This happens to me, anyway... and regularly. But not at this new Asia flagship location. The goods are dispersed over 4 floors and a whopping 47,000 square feet. That's a huge deal in Hong Kong, where space comes at a premium! All that extra room results in a wholly enjoyable, stress-free H&M shopping experience. You didn't think it was possible, did you? In addition to the well-organized fashion, this location boasts an H&M Home store on the top floor! There you'll find a slew of well-curated and affordable goodies for the home... anything from soft duvets and chic pillow covers to plush towels and rustic kitchen knick-knacks. For an upcoming Thanksgiving dinner that I'll be hosting in my flat, I purchased some place mats and kitchen items (I don't often cook, so now I'm set with the essentials). I also found a pair of perfectly-distressed slim-fit boyfriend (I know, an oxymoron) jeans that I LOVE. As opposed to the rest of them Zara is not a designer store, neither a high end brand. It's a medium quality, good design clothing and accessories' store. We all know Zara. It may be argued that it does not match in this location but I think it's great that it's there. Today I wanted to buy a bag and it was almost an emergency...I had kept an old one for way too long. As Topshop in Queensway doesn't have many bags (if any at all) I headed to Zara. None of the other stores crossed my mind. What's more: I knew I could find what I was after - a big black bag, rather simple. This season is plagued with those, with a good range of qualities and prices. I finally got Trafaluc one and I love it, it does its job and it's nicely designed. They also have some pretty brown leather bags in this collection. I did have a look at the clothes too; Zara HK is different to Europe's stores (the ones I know) in many ways...not only the design is more minimalistic and the lines simpler but it is also more expensive and it's positioning differs from Europe's. I found the current collection a little boring but still, great to have a Zara just 2 minutes away from my office!

A florist and a cafe in one place. With Christmas coming along, they were busy making pine tree basket that filled the cafe a nice scent, indeed it is quite magical, like Christmas. OVO garden is located at the end of the wan chai wet market, right across from their own furniture store. Where they sell pretty high end wood made furniture. After visiting their furniture store, we decided to stop by their cafe for a cup of tea and quick a snack. With a pleasant surprise, it turns out to be a florist place as well. Welcoming by lots of greens, we picked a table by their florist workstation . And we ordered a few pots of tea and their French toast for a quick bite. ( no refill for their tea, so a pot of tea (extra for $12) is a better choice than a cup, and you can probably share among 2 people ) The tea that they served are Dilmah tea, a good quality aromatic tea. And the French toast are freshly fried topped with a scope of ice cream and layer of cinnamon. I shared it among a group of 4 and the portion is definetly generous. The French toast itself isn't too sweet, with a touch of cinnamon is just right for me. Just wished they added in a bit more fruit or have the fruit cut a big larger . But other than that it was just perfect. We didn't get to try their coffee and other dishes, so I can't say much about their food selection and menu. But the ambience is quite nice. A good comfortable resting place if you are in the area. And they do have a 90 min limit for meal time, probably due to their limited seatings. Not sure how strict they are about their policy. But would also recommend their furniture store as well!

Unfortunately, I had a pretty disappointing experience and I regret purchasing the $300 voucher to go there. Making an appointment with the place was really hard - the receptionist on the phone was very nice, but for most of the times that I asked if I could come in, the stylist was apparently unavailable or the slot had already been booked. They only have one stylist (perhaps they have more now?), or they only have one stylist on shift at any one time, which doesn't make sense to me because doesn't that mean there can only be one customer at once? Eventually, after calling the third or fourth time I was able to book an appointment. When I got there, I was offered coffee or tea and I opted for rose tea, which was served in a very fancy translucent cup. The tea was quite fragrant and so far, the service was quite good. I sat down and I started speaking to the stylist, showing her my makeup bag that I had brought and the products I use. She started to use the products to apply a sort of 'every day' look on me, which was fine, but I didn't like that she wasn't telling me her techniques. I told her at the beginning that I don't wear makeup often and am not very good at applying it, and therefore want to a kind of tutorial so I can leave here being better at applying make- up than I am now. I prompted her once or twice and asked questions but her responses were quite short, so I didn't want to press on anymore. She also told me that I should trim my brows to be thinner (I do have rather full brows), and I thought that she would do that on the spot for me but she didn't. When the session was ending with about five minutes left, I asked her a question about applying winged eyeliner and if she would demonstrate. She told me that she had another client next and cannot help me with that. I doubt that they actually did have another client next because the place had been empty the entire time that I was there. Overall, I felt that I had paid $300 for someone to do my makeup, not teach me the skills and give me appropriate advice - I wouldn't recommend coming here.

Booking my appointment was a breeze using the automated system on their website which actually gave me a bunch of open timeslots to choose from. When my friend and I arrived on the day of the appointment, we were greeted by the manager who knew what our names were! The amazing thing about this place is that I was taken care of by the same stylist from start to finish! She started off by offering me a choice of 6 different shampoos and gave me an awesome scalp massage before getting to my hairdo. I opted for a "Waterfall" which was a half-up with some fancy braids at the back. The result was simply amazing! What amazed me even more was that my stylist then went on to doing my makeup and she was an absolute guru at that too! She came across as very professional and advised me on what makeup effect to best go with my half-up. My friend was equally happy with her hair and makeup and we had a great chilling there at the bar. The whole experience only took about 90 minutes so we got to our party in plenty of time. Got so many compliments on my new look that night! Definitely going back next time I have another event to go to. Highly recommended!

This lovely flower shop is located in Queen's Road East, where there are many other similar stores…read more I was looking for a small cactus plants for my studio, to add a little bit of green to the whitish decoration. I'm not a good plants carer. It's not that I don't care for them, but they tend to last very short when I'm in charge of them...so a cactus was a good idea. The shop is relatively big - and they have a ton of different plants and flowers in there. As I'm pretty illiterate when it comes to flora, I asked one of the girls at the shop for help. She showed me every cactus they had. Some of them came with a really really cute pot, but they were bigger than I wanted (and more expensive!). Instead I looked around the shop for inspiration. I loved how they've got the shop arranged, with a big space in the middle where smaller plants and pots are displayed. Some of the ones that need a cold atmosphere are kept in a kind of fridge. Besides flowers of many kinds (I can't recall most of them), they also sell orchids in different sizes, the cheapest coming at 380HKD. While I was there I noticed they had a corner full of baskets, possibly for Mid-Autumn festival, and they looked great. Most of them were carrying a ton of fruit and a box with moon cakes. Cheapest one was around 600HKD, and that included an assortment of fruits but no moon cakes so if you want a proper one, you'll be paying around 150HKD more. Prices are around the average of shops I've seen in Wan Chai, but their presentation is much better as they use the Mid-Autumn festival theme in most of their baskets. If I finally decide to buy a basket (today) this will be the place.
