Everything I've bought from Olly's Polly's to date - mainly dog-related bits and bobs including a collar and several squeaky toys - have been of good quality. They sell Burns dog food, too, which isn't always easy to come by. Check the opening hours before you make a special trip here, because they're closed all day Sunday and Monday, and Wednesday afternoons - and then on the other weekdays when they're open, they close for an hour at lunchtime! Oh, and be sure to introduce yourself to the resident parrot (unless you're ornithophobic, of course).

From long lasting fish food sticks to cat litter trays you can help your pet feel more a part of your family (and sometimes treat them better than you treat alot of your family!) No, I wasn't treated to a bag of hay or a chew toy, my present was the furry kind, a hamster to be precise. I was really nervous (the last hamster incident I was involved in ended in blood and being mentally scarred for life) but the owner was absolutely lovely. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, giving us a full history of his current stock of hamsters and stressing that he only uses particular breeders. As this goes for all the small animals he sells, this means that customers can rely on healthy, happy and docile animals. As well as the hamster in question, we also bought all the necessary paraphernalia that one needs to take care of it. Once again the owner gave us expert knowledge on what kind of cage we needed and once we got the hamster home I rang this shop up practically every other day for advice and he was nothing but patient. Definitely recommend this place for all your pet needs, particularly if you are looking to buy a healthy, friendly pet.

They also stock a few small animals and the staff know their stock and animals well, and are able to assist and advise you. Their prices are about right for a pet shop, a little cheaper than the massive Pets at Home stores, one being by Ikea near Easton. Also, they have a much greater range than ASDA has to offer, and know their stuff a lot better too.

From the outside it is plain to see this is the only place in north Bristol to come for all your pet supplies. When I stepped inside there was that brilliant oh so familiar pet shop smell. You know, that kind of dog food chew mixed with dry hay smell. It makes you want to leave the shop with a big sack of bird seed even though you only have a goldfish! A friendly shop and a variety of all shapes and sizes of pet foods.

Not so Roxfords though and this is a testament to the beauty of Gloucester Road and the inhabitants of Bishopston. Yes they don't do as many deals on cat food and litter as the big supermarkets and chains but they do stock a wide range of food, bedding, treatments and toys at competitive prices. And there are cute little bunnies and rodents to gawk at as well as a good range of items for tropical and freshwater fish tanks.

It's a chain pet store so not exciting or unique, but the prices are reasonable and they do have a good selection of supplies for all your usual pets. They also have a small selection of pets on display. Mainly rabbits, rodents and fish. I've bought dog toys and leads etc in there before and the prices are good. My trip today was purely to entertain my son as we were at eastgate and had half an hour to kill. For that purpose it worked a treat and he really enjoyed looking at the animals and fish!

They have some animals for sale in here - rabbits, rats, fish and birds. Their dog and cat food sections are pretty good, they hold our regular supply of hide bones but you can find cheaper bulk buys of snacks such as pigs ears and dried sprats online so check you aren't overpaying. The accessories and toys are priced about right though. You can bring your dog into the shop if it is well behaved, so you may turn a corner and bump into a dog, so beware if you are scared of them! The staff will often give your dog a treat at the till if they take a shine to him.
