I have a little 8 lb 13 yr old rescue that was not doing great the other day- diarrhea, vomiting and lethargy. I was on my way to Animal ER when I realized they were open. They got him in within 10-15 minutes. The tech came out, took only 1--15 min later the vet came to give me update with my options. They were kind, efficient and price was reasonable. We opted for supportive care and observation. He has bounced back 75% and I didn't have to spend all day in an ER. I would totally go back there if needed. read more

If you spend 1k per hour you should get a professional opinion backed up with action to resolve a miscalculation on their part. Instead I sat in the lobby waiting for them to charge me and decided to go across the parking lot to Pet Emergency. I would not recommend Pet Urgent Care to anyone. Long story below....... Came in to get a wound stitched for my dog Henry and spent almost 1k with Urgent Care for less than an hour of work. Fine, that's what a professional Doctor charges. Before I left they told me that the stitches would come out in 10 to 14 days. I got a call from Urgent Care this morning on day 10 and took Henry in to check to see if the stitches were ready to come out. I specifically asked to have him checked to see if they were ready to come out. The Doctor at Pet Urgent Care said that the wound was healed and removed the stitches. I took Henry home and went to work. When I got home from work and checked on Henry his wound was wide open. All of this is understandable. The Doctors response was not. When the doctor came out to speak with me she was suggesting that we spend more money on a wound cleaning and more antibiotics rather than replacing the stitches. I asked "why would I be charged if the stitches were taken out earlier than the 14 days" and the doctor replies " well we can't leave the stitches in too long" I asked "how could the stitches be being left in too long if we are at day 10, the earliest day in the healing recommendation to get the stitches out. I was told that it was a 10 to 14 day healing cycle" she responded with "what are you trying to do here, have a go at me" I said "no, you simply contradicted yourself, the wound obviously would have benefited from the extra 4 days of healing, but it was your professional opinion to take them out on day 10 rather 14 and now you want to just leave my dog with a gaping open wound" she got upset and said that I could go to Pet Emergency and that she would come back with a Manager. She came back, but with a staff member who thank god could witness the doctor getting upset again. So now she starts telling me how the wound would heal on its own, it would start to grow back together, they only use stitches so that it heals faster. And that was just another contradiction to taking the stitches out too early. This could have been an opportunity for the Doctor to take some responsibility; instead she got confrontational again..... I have been in customer service since 1998 and I have never even considered asking a customer "Are they trying to have a go at me". Thanks Pet Emergency. We have had to use the pet urgent care on two different occasions once for our dog and recently for our cat. You can make an appointment but be ware that doesn't necessarily mean you will be seen at that time. Pets are triaged and you may have to wait, with that said it is worth the wait. On both occasions we were treated very well the staff are kind and informative. If you need a vet on the weekend or after hours this is the place to go. read more

I can't say enough great things about this Urgent Care. Dr. Clark and team did such a wonderful job with my Chloe. Most vets are closed or completely booked on weekends, so when a friend suggested this place, I knew it was my last hope. They were also booked. I went in there yesterday with my dog, and she had been ill vomiting and had diarrhea. She swallowed a piece of a pen and it was concerning to me. When I got to the Urgent Care Lexi would not calm down she was aggressive and barking, and the doctor and staff were not able to check her out without sedation. The doctor offered to give her medication for her diarrhea and her vomiting and also something to sedate her or we could just walk out the door and see like act like it never happened and see what happens tomorrow. They did not charge me which I thought was wonderful. You don't often get treatment like that with the option of no treatment at all and no charge. Because we were actually in an examination room and we did take their time. Can't say enough good things about this. If you have a pet that's ill. We were referred here by our normal vet since we had an urgent matter with our pup, and they didn't have any availability today or tomorrow. The place is modern, updated, open. The receptionist, Olivia, was efficient and nice. The tech, Sofia, that brought our pup back was very friendly and sweet with our pup. Right now, they are just taking the pets back by themselves, and us humans waiting the front. The wait to get registered and taken back is really short, especially compared to other emergency/urgent care vets. There is an emergency clinic across the parking lot as well, just in case. The vet, Dr. Zimmerman, is very friendly, thorough, and took his time explaining what is currently wrong and what other concerns to watch for (anticipatory guidance is always appreciated!!). read more

This place is completely worthless. I have probably been to this business at least five or six times over the last couple of years on the weekend and only gotten help one time. My poor kitty fell out of a 50ft tree and broke his back leg. I called prior and they told me to bring him in. The front desk lady, Olivia, was super sweet and attentive. Dr. Clark was also super kind and helpful. My cat was very unhappy when we got there and howling in his carrier in the waiting room, so they took him back to make him more comfortable in a dark, quiet room, which was very sweet of them. I was crying when I found out that he would need surgery to correct the fracture, and both Olivia and Dr. Clark offered me tissues. My only reasoning behind four stars instead of five is that it did take a lot longer than expected. I would definitely recommend taking your pets here for urgent medical attention! read more

My dog was exhibiting symptoms of discomfort, fever, etc. This behavior is indicative of an infection. I wasn't sure where it was coming from so I did a search on his body and found a small cyst on his toe. I thought maybe the infection was coming from there. I wasn't sure so I took him to urgent care as recommended by our doctor who was booked that day. Once I arrived to urgent care, the signs were confusing. It shares the same building as a different medical practice. My dog was taken to the back fairly quickly which was great. I was not taken into an exam room like the other two dogs that came in after me. I was confused about that. It was a little concerning as I like to see what the doctor is doing and be there to support my pet. The doctor came back out because she couldn't find the cyst so I showed it to her via photos on my phone. I explained that I thought he had an infection and it may be coming from that cyst but I wasn't sure. I asked the doctor if there was a blood test to check for infection. She said WBC count will tell us. We got a CBC and the white blood cell count was high out of range. This didn't alarm the doctor and she sent me home with anti inflammatory similar to Advil. The next day he was still not doing well. I just knew he had an infection. I wish the doctor listened to me. But I gave him the Advil for dogs. And trusted the doctors plan. The Next day he was even worse. Now it was clear where the infection was coming from. His EAR! It was swollen and filled with gunk from the infection and bleeding. How did this get missed?? At the urgent care, The nurse took the dog back to take vitals and do a physical. How did they not check his ears?? I went to a different doctor Monday morning and that doctor explained how severe the infection was and she couldn't believe this was missed merely two days before. I ended up spending almost $300 for urgent care and another $400 to fix what wasn't caught and now getting severe. We have not slept for days and he is so uncomfortable. I'm so upset by this experience. I can only imagine what they will say when I contact them to ask for my money back. This experience was enough to not return. It costs the same as the emergency room any way. read more

Not my favorite place! They charge a lot (don't they all?) and over treated my dog (don't they all?). But worse, they take your dog in back to examine and treat. I went in for a lightly scratched eye on my dog. You can't examine the dog with me there? Then they took the dog in back, treated her, and only brought her out once the front desk said i paid. I took my Pug here last night, around 6 pm, because of him not feeling well (recommended by the ER across the way AND my Vet!). And let's just say that I was so pleased with them. They took me and my dog in right away, and after placing us in a room, a tech came in soon after. Made me feel so comfortable explaining to her everything that was going on, and I took my Seamus to have him tested and treated. Not long after, the Dr came back and explained to me what was going on and what the treatment was. Everything happened so fast(in a good way) that I couldn't remember if I left anything out. I let them know before I walked my dog in that he is a 130lb cane Corso who is very skittish in new places and around new people which in turn makes me uncomfortable. We were able to get a cone and a temporary muzzle over him and they were able to give him his exam right away and my dog was the most relaxed I've ever seen him in public. I came here because my dog's temperature had dropped and she was a bit lethargic and not taking any food. With an empty stomach, she was vomiting frequently and blood was coming out of her rectum as well. Upon arriving, I was greeting by kind, calm, helpful staff. They took my dog right back and within minutes a Vet came out and explained what she believed my dog's diagnosis was. What I appreciate the most is I didn't feel like anyone here was trying to push treatment my dog didn't really need. This actually happened to me at another animal urgent care hospital in a different city, and it's disheartening. Here, Dr. Clark was very detailed and clear. She explained that my dog only needs some medication and fluids and she should be fine. Dr. Clark was right! By the next day, my dog was back to herself. Just brought my dog in this afternoon. Our vet couldn't squeeze in a last minute so, the 24 hour emergency vet had a 6-8 hour wait, and recommended this place. I called and they were able to squeeze him in immediately. He fractured his toe nail (hanging on perpendicular compared to the rest of his nails) and was in a lot of pain. They did an assessment and took care of the situation. He's now home, all bandaged up and recovering. First of all, I certainly wish Yelp would change their rating system because sometimes there are businesses where even one star is too many and this is one of them! My dog had something in or on her foot for 2 days and was limping. I couldn't get in to see her regular vet and one of the places they recommended was Pet Urgent Care. I called them and they told me I could come right in. I couldn't then so she told me to go online and make an APPOINTMENT for later in the day. I repeated what she said and confirmed they took APPOINTMENTS. I made one for 4 PM. When I got there the receptionist said they were behind by 30 minutes. I told her that's ok. At 5:00 I asked what was going on and that my APPOINTMENT was at 4:00. At that point, for the first time she told me that it wasn't really an APPOINTMENT, just something giving you a place in line. WTH? I told her that nowhere on their website, confirmation email or the 3 phone conservations we'd had (she called to get registration info) was I ever told that was what the time meant. The best she could do was say "oh I'm sorry but that's how it is". I gave my dog anxiety medication before leaving home at 3:45 and knew it would be wearing off after a couple hours. I was so angry about what she'd told me and the whole situation and told her it was ridiculous and I was leaving. In reality I cut my nose to spite my face. (Actually my dogs!) I hoped she would be ok overnight and can take her somewhere else tomorrow. I don't get mad very often and don't write bad reviews for many businesses but I feel like this is absolutely warranted! I have no idea how the Dr who is there is, nor will I go back to find out. So tomorrow I have to find somewhere else to take my baby but I just couldn't or wouldn't wait any longer today considering I had an APPOINTMENT! read more

I took my dog here because he was bit by a rattlesnake. His face was swollen and I was holding him because he couldn't walk. As I walk up to the counter. The woman is on the phone, so I wait hoping she will take notice to the since of urgency. Instead she holds her finger up at me as if to hold on and she continues with her call that happens to be a follow up regarding a dermatology appointment. WTH!!! Had to take my 10wk old puppy to Urgent care yesterday, due to bloating from over eating. I called numerous locations and they were either booked or sent me elsewhere. After speaking to them on the phone and assessing, they recommend I bring her in. Expected to be there at least 4hrs but they took her right away assessed her with a physical exam and reassured me she would pass it naturally with recommendations. Dr Zimmerman was awesome! Great bedside manners and did not rush explanations or feel rushed to attend others during my time with him. Very pleasant experience and fees were very reasonable i hope to not have to return but if the need arises they will be my first choice. I will definitely be back! I was recovering from a bacterial infection (c diff) when my terrier started showing symptoms of the same illness. I was so worried that she would get it and then pass it back to me, so finding a place to get her on antibiotics quickly was critical. The new Urgent Care Clinic only takes walk-ins, so I prepared myself for a long wait, but within five minutes I was sitting in an exam room. The staff took infectious precautions to protect everyone. Dr. Zimmerman (and Laura, I believe) worked quickly and within thirty minutes we were out the door. The visit was just over $200 including the prescription which, under the circumstances, was reasonable. Having heard so many horror stories about the Pet Emergency and Spec. Center (5232 Jackson Drive #105, La Mesa) in the same parking lot on Jackson Dr., I was extremely hesitant to give Urgent Care (5200 Jackson Dr., La Mesa) a try, but I couldn't get an appointment anywhere else. Although both offices are owned by the same corporation, they are like night and day. I talked to the vet about how difficult it was to even figure out the differences between the two places because their names are pretty generic and almost identical. He acknowledged the problems and said that they are working with corporate to solve them. read more

Well to respond to your comment, the person that spoke to me first was as I said RUDE. Also if she was being "trained" she should not have been left alone to handle important calls to an "urgent care" as time was passing by. A lot of the responses were careless, uninterested, with attitude, and many "umms" I do not appreciate the fact that I called to complain after the passing of my pet. I was thankfully taken care of somewhere highly valued. I will not rely on poor customer service and after I tried to report my complaint the person speaking to me was very dismissive and if it was you, I recommend learning to handle complaints better as in actually taking actions to better improve a business. read more
