They sold me a bearded dragon that wasn't eating and said it would be fine. It was for my daughter whom I made wait to get one for 7 years until we researched and made sure it was a good fit. I bought all the habitat and necessary equipment needed. I called to ask why it wasn't eating and that I thought it was dying and Pet Paradise told me they don't guarantee pets and to "shove a cricket down its throat" and I asked what to do if it died and she said "I don't know, I guess bury it". Cold cruel and selling animals that are half dead already. I will never go here again and I would highly recommend no one else gets anything from this place. I have never seen a pet store with animals kept in such appalling condition. Upon entering you are greeted with the smell of rodent pee and blueberries (because they were burning scented candles), Bird cages overflowing with feces, starving reptiles (multiple animals were so starved you could see the bones) and absolutely filthy fish tanks. When i spoke to the manager on duty today about the conditions of the animals, his response was "call animal control and theyll just laugh". i can not understand how that place is still open. read more

Of course this isn't PetSmart or Petco but I had a very good experience buying a young parakeet. Even after extensive research the employee was very insightful and gave me loads of advice I couldn't have gone without. They also run a great deal on bird cages and supplies for first time buyers that are without those essentials. A great deal you can't find in the big stores. Was pleasantly surprised with the service after reading the other reviews. Apollo is on day 2 in his new home and has been enjoying the radio playing just for him. He's still a little shy but he's started eying his toys and even perched on my finger for a small moment. read more

PLEASE LISTEN!!! DON'T SHOP HERE!!! The store was ABSOLUTELY FILTHY, it looked and smelled like they haven't cleaned anything in there for months. All of their animals were neglected and most were SEVERELY thin. I got an iguana from Petco for $30, he was healthy and properly cared for, here there was an iguana that was FRIGHTENING thin and seemed sick from the conditions he was living in and they wanted 70 DOLLARS. The only reason ANYONE would shop here is because they feel sorry for the animals and the way they are treating them!!!! read more

I would like to start out by saying excited I was to find a pet store that was close to home and seemed to have a great variety animals. Our first trip to the store was great as we were getting some fish for my sons newly upgraded fish tank. I was like wow this is our spot. We returned multiple times for a variety of things. My experience the past two times however were a despicable display of greed. My son had a guinea pig that died suddenly and he was very upset so after the burial and a time for him to mourn I was like we will head over to Pet Paradise and they will get us what we need. I called ahead to ensure they had some in stock and we headed out. Keep in mind this is a 40 minute drive. We get there and my son immediately fell in love with 2 of the 4 that were in stock. When we went up from to ask for assistance they promptly told us that they would not sell more than one and we had to buy a cage and all the accessories before we could purchase one from there. I was immediately frustrated dealing with a child mourning a pet and these guys trying to turn a dollar. I explained that we had a habitat and all the items we needed to care for the animal properly and was replacing one that had died. After huffing and puffing the clerk said he would call the manager and see if he would allow it. After telling me a story about how those were the only 4 guinea pigs in Ky and they flew those in from Oklahoma they would go ahead this time and sell one. If I waited 30 days we could come and get a companion. Ok so I was frustrated but I bought it because my son really needed to replace the one he had lost. So 30 days later we go in today to get that companion and low and behold the same song and dance about them being the only ones in the state and would only sell me one if I bough all the accessories which are so much higher than your competitors. We were also there for more fish. The manager was rude and a complete jerk. I will never return to this location for anything. First time we've ever visited and it was absolutely horrid. The store looks like it's never been cleaned. The ferret cage looked like it had never been attended to - it was absolutely disgusting - poop caked all over the walls of it. Their snakes were in extremely small tanks - two ball pythons approximately 4-5 foot each were in a 30 gallon tank. They had a green tree python approximately 5 foot in a tank that would be considered appropriate for a chameleon. We drove an hour just to visit this store, and left within 5 minutes. Such a disappointment! None of the employees even acknowledged we were in there besides to move a dirty bucket of water off the floor. I would NOT recommend even wasting your time on walking in their door. read more

I went into Pet Paradise yesterday to get feeders. I wanted four dozen. When the guy went into the back of the store to get them. He came back and said he only had 3 dozen and gave me the bag. I payed for the fish. Never received a thank you or anything to acknowledge that I just spent $10 at your store. I looked at the bag of fish and there were two goldfish died floating in the bag. I asked the guy about the ones floating and he said he didn't count them. I still don't understand why he put dead fish in my bag. But I didn't say nothin else just left the store. Before I even got home mine was dead in the bag. Probably because of the amount of ammonia in the bag from the dead fish. I Dont plain on going back to this store anytime soon. This place use to be a good place but has went down hill fast. read more

So about a month ago I went to Pet Paradise and bought 3 parakeets and a cage and also other supplies my granddaughter would need almost 130 .00 ...within the first week the female died....I called they said prob died trying to lay egg. I asked if I could get another one at a discount and the owner said no. Now today 1 of the other birds died ...I'm not expecting the last one to live either , I think they might be diseased or something and that is why they were cheaper than everywhere else. Just wanted to let anyone know who might be considering a bird to be careful about this place....I wish I would have checked other places before I spent so much. read more

The chinchilla didn't have water in its bottle. The ferrett had nothing to play with except for a hanging toy in a small cage. Also, it was biting on the bars of its cage because it was so stressed. In each hamster cage there was at least 3-4 Syrian hamsters living together. And about 3-4 dwarf hamsters living together. I saw one syrian hamster with a infected cut on its side, probably from fighting with the other hamsters. All hamsters need at least 450 sq ft of floor space in their cage not even one cage was as near as big as it should be. ALSO, NONE of the cages had wheels in them. Lastly, almost in every fish tank had at least one dead floating fish in it. - An 12 yr old child that knows more about animals than the people running the shop. (however all the people are super nice they just need to use their brain:) ) read more

I walked in there to get crickets one day for my Crested Gecko and walked around for a bit to see the conditions of the store. All the fish tanks were horribly dirty, there were TWO Chinchillas in a small rabbit cage with only 2 small shelters, their reptiles seemed to be stuck in their sheds, the birds seemed to be plucking AND when I got my dozen crickets it was only 8 and half of them were already dead! I will never come back and I honestly don't think anyone else should support their mistreatment of animals. read more

Please do not buy hermit crabs from this store. They are in painted shells, which are toxic to them. They are kept in a wire cage, so not proper humidity or heat for them. They have only bare wood and wire to walk on. Hermits breathe through modified gills. Those gills must stay moist in order for them to live. Kept too long in open cages like this, they will suffocate slowly. I contacted them through their FB page and offered them care info and they responded by banning me from the page! read more
