In addition to experiencing a much more community based service, while feeling like you are maintaining such community spirit, the shop also stocks an array of those much needed items, perfect for if you forget something and don't want to walk into town. Such items range from bird feed, to milk, to plastic insect cages; there really is something for everyone, with a most welcomed personal touch!

From artwork, model & actual ship pieces, sports trophies & even a cafe it was just amazing. Around every corner there was something to see. What I really liked was in some areas there were lounge pieces that you could take a seat on. On the 3rd floor which had much of the paintings is where I sat I know for about an hour. It was just that pretty. What I also liked was the way those working that day were being quite nice. I travel a bit & will be honest and say sometimes museum staff can be unwelcoming. At times I've even felt I was being followed like I was a child who didn't know NOT to touch the items. It was not the case here! As I was admiring the whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling, one even came to explain some pretty cool details of how it got there & even suggested a part of the museum many over look. Had a light snack in the cafe. Great service, tea was nice & hot. I can't wait to visit Dundee again so I can visit this gallery again. I could spend a whole day in there. Yelp on my friends!

Having said that, St Andrews feels like one of the safest places in the UK and the police undoubtedly have some part to play in this. In all my time in St Andrews, the services I have had from the police have always been positive. They take calls seriously - problems with noisy neighbours are always dealt with efficiently and with anonymity. They often follow up services afterwards with calls to ensure that they can only improve. Additionally, going in to find information direct from the police station is always staffed by someone friendly and helpful. Overall, a practical service, but met with friendliness.

House of Dun is worth a visit for these things alone, though I'm certain the inside is great too. I'll just have to return again.

Therefore, no photos of the castle were allowed during the tour. Pictures were allowed in the waiting area prior to the tour as well as in a room at the end of the tour. There was plenty of information provided on the history of the family and castle. Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (Queen Mother) lived here, and her daughter, Princess Margaret, was born at Glamis Castle. It was also home to Queen Elizabeth II. This castle was the inspiration for William Shakespeare's Macbeth. Overall, the castle, gardens, and grounds were well maintained. When we got to the castle, we had to stand in a line to get in. The weather was on and off drizzly. However, the tour was well worth the wait. There is a gift shop and coffee shop. Glamis Castle has many beautiful gardens accessible to the public and are not a part of the tour. Weddings and other events are held at Glamis Castle.

This was a nice photogenic castle to visit, on the exterior anyway as no photos were allowed…read moreinside. It's located in the countryside about 30 minutes to the north of the town of Dundee. It was the childhood home of the late Queen Elizabeth. The grounds around the castle are open and well maintained as there is nothing else in the vicinity of the castle. Our tour group also had a nice little soup and sandwich lunch here in their on-site restaurant.
