I contacted 4 different local accounting service businesses and ultimately decided on Hongda & Gil Tax. I made an appointment and drove down at the end of February. Since it was my first time, they did have to get copies of our Drivers' licenses. I came alone, but happened to have a photo of my husband's and emailed it. During the initial set up, I waited in a common break room. They had water, coffee and vending machine if you wanted any snacks. After waiting about 10 minutes, I went in for my actual appointment. Everything was fairly quick, I was asked a few questions, provided advice on things to change on our W4, and told how much I would get back and what I owed. I checked my direct deposit a couple weeks later and saw I had already received by money back from the State! LOL The fee was also reasonable; just a tad higher than what my previous accountant charged, but the processes was really smooth and so fast. Definitely coming here again next year.

I was told in a very rushed manner to call back after the April tax filing deadline after I had initially made contact with a female representative here. I even explained what I needed assistance with. Well, I called back after that time hoping to secure an appointment for the same reason, and then I was told by the same female subject that no assistance would be provided to me. I was instead advised to consult with a tax attorney. At the last minute, I ended up calling a 75+ year-old tax prep who used to do my family's taxes in EAST LOS ANGELES decades ago (who still sees clients in his home), and he knew exactly which form I was referring to. The gentleman literally walked me through the F.T.B. form in less than 10 minutes. He even invited me to send SMS pictures so he could review my work... at no cost. What a glaring difference.

I ended up having to use another CPA and paid late fees to the IRS. I left at least 3-4 voicemails and 5 follow up emails. She never called me back or replied to my email to let me know what was going on. It shows a lot that she has 0 care for her clients. It would be nice to at least email me that she couldn't do my tax. But she was just gone and missing in action. Plus I just got a letter from IRS penalties of $1680. Be careful with this service

She took her fee, and then started asking me for money to pay the state of California for taxes etc. to finalize closing the company. Despite paying her, I started getting letters from the state saying I still owed money to EDD, and then late notices and then collection notices. When I would ask her about these letters, she would say there was someone at the state she "was talking to" and that it was being handled. She also asked me for $200 more than her initial fee for the work she was doing. I kept getting notices from the State and then she went radio silent on me and I couldn't get any response whatsoever from her on the status of my file. I finally called EDD and was told she had never made any payments on my behalf. Now I am in the process of filing a small claims case to recoup my money from her. Do not do any business with this fraudulent individual. UPDATE: I had to file a small claims case against Gloria Short to recoup the money she took from me and now she is dodging the process server.
