The menu is your usual fish and chip shop fayre with a kebab or two thrown into the mix. The portion sizes are huge and for £4 you can get a very large fish with a large portion of chips, which easily feeds 2 or even 3 (less greedy) people. The food is delicious and the fish is always really well cooked (Crispy batter with no soggyness between the fish and batter). If you don't feel like cooking and you are in the area, this place is well worth a visit (even worth a visit if you are not in the area!!).

Back in the late 70's and early 80's, we used to drop in on a Friday night and the queue use to be outside the door and sometimes much further down. We would order a variety of food from fish n chips to steak and kidney pie and chips, etc. Over the years we got to know Sam and his family well at the chippy shop and from the late 1980's through to the mid-1990's my brother or I, and sometimes both of us would walk in on a Friday night and order a whole chicken, two large bags of chips and a small bag of mushrooms (for my brother). We would eat the lot and polish it down with a bottle of Lambrusco, ahhhh. My mouth is watering right now... . I miss traditional English fish n chips in the United States; I have lived across the US over the last 11 years and nowhere has come close to Sam's chippy from the 1980's on Upper Villier Street, Wolverhampton. I have bumped into Sam at Waitrose on the Penn Road every now and again during my visits back to the Uk, but not sure what he is up to now.
