I hired Perfection Inspection for a "check-up" inspection after living in my home for about 4 years. I'd changed out some appliances and fixed some issues from the original inspection, and noticed a few things over the last few years I wanted a professional opinion on all at once. Inspectors, in my opinion, are the absolute best for this, because they have a bit of experience with everything, but no incentive to scare you into into bigger and bigger maintenance/repair jobs. I couldn't be happier with my decision to hire them. From the moment I inquired about their services, Perfection Inspection was attentive and responsive in their communication. Jim was both professional and personable. After he arrived, he indulged me with some conversation about the home, his experiences with homeownership, my dog, etc. Jim is such a comfortable person to talk to that, before I knew it, I'd already wasted an hour of his time! Once his ear had been thoroughly talked off (not that he raised so much as a word of complaint) he was extremely efficient in his initial survey of the home. Within 45 minutes, he'd checked over the entire exterior and garage. He checked in with me and told me his findings so far, heard my concerns, and answered my questions. I was thrilled to notice that he'd paid extra attention to the concerns I had raised during our first conversation. This "efficient but thorough examination followed by check-in and Q&A" repeated 3 more times, once each for the interior, the attic, and the crawlspace. Not only did Jim find more than the original inspection or the initial building inspector did, he also took the time to make sure I understood the severity of the various issues and what options I could pursue for fixing them. He gave candid advice about what could be DIY'd, what should be hired out, and on what timeframes he'd recommend various jobs be done. Already, this would be easily worth the $450 I paid, but what has secured me as a "shout from the rooftops" advocate is the extra care Jim gave to my home. He spotted an issue with one of my windows and walked me through how to fix it then and there -- the kind of thing I've had on my to-do list for a year but just didn't know how to tackle. He was extremely respectful and careful of my belongings (and I'll be the first to admit my lack of tidiness -- there was much more of my junk laying around than there should be!) Finally, he was patient and kind to my overenthusiastic puppy, even checking with me about how to help keep the pup safe as he went in and out of the building. Hire this man. If you're a seller, have him check your property before you sell. If you're a buyer, rest easy knowing that if Jim misses something, it's probably not something you'll ever need to notice. read more

Jim is the most thorough and knowledgeable home inspector. His use of the thermal imaging camera is so helpful to see if a leak is active or just staining from a past water event. Since he knows how to repair everything, he can tell you if this is a super expensive fix or a fairly easy repair. I like that, otherwise buyers can get spooked by a home inspection. read more

excelent knowledge, incredibly thorough, reasonable price. was available for questions advice and help well after the deal closed. highly recommended read more

UPDATE: I'm happy to say I was able to work with Jim twice now, after his first inspection, I looked over his report and quickly saw the home had way too many patch jobs and disrepair that wasn't visable during a walk through. I wouldn't have been able to afford it long term. Recently he inspected the second home I was interested in. He was just as friendly, professional and thurough as before. I cannot recommend him enough. Do yourself a favor and hire this guy. He works HARD, and you can tell he really cares about his job, and his customers. Original review: I had the absolute pleasure of having Jim inspect a potential home of mine, and let me tell you, this guy was thurough! He looked at things I would never even think of. He explained everything he found / any potential problems clearly and with absolute honesty. He was also very friendly and answered any questions I did have easily. His report was also clear, easy to understand woth photo proof of everything he stated. I'm blown away. I would recommend them to anyone looking for an honest and thurough inspection. I feel alot more comfortable now that I know what's up with my potential home. Very happy with the service! Thank you! read more

This is the fourth (4th) time, over 8 years, we have used Jim Allheiser of Inspection Perfection. The fact that we have used him four times really says it all, and we are very picky lol. Jim inspects things that you wouldn't even know need inspecting, but they do! Jim is personable, highly responsive, and thoroughly professional. If you choose to attend the Inspection, which I recommend, Jim will happily explain what is *wrong, and what it will take to make it *right -- whether you are hiring contractors, doing it yourself, or *persuading the seller to make good. We absolutely will use Perfection Inspection again for any future real estate transaction. read more

Our kids purchased their first in Dallas Oregon July 2018, Jim from Perfection Inspection was very thorough and also took time out answer questions. We then hired Jim October 2018 to do an inspection on our new home we purchased in Dallas. Again took his time, was very thorough and answered questions. He even educated us on things. We are in our 11 month and our 1 year warranty is about up. We hired Jim this month (September 2019) again for a re-inspection to pass on fixes and etc. to our builder. Jim is awesome and we highly recommend him. Thank you Jim! read more

Jim was absolutely amazing. He was very thorough, friendly, answered questions, and really helped explain things to us first time home buyers. We would recommend him to anyone! read more

I've recommended Jim as a home inspector for several years now. He has a very educational style in his interactions with my clients that they really appreciate. There are no stupid questions and he encourages buyers to ask about anything. His reports are the best. He takes a lot of photos, which makes repair negotiations incredibly helpful as an agent. I can just hand contractors the report and it is totally clear what the buyer is asking for in a repair. They are also great as a punch list for sellers on presale inspections. read more

Jim was amazing! I'm not surprised in the least with all of the high reviews he has registered. Just in the first few minutes of meeting with him, It was very apparent that he is highly skilled at his job. He maintained a very visible level of professionalism and his reporting results were extremely detailed. He made us very comfortable as buyers during the inspection process and there wasn't one question that he couldn't answer. Simply put, he's not only a great Home Inspector, but also a great guy. We will definitely recommend him to anyone needing elite level inspection services. read more

Jim is the man. My husband and I recently bought a house and we hired Jim to do the inspection. I literally have zero experience with construction or fixing anything; I break stuff. Jim willingly and happily walked me through every single thing he noticed with the house. When I had no idea what he was talking about, he'd laugh and dumb it down for me. He was great with explaining why and how certain things need to be maintained and why a specific issue was a safety concern. He also pointed out things that we should keep in mind for the future. The report we were given was extensive, informative, and easy to read. This guy is super duper thorough and even though we didn't have all the items he noticed fixed, it left us with a list of things we can do/work on over time. Highly recommend. read more

Jim was very thorough in his inspection of our newly built home. His report was delivered quickly and was very easy to understand - including photos of problem areas. I chose him because he has the equipment to see problems IN walls. I am very happy with our decision to use Jim as our inspector and would do it again. read more

We couldn't have asked for a more thorough home inspection. I have to agree with the other yelpers.

Jim is awesome! He was so friendly, helpful and responsive throughout the inspection phase of our home purchase and afterwards. He did an extremely thorough job on our inspection, gave us so much helpful information, and walked us through everything he was observing. He patiently explained what he was finding in clear layman's terms and the report he provided upon completion was detailed and full of photos to help us continue our negotiations as well as prepare us for being new homeowners. It is clear that he has both an extensive knowledge of home construction and a passion for evaluating and assessing a home's condition. Agree with the other reviews--he is conscientious, thorough, able to explain everything in a way you can understand, and the reports he provides will give you everything you need to know for getting repairs, working through negotiations, and preparing for future potential home expenses. We highly recommend Perfection Inspection! read more

I would highly recommend Jim for any home inspections you may need. He is very knowledgable, thorough, detail oriented and does not miss a thing no matter how small. His inspection of our brand new home found numerous items needing correction and or repair. Once the builder is complete fixing and correcting we will have Jim confirm we are good to go. Talk about peace of mind the BEST money we will ever spend on this home! No home is perfect but as Jim said his job is to get your home as close to perfect as possible before you buy it. Thank you Jim for providing your excellent services to our family! read more

I was completely impressed with the quality and amount of useful information, web links, videos, and pictures included in Jim's report. I could not personally be with Jim during the inspection as we were moving across the country. Jim's final report left me with a great deal of confidence in making the purchase. He identified some serious issues that we had missed in our viewing of the home as well as making recommendations for further improvements for energy savings. I would definitely recommend Jim to anyone looking to buy a home. read more

Jim Allhiser inspected a property we were hoping to purchase in Salem, OR. We have purchased nine homes previous to this one and have rarely been impressed with the inspection services for which we paid. Jim is a huge exception to this rule. He was thorough, engaging, and specific in his explanations about the issues he identified with the house. As a woman, buying a home alone for the first time, I was prepared to wade through lots of mumbo jumbo. He explained the importance of his findings without speaking down to me. Further, the report he created, which is easily accessible on line, included pictures and even links to laws, rules, and more information. The software he uses actually allowed me to create a list of requested repairs or replacements generated directly from his report. I can also make comments on any of the items. This was important because some items might have been acceptable to me, but would not pass the FHA appraisal. This feature allowed our realtor to communicate very clearly with the seller's realtor, including the importance of the needed improvements. I was also pleasantly surprised by the cost (a bit lower than some of the other estimates I got for the inspection). Normally I would grumpily say, "This inspection cost us $$$." This time around, I am saying this inspection and inspector may have saved us hundreds of thousands of dollars. I would recommend this company to anyone and will! Perfection Inspection is an apt name! Thanks Jim! read more

Perfection Inspection is just not a clever business name but a business philosophy and approach to how Jim conducts his inspections. He has a genuine nose for potential problems and issues as on the day of the inspection, he was walking the property and caught a "whiff" of oil in the air and suspected a buried oil tank. Sure enough, the property had a buried tank containing oil and water on the property that the seller did not know about and agreed to take the appropriate action to remove / decommission the tank prior to COE. Highly recommend his services to avoid hidden issues and help you know of problems before you finalize your purchase. read more

We are in the process of purchasing our 3rd house. Perfection Inspection was by far the most thorough inspection we have ever had! We will hire Jim again. He is very skilled at what he does! read more

Jim did a fantastic job on the home inspection. We sincerely appreciated how thoroughly he went through everything and paid special attention to the items that were causing us some concern. His extremely detailed, clearly written report will be kept for years to come as a fix-it checklist. On top of it all, he was fun to work with and even gave me some great gardening advice! read more

Jim was friendly, professional and very meticulous in providing a thorough inspection of our prospective home. We felt confident in his ability to evaluate needed repairs. He was careful and detail oriented. He provided a clear report that was easy to understand and very helpful to future contractors, the real estate agents and to us; as prospective home buyers - and to the home sellers. His thoughtful inspection of the home demonstrated his professionalism, the quality of experience and his genuine commitment to performing the best home inspection possible. He was honest, straight-forward and he clearly cares about his work and professional reputation. Jim also used modern equipment to help him to identify original structures (where a door had been removed and covered with dry wall, for example) and appropriate heat output of electrical panels and other difficult to determine evaluations. We highly recommend his service to anyone in need of a good home inspection. read more
