I had to use the restroom next to this business and unfortunately, they did not have anything to dry my hands. I walked out and noticed this woman sitting at this business, and I explained to her that the bathroom did not have anything to wipe my hands with and the hand dryer was broken. I then kindly asked if she would mind if I just got a couple napkins. She gave me a pretty dirty look and said " I will do it this time, but I don't usually don't just give these out to customers.". Now I can understand if I asked for any enormous amount or if I was rude in anyway. But neither of those things happened. My hands were soaking wet dripping on the floor. I also have a very painful condition in my hands so having to use hot or cold water is pretty excruciating on them. So getting them dry quickly is very important. I looked at her and replied with "well I'm only asking for a couple of napkins, I don't think that you needed to be rude about that." I took the napkins and started walking away, and she proceeded to get loud with me and go into detail about how she doesn't just give these out to customers. I turned around and told her very clearly, that I would not be returning to her business and I have been there a couple times before, but I definitely won't be using a business that treats me like this. She then got loud again, telling me that she did not care what I did and if I came back or not. I then turned around and looked at her, and I asked if she was the owner or if she just worked there. She said she was the owner. I was shocked. I told her, well an owner should absolutely not be acting like this. It's also the holidays, you could be a little bit kinder. It's just napkins. If it was that big of a deal, I could pay for them. She then proceeded to tell me that, that is what the hand dryer is for. Then took her hands and literally showed me how you would use them under a hand dryer. Absolutely uncalled for. So I told her I was going to take a picture and post this on this page and she sure stopped getting loud with me then. Now, don't get me wrong, I understand that a lot of people take advantage of small businesses. But there is no way that I would have turned somebody down that was standing there with soaking wet hands and could see they were in need. If I were to give napkins away for free at my business, and I want to make this clear again, she was the owner, I could've made this an opportunity to gain a customer or a return customer at this point by offering if there was anything I would like to purchase or to please make sure to come back and visit me, etc. I just thought I would share this so others knew how some of the customers were treated at this location. I know there's a lot of people out there like myself that are big on customer service and especially when it's the owner of a company. If this were just an employee, I really would not have posted. I do believe in supporting local and small businesses, but I will not be supporting this one again. Also, with looking online at their reviews where this business is advertised, there are quite a few negative reviews against the owner herself being rude to other customers as well.

Before we even had a chance to look at the menu, a server came over and told us we needed to move because they were about to mop that section. We moved without complaint. Our food came out fairly quickly, and it actually tasted good. Unfortunately, right as we started eating, they began mopping the floors with some kind of strong cleaner that made us nauseated. They mopped right by our table--my husband even joked that he was surprised they didn't ask us to lift our feet. By that point, several employees already had their coats on and were giving us looks like they just wanted us gone. We felt rushed, uncomfortable, and couldn't even finish our meal because of the chemical smell. The food itself was good, but the experience was terrible. But first, I needed to drive us there. Or at least attempt to drive us there. My mental map on where this was located ended up getting crossed with another place in another shopping center in Peoria. Once I punched in the address and arrived at the proper spot, I was in a better mood. The inside of Jalapenos is your standard Mexican restaurant. If you don't know what that is, let me tell ya. Think of your typical restaurant, but with Mexican music playing... things on the menu that you will horribly butcher the name of... heavy use of green, white, and red after their national flag... cultural paintings and decor spread throughout. That's pretty typical of the Mexican places I've been to and Jalapenos was no different. Some lean a bit heavier in to the cultural side of things, most places will make you feel like you stepped in to a restaurante in an actual city in Mexico. I actually prefer it that way because I would make a terrible mess and drop the contents of said burrito all over my plate. Digging in, I knew that the looks were deceiving. This was just what a hangry me needed. Each bite was full of flavor without one ingredient overpowering the others. While the cheese topping was shredded and not the poured over that I prefer (that may have just been my fault for not reading the menu in my hungry haste), it was still delectable. Doing what I normally do (as avid readers of this blog will know), I gathered up one of my friends who likes to travel (Matt) and we headed over the Illinois River (not the Peoria River) to get some ice cream (and add more bracketed comments to this paragraph for no reason). The location of Las Delicias is a bit of an odd one. Actually, those whole road of shops is not a greatly planned out area. You have all these shops along Main St but the parking situation leaves a lot to be desired. You usually have to hunt for a place to park and sometimes walk a small distance to your destination. I just wanted to put this in here as a warning should you want to venture down Main St. Matt and I found a place to park and headed in. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly cashier and shop that was small and felt homely (in a good way). This place truly felt like it was a family-owned. Matt and I browsed the handful of offerings and I was surprised by the flavors. Granted, this was over 5 years ago, so I don't remember the specifics and I failed to take a photo of what was being offered at the time. I grabbed some kind of strawberry ice cream while Matt got himself some flavor that I never heard of before. We paid for our ice cream desserts and headed out. I think there were a few chairs inside to sit but due to the small-sized of the restaurant, we opted to eat outside as we walked back to my car. I am a sucker for strawberry (and peanut butter) flavored treats. At this point in my life, I had quite a few different strawberry-flavored items but this one is the only one that instantly blew me away. Something about the quality of this dessert was unreal. It was far and above beyond anything you would find in the store unless you option for the expensive stuff. This stuff tasted homemade and had love in every scoop. I can't properly describe how much I loved this ice cream cone and how sad I was when it was gone. If you find yourself in Peoria and are on a circuit of trying out all the ice cream places, this one needs to be at the top of your list. You won't regret it.
