His name was Devon and he was an absolute sweetheart. I never go to 'name brand' stores but felt the new dog I was getting the next day was worth it and I'm so glad I did. I had a chance to meet a wonderful young man, who a lot of customers wouldn't know how to take his exuberant personality and style. I took my Bernedoodle to get cleaned up and trimmed. When I picked her up just over an hour later she was shaking and scared. Im assuming it was because she was pretty much shaved bald after I asked for 3/8 left on her. She has been to other groomers and came out happy and fluffy but not from here. I feel like Samantha the groomer did not take the necessary time to do the proper job. Instead of trimming and brushing it must have been quicker and easier to just run a buzzer over her. If you dont care about the job you do then find a new one. Do not recommend this place. read more

This month is the second month I was told at the register that they are doing a reset. February I went in to get our usual litter for our cats, the price at the back by the litter 10.99 for a refill, at the register it rang up 11.99. The cashier made the correction to 10.99. A month later went in to get our monthly litter refill, I saw they had the cat food we use so I put in my cart it was 35.99, got to the register and it rang up 41.99, I questioned it and I was informed they were still doing a reset and I would have to pay the price the register said. I politely left the food there with the cashier and only paid for the litter and left. I did not want to ask for a manager because the cashier should have called for a manager or check the shelf price. Since she didn't , it showed me the attitude of the staff at this store. I went to Petsmart. I would make sure that it is a necessity before I would use this store. read more

We wanted to get our 2 year old dog through the canine good citizen class, but we were having problems with supervised separation. The wonderful trainer at Petco, Devon, listened to the issues we were having and used our class time to focus on this major hurdle while still covering the remaining tasks. Devon was so good to us and to our dog. He offered suggestions and we practiced during our class as well as at home. Kipling finally made it to the three minute mark of separation and we were so delighted to find him patiently waiting for our return. None of this would have been possible without Devon and the Petco method of training. We tried elsewhere without success. I highly recommend Petco and Devon. read more

It's a circus up in this joint. I'm never going back. Staff was friendly. Bought an opened dog soft crate. Got a discount at the register after mgr called up. No one knew why or how it got taped up. Should have been my first clue. Found out when I got home it was mildew and mold infested. Yum. Returned it and watched drama at the registers (unrelated to my transaction). Staff talking in a manner best left for break room, not customer-facing roles. Other staff appeared new to company and wandering cluelessly. I'd been in the store for 15 minutes and it was very clear they weren't sure what they should be doing. We just adopted our first dog and this was not what we thought it would be like. PetSmart is light-years better. read more

If I could give a negative number, I would. 1 is way too high. They have a terrible turnover problem. And now, my old dog is apparently too old to groom. She's not too old to grow her hair and get dirty. I think this should be my call, not the last minute call if a so-called professional groomer. What made today especially difficult is I made this appointment weeks ago. Lucy had been groomed there before, so her age was knowable to them. They called and texted numerous reminders and confirmations, some days more than once, yet just as I was putting Lucy in the car to go up there, they call and cancel due to her age. Owners beware of the inhumane grooming I witnessed today, Wednesday, 9/18/10, 2:00 pm (ish). I was horrified by watching an associate groom a short hair beige dog (around 40 pound) lab this afternoon. The poor dog was foaming at the mouth and crying while this short hair petco groomer was pulling and strongly holding this dogs back legs. I intervened by entering the grooming room and telling the groomer I did not feel comfortable with how she was handling the dog. There was another groomer watching the process and doing nothing. The groomer told me it was necessary to teach the dog who was the boss. No names needed, owners beware of leaving your precious animals to be groomed at this Petco in Fayetteville. Two girl cashier's had the worst attitude. We went to buy more goldfish and they ended up not letting us. We called them over once but they were too busy on their phones. So we had told them " excuse me" a bit louder and they caught an attitude and got all mad. I was excited to buy more goldfish but their attitude was not it so I left. read more

I would give less stars if I could. Poor quality animal care. Every time I come into this hellhole it's sick reptiles, rodents, and dead betta fish. I was in earlier today and they had a leopard gecko with a wound on its face and a garter snake with a bone dry water dish and no humidity. Employees at every turn but not a single one of them has time to take care of the animals or knows anything about them?? I refuse to buy animals here because the ones I want are either sick or thrown in with sick ones and the employees can never tell you how to take care of them or tell you the wrong info so people are buying animals without knowing how to care for it properly. If I could give less stars I would! Today was my first and last experience at petco! Not only did my dog have razor burn all over his underside they told me he had flees. My dog is 11 years old and has been groomed since he was 6 months old. He takes a monthly pill for flees and I personally gave him a bath two days ago and no flees were found dead or alive! They were told he had sensitive skin and to use oatmeal soap which wasn't done either! The manager of the dog grooming was there when I picked my dog up and acted like the razor burn was no big deal and that it wasn't that it must have been the flee treatment soap they used on him and gave me some aloe to put on it. I understand mistakes happen but at least own up to it! Will not be returning. Please if u love your dog for the love of God take them elsewhere! Here we are almost a week later and my dog has sores all over him and still red from grooming :( read more

The woman that runs the grooming department is incredibly rude. The first time I brought my dog in for a bath she was rude when I picked him up. She told me she "did her best" but he needed to be medicated next time he came. So I go to my vet and get him anxiety medication before I schedule another grooming. When I arrived I told her he was medicated this time and she told me they wouldn't groom him because they don't groom dogs on any medication because they had a dog that had "almost died". I reminded her that she was the one who told me to medicate the dog and she basically called me a liar. And then she didn't even offer any solutions or try to reschedule! I'm not normally the review writing type but this really pissed me off. I won't be back to Petco for anything if that's how they treat costumers. read more

Customer service in the grooming salon was terrible. We were delayed as we had to show updated vaccination records (which were provided) but because it took 15 minutes they refused to see our dog and rescheduled without even asking. Will not be returning to petco because of this. PetsMart got us right in afterwards and the experience was great, so we will be shopping there moving forward. read more

I went in the store today to get some dog food. While I was down the aisle trying to remember what brand I had previously purchased (new puppy) an associate walked over and asked if she could help me. Once I said no she asked me to move out from the aisle so she could pull a pallet there... Why should I move when I'm trying to buy a product? She couldn't wait 3 minutes for me to decide what I wanted? If I had said yes that she could help me then would I still have to move? Then she told me I could go up front and they could pull up my previous purchases since I'm a rewards member or whatever. So I walked up front and was told by the manager that it's not possible to which I responded "well the employee in the back told me that you could pull it up for me." The manager told me everyone knows you can't do that... so I'm guessing she probably just told me that to go up front to get me out of the aisle. When I went back to the aisle to get the food, the pallet was right in the way with no room to grab what I needed. Terrible customer service. I'll just stick to petsmart from now on. read more

I had bought a pet from this store when I went to school in Fayetteville and it had been acting lethargic right when I got some and I had multiple calls with them asking if I should take it to a vet, and they said no, not telling me to bring it in so they could take it to the vet according to their policy. The lizard then died and when I called, and finally got a call back 2 weeks later they said I could get a refund. 1 week after that, I return to the store and am told I cannot get a refund. Great store, friendly staff, and somewhat easy parking. They only carry approved brand names that don't have nasty stuff to harm your pets. That's hugely comforting! The only thing I'd like to see changed is that they add Stella & Chewy's brand. read more

I understand mask mandates are in place but this business took it too far. my husband and I went in to purchase a dog tag. We did not wear masks when we entered. We purchased our tag with the cashier, McKenzie; she said nothing about the masks. After purchasing the tag, we took it to the engraver to have it printed and the code on the receipt didn't work. I approached the register to get help. Spencer, rather than offering help, rudely just told us to put masks on. Well, I grabbed one and put it on. My husband did not because he has a medical condition. While I was standing in line, Spencer came back and handed my husband a mask and told him to put it on. My husband didn't even get a chance to explain why he couldn't wear one before Spencer told him to leave the store. My husband threw the mask back at Spencer and left. I was at the register getting a new code so I finished my purchase and went to the tag machine to try again. It didn't work the second time either. So, my husband had came back through the door to tell me to just get a refund and McKenzie looked up and said you still need a mask to be in here and sent him back out. I've never been treated as poorly as we were in that store. I got my refund and I will never shop there again! I'm a manager in customer service too and that's not how you treat people! Petco should be ashamed of that team! Obviously if I put my mask on with no argument at all, there was a reason why my husband did not!!! Petco is pretty alright for a pet store. I've gotten all of my pet rats here, and the employees are pretty good about giving pet info. I've only had one bad experience where an employee was going to pick up one of the rats I was buying by the tail. I was like "No no no please don't, it can hurt them" and he let me get the rat myself. Overall ok store, just a bit pricey. read more

We have taken our dog to the grooming salon at this petco store a handful of times over the past year with no real issues, each time calling for an appointment time. However two months ago we had an issue with the grooming time taking over 3-1/2 hours with my dog being left in a crate the majority of that time waiting her "turn." My appointment was for 11:30. I picked her up at 3:00. I was dismayed then but chalked it up to being over the holidays. Today was the last straw. An appointment was made for 2:30 at which time I dropped off my dog. I was told she would be done maybe in 2-1/2 hours as there were dogs "ahead of her." Why do I make a flipping appointment I thought to myself. At 5:30, after having received no call, I called the salon and was told my dog had not been started yet and "she was next" and she "would do her real quick." Gee, I assumed when I brought her in she would actually be getting a grooming vs a quick haircut. My dog was finished at 6:30 pm and my son was assigned to pick her up. My dog was left in a crate for close to 3-1/2 hours before even being touched. I was charged $75 for this honor for my mini schnauzer (all 12 pounds of her) whereas previously we were never charged more than $54. I will never return. read more

have always had a good experience buying my cat stuff here until today. I grabbed what i thought was cat food, in the cat section (the only section i go to because i have only cats) came home, opened the bag of food, and saw how big the pieces were. read the bag and it said dog food. the workers put the merchandise in the wrong section. obviously dog and cat food have the same brands but who is lazy enough to put dog food in the cat section when theyre the ones who work at the pet store. Not only that but there were 3 more bags of the same (said 12 lbs, and the flavor of food and that's all i looked at and assumed that only cat food would be in the cat section) and the price rang up wrong at the register and the cashier did not question it read more

Hannah is such a wonderful stylist!!! She is so gentle with my dog! Usually he is skittish about going to any grooming salon. However, he doesn't get scared when he sees Hannah. I don't worry when I leave him with her because I know he will be well cared for...As a bonus, it is refreshing to have finally found a stylist who knows how to properly groom a havanese....she seems to be the only one in NWA! read more

I want to start this out saying grooming was amazing and awesome people, they deserve 5 stars. However the cashier up at the front, Genesa.... she doesn't deserve any. I walk up to her ( no one on line ) and she is having a conversation with another associate. Ignore us, the customers. She still having the conversation starts ringing us up for our grooming bill, still says anything. I say hello to her, she looks at me and just looked away. Each of my dogs grooming bill was $38, I have two dogs and she finally said the words $108...... I told her that can not be right 38 X 2 = 76.... she said nothing and just looked at the screen and kind of shrugged her shoulders. She looked at me again and said $108.... I told her no she over charged me. Then all of a sudden she scrolls to the top of the screen and takes of a 20oz shampoo charge and told me the final amount that was correct. I asked her where that charge came from she looked at me and said my total again. I don't know if she was trying to get us to pay for something she wanted or what but that's not really the point of this review, she was rude. Beyond rude. I've worked in customer service for over 10 years, and that's not customer service at all. She's stealing money and being rude. read more
