Previously, I had been to Obici for my and my children's medical issues, and I didn't really know about HMC until now. When I arrived, I was given a buzzer and told to wait in the lobby. The lobby area is beautiful--bright and comfortable. Looking out the window I could see the pond, fountain and trees. It was so peaceful and relaxing. I waited about 15 minutes before my buzzer went off. I then went to registration and it took about 10 minutes. Afterwards, I had to go sit back in the lobby, but I needed to use the restroom, and when I came back out, my buzzer was going off again. That was fast! The procedure (EKG) was quick and the nurse who took care of me was very nice. We chatted and I felt very at ease with her. All of the staff were nice but she was exceptionally good at her job. Overall, my time at HMC took about 45 minutes and I was impressed. I wish I had used this place instead of Obici for other instances in the past. This building is clean and so bright and cheery! I would definitely recommend HMC when you need medical care.

Bon Secours has been my go to for ER care when needed. I recently visited Bon Secours Health…read moreMedical Center in Harbourview, Suffolk, Va. and was very disappointed with the lack of patient privacy during my visit. Due to ongoing renovations, patients were seated and treated in the hallway. While I understand that construction can create challenges, there was little to no effort made to maintain confidentiality. Doctors were openly discussing patients' medical conditions, concerns, and treatment plans within clear earshot of others. Sensitive health information should not be easily overheard in a public hallway setting. Is it not important that healthcare facilities have a responsibility to protect patient privacy, even during renovations. I hope the administration addresses this issue promptly to ensure patients feel safe, respected, and protected when receiving care.
