You know, it's really my fault for trying to go here since I had a piss poor experience last time, but I thought after two whole years they might be better. The groomer didn't even attempt to cut my dog's nails. She came out shedding, looking, and smelling the same as when she came in. They call a CHIHUAHUA a "flat face dog" and thus refuse to dry her. She came out basically freshly wet. I just got home and brushed her and the brush is full of hair. Believe all of the reviews and do NOT go here. There's a reason they have all of these slots available and South Burlington has none open for weeks. DO NOT GO HERE FOR GROOMING. This store needs to be shut down. read more

I would rate lower than 1 if I could. the staff is rude, salon staff is rude as well. The store is crowded with frieght that you cannot get to the items you might need. If you ask for help they treat you as if your taking time away from them and your a huge inconvenience. Please people do not shop at this store and PLEASE do not take your pets there for grooming. Totally inappropriate behaviors from the staff. Actually I felt unsafe being in the store the way I was spoken to. read more

The little child that grooms the dogs does not no what she is doing. She insisted I come back in an hour to pick up my little 12 pound dog. I asked if I could come in half hour and she said no. I left and came back in 10 minutes. The dog was alone in a crate with a bow. She told me she got done fast and the dog was still wet. She was bone dry. Her nails were not clipped she told me they were. They tried to charge me extra 8 bucks. I asked for what. They said shampoo and "not what". I said what is the "not what"? They could not answer. I said there is not Not what. I asked to see the manager and a little boy about 15 showed up. I started to leave without paying and they said they would call the police. I sat down to wait for the cops. They did not call and I walked out. my dog did not get groomed that day. They stink. the place is run by children. read more

So many things about Petco are fabulous, including the program to adopt pets. However at the same time they sell reptiles, ferrets, hamsters, chinchillas, birds and fish...all of these animals have the same issues with breeding farms! We must get enlightened!! read more

Brought my nervous mini schnauzer in for a last minute groom and Kellye did an absolutely wonderful job! She understood that he was struggling with grooming after a bite from another dog and was super matted. She got him all cleaned up in about 2 hours and he not only looks wonderful but seems to have a bit of his confidence back! read more

The only thing that I hate worse than chain stores is a chain pet store. These people have NO IDEA how to care for animals and they simply DON'T CARE since they are getting paid minimum wage anyway. I'm a vet tech, so I might be a little biased ... but seriously, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that if all the animal cages have poop in them, they should be cleaned. Very clean and organized facility. This store carries fish, rodents, reptiles and birds. They also have an adoption center for cats. Shelves are always stocked and I always get what I'm looking for. The animals look taken care of well. I've bought two guinea pigs from this store and both are still in good health. Usually you hear horror stories of how sick animals are there or that they die the week they're bought. In my case this was not true, this branch of the Petco franchise is very well run and the animals look very healthy. Some of the staff can be a bit grumpy or rude, though for the most part they're polite. Very fun to go in and look at all the animals, I wish they sold puppies and dogs though. read more

This store has the absolute worst General Manager I have ever seen. She was utterly rude to me when I was being checked out by her and I also saw her speaking very rudely to other customers as well as to her employees. When I asked her a question she proceeded to tell me she didn't know and that she didn't care. I would not recommend this store to anyone. read more

Horrible!! Cleaning supplies mixed in with the dog and cat food,dirty rags, ladder in the isle, a hammer. A lot of disorganized unpacked food on pallets. The cat section was embarrassing, small and shoved in the back, also extremely disorganized. This store is in desperate need of management. If I could rate lower than one star, I would. My service dog will no longer work after having his nails clipped at Petco in Barre, VT. They clipped his nails in the reception area, a dark small room. They made me hold him and both of us were hurt in the process. His vet says he may recover but cannot work now. They even called him an exotic dog when trying to enter him in the computer. He is an American Dingo and before Petco worked and knew close to 30 tasks which assist me in every day life. I am left with no working partner, which I have to retrain now after 17 months of training we had done. He even pulled my wheelchair. So Petco how are you going to fix this one? How can this be fixed and what am I suppose to do without his help? read more

Worst customer service I have ever seen. On multiple occasions,when shopping there,I experienced issues at the register,with prices not entering correctly and discounts not being applied. I also tried to return a defective item and was told by one employee,that "I could return it,then I couldn't by a different employee. Another time,I picked several items from a "sale" kiosk,only to be informed at the register,"oh,those aren't on sale". I argued that they were found on the "sale" kiosk, but was not allowed to purchase them at the "sale price" ! My Wife and I have walked out of the store,leaving the items we had intended to purchase at the register,when the sales people became rude and unreasonable. My advice to you is "not to go to Petco". read more

I went in to browse on two separate occasions. The first time I went in looking for a soft, fabric dog poop bag holder. No luck. Average selection, with above average prices on most things. I went in yesterday (Monday) afternoon, and the store was not busy. I spent at least a half an hour looking at fish tanks, and no sales people seemed to be around. I was also looking at their TINY selection of bettas, and was kind of shocked that they ranged in price from $3.99 - $12.99. I'm not sure what the difference between them are, as they are all $3.49 at the local pet store. They were also out of goldfish (except for feeders). At one point, 2 sales associates approached the betta display I was looking at, and I was completely ignored, not even greeted, while they chatted about the price of the betta. It was not so busy that I could not have been greeted. I think I'll steer clear of this pet store. read more

I went to Petco in Barre to return my Sentry fiproguard. I told the clerk that not only did it not kill the fleas, but I saw LOTS of reviews of Sentry warning that it was poisoning dogs. She told me that if it was on the net, then I should not believe it. I told her that people have had their pets die because they trusted Petco. She was unsympathetic and told me to stop yelling even though I had never raised my voice. She then told me that she would only refund part of my money because I used some of the product. After more protest she gave in and refunded all of my money. After all this rude treatment, I told her that I never wanted to give Petco my business again. She said "Good." DON"T GO TO Petco IN Barre!!! Not only do they not care about your pets, they don't care about the people who are their customers, and they don't care about the reputation of the Petco Corporation! I will spend the rest of my life telling this to people. Petco, you lost one customer for life, plus all his dog loving friends he knows!! Do you care about that? read more
