I attended a wedding ceremony at Atlanta Chinese Christian Church North, so this review is written…read morefrom my perspective and experience as a wedding guest. At the time of writing this review, there are three Atlanta Chinese Christian Churches (known as "ACCC" or "A triple C") in metro Atlanta: this one in Alpharetta, the original in Tucker (also known as the "mother church" as I've heard it referred to several times), and a relatively new location in Marietta known as ACCC Northwest. I visited the original ACCC in Tucker in 2001, when I was an undergrad at Georgia Tech and new to Atlanta, for Sunday school and church service. It would be 17 years until I returned to an ACCC campus (this one). This church is located on the east side of Alpharetta, near Johns Creek, and not too far from Duluth. It's in the suburbs north of town and a solid 40-minute drive, at least, from downtown Atlanta. This is a nice-looking church that looks fairly modern with ample parking and comfortable, theater-style seating in the sanctuary. I only visited the lobby, sanctuary, and men's restroom. The front of the church is nice because there's a covering above the driveway, directly in front of the main entrance, which allows people to stay dry, if it's raining, when they're dropped off and picked up. The lobby and hallways outside the sanctuary are relatively spacious. The sanctuary itself is functional. I like how the rows of seats gradually slant downwards towards the elevated stage. This means there's less of a chance of people's heads in front of you blocking your view. The seats were comfortable and the viewing angles and sight lines were excellent. The sanctuary has a contemporary look with vaulted, slanted ceilings, good lighting, and plenty of ventilation. I guesstimate there were about 100 or so guests at the ceremony. The venue was quiet and intimate. I thought the sanctuary was a practical place to hold the ceremony. The bride, groom, their parents, the wedding party, and others walked down the beautiful, floral-decorated center aisle to the stage. The bride, groom, and officiant were up on stage, easy for everyone to see, while the wedding party stood on the steps (also easy for everyone to see). The sound quality over the sanctuary's ceiling-suspended speakers was great. The audio was loud, crisp, and clear. The multiple microphones worked well. Those who spoke or sang over the microphones were easy to hear and the music sound quality, both live and recorded, was very good. One thing I appreciated about the sanctuary was how well it handled large group photos. After the ceremony was over, the bride and groom arranged for professional photographers to take various group pictures of them with their wedding guests. Some of the groups were quite large, but the wide stage and multiple steps made it easy to take big group shots. The photographers had their fancy studio-style flashes set up and ready to go. The photo session was quite efficient thanks to slides, projected on two projection screens above either side of the stage, that instructed which group was to come to the stage for photos and which group was next up. In addition, someone was on a microphone to help direct the crowd. I thought that (the whole photos thing) was a terrific idea. Finally, the men's restroom was clean and in good condition.

There is something very special about NPCC…read more You can feel the presence of the Divine there. I am new to Atlanta, so visit as many as 3 church services every Sunday searching for Divine inspiration & wonderful fellow Christians (THE ONE AND ONLY RELIGION STARTED BY A PROVEN GOD!). Keep feeling myself drawn back to 3 churches, including NPCC. NPCC is unique for having a very dynamic, sincere and magnetic pastor, brilliant sermons, excellent music, a big Auditorium that is very full with lots of beautiful happy adults of all ages in the audience, even more beautiful and happy children in fun rooms with wonderful leaders built around the massive Auditorium. And a sense of the Divine in almost every child & adult I observed & had contact with. Excellent, friendly outside crew efficiently directing you to open parking spaces when arriving & safe exits following the service. (This is more unusual than a great leader). During the last 8 months, I have lived in 4 States from Wyoming (my home) to Atlanta where I luckily own some nice houses. And I will be returning here often. I have not missed at least one church service (sometimes several) every Sunday since - God spoke to me twice - in a very normal male voice that just sounded like a 40 year old friend (I think He recognized His personal intervention was the ONLY way I would have any hope of living with Him in Heaven (wherever that is...)! Until then, I may have attended a church service 3-10 times a year for Easter, Christmas... (I had His invisible presence on an invisible horse riding next to me as I grew up on huge ranches. So why did I need to attend a church?). Now I know. And when I did attend, I was driven to select special churches with good people and great Pastors/Priests! North Point is one of THE VERY BEST I have ever experienced! Attending events there, joining with good people and being inspired by Godly leadership is memorable & life changing!

I was excited about this church ... the messages were clear, on point and Bible based, the music was great and the staff is wonderful. The church facility is very nice as well. So what's the problem(?) The issue for my husband and I was the piping in of secular music in the church before church service starts. The Sunday I'm speaking of we heard "Earth, Wind and Fire". We were confused :{. Our feeling is that there is a time and a place for that and not in God's house. God's House is Holy ground and only Holy things should take place there. The same with the Church anniversary party in the park, gospel was played then secular party music was played, then gospel then secular music, then gospel, etc. Again, we were in happy reverence and praise mode then came party music.... we were so confused.... We left the event very early and have not been back to this church since. We really thought we had found a church home and were left sad and disappointed to have to leave. Though we loved this church we Love the God more and have to follow the Holy Spirit and not man. I cannot express how much we loved this church and are sad to stop going but for God we'd still be visiting.

PREACH!! So the…read morehubby and I have been shopping for a new church, something intimate with a mix of traditional and contemporary music. We do not want that nightclub masquerading as a church type of atmosphere and you know exactly what I mean. We attended this type of church in the past. It was relatively small and just starting to grow. They had painted all of the walls and the ceiling black and added large round tables and chairs. The music was very loud and very contemporary performed from a stage that looked as if it was set up for comedy night. The final straw was when they started taking old secular music and applying Christian lyrics so while they are singing about Jesus all I can hear are the original lyrics to the Soft Cell classic: "Touch me please, I cannot stand the way you tease". These are not the lyrics I want to focus on while in church. All they needed to do was add a shot of Hennessy and you would not have been able to distinguish the church from the club. Deuces! Let's be honest, SOME church experiences are so watered down now that it's just ridiculous. People just want to feel comfortable literally and figuratively. Consider this: Church is not supposed to make you comfortable, it is supposed to make you think and feel! And if thinking too hard makes you a little uncomfortable or brings on feelings of guilt, well check yourself, because a little righteous guilt never hurt anyone. Some people need to be "woke"! If you are always dressed to the nines in the latest gear while your children's basic needs are not being met, you need to feel uncomfortable, if you are running around with your best friend's husband, thinking it is perfectly fine, you need to feel uncomfortable to the point that you change your behavior. I think people avoid "real" church to avoid addressing their behavior and because they don't want to change their lifestyle. If you are not there to be challenged and changed, what's the point? Just remember, some things change whether we like it or not and I can guarantee you, it will be much easier for you to initiate that change than to have God decide that you need to be corrected by His mighty hand. You have been officially warned. So now allow me to step away from the pulpit and get on with this review. This church is very simple with a mature population, (Grown Folks Church). Since we were more focused on the message, this was not an issue for us. Here's the deal: You can expect to be greeted in an authentic and sincere manner, (None of those, I just completed greeter training vibes), you will not have to be shuttled in from the local Walmart parking lot because it's not that big, the lights are on because they actually use bibles, (Yes girl like back in the day!). They also have hymnals because they not only provide a bit of contemporary inspiration but they also give you a little bit of "old school" sauce which suits my husband perfectly. Those drums on the stage are not to "rock out" and make your ears bleed, they are actually a very subtle and appropriate accompaniment to the other instruments. Finally, there is no fancy café or family fitness center (been there too), just church. After prayer, music and the announcements were completed, the children were dismissed to "children's church" like when I was a kid. Awww! We then began with the message. Now if you are looking for a flashy preacher who yells, screams and performs from the pulpit, this is not the one. Pastor Gibbs will talk TO you not AT you, he has a great cadence when speaking, (not too slow and not too fast), and he will challenge you to think about what is being said and how it applies to your everyday life. I like that! He uses his bible for points of reference and you can easily follow along and take notes. I use a traditional King James translation so I appreciate having the same and other translations that are close and applicable. I have been in situations where the translation used was unfamiliar to me and so far removed from the original text that it was just pointless. I like being able to take notes and I really abhor the fill in the blank pages, (like 3rd grade), used by certain churches because they don't allow for free thinking and sometimes you are so distracted by what goes into that little blank that you lose focus. Again, they want to make it easy and comfortable. Back to the church: My husband and I both enjoyed the service and will definitely be returning. I still remember the message and know that it will carry me through the rest of the week as it should. Great experience!

Yes, they have a beautiful facility and sanctuary, but we did not find them at all to be a friendly or welcoming church. Both times we visited, we arrived about 20 minutes before the 11am Sunday service and seated ourselves in the sanctuary. No one greeted us or spoke to us. Our first visit, one female minister greeted us as we were leaving after the service, but not one congregant. Move forward six months, and we decided to try the church a second time, and actually found it to be worse. The only people who greeted us were a couple sitting in front of us, during the service's "greet your neighbor" part of the service. Not one other person, congregant or staff, spoke to us. The congregation seemed cliquish and, also seemed to exemplify a "country club" attitude, where we apparently didn't fit in. At this point, the congregational reading of "Welcome each other; welcome the stranger; welcome all who come..." , to us was just words. This particular past Sunday service was conducted by the "teens". If we had known this ahead of time, we would have chosen another Sunday to attend. If we wanted a contemporary service experience, we would have chosen to go to that service.
