Not even close to Perfect Painting...
We hired Perfect Painting with the expectation of receiving a high-quality, professional paint job--especially given the nearly $10,000 price tag and the polished portfolio they presented. Unfortunately, what we experienced was far from what was promised. From poor preparation and careless execution to a general lack of professionalism, the results are not only disappointing but have left us with additional work, frustration, and no remaining budget to correct the mistakes. To be fair, Perfect Painting has offered to return and correct their mistakes. We don't trust them to do this and have passed on his offer.
Unfortunately, the project was riddled with issues, both in workmanship and professionalism. Here's a summary of the most significant concerns:
* Lack of Proper Protection: Floors or furniture weren't properly covered at the start of prep or painting. This resulted in paint splatter, dust, and debris accumulating throughout our living spaces--completely unacceptable for any professional crew.
* Improper Door Painting Despite Setup: We went to great lengths to rearrange our garage to provide ample space for a clean, controlled painting area. Instead, the crew chose to paint the doors in place upstairs and sprayed the downstairs doors in our bonus room resulting in overspray everywhere.
* Inconsistent Application Methods: Trim and baseboards on the first floor were painted using a foam brush, while upstairs they were sprayed--leaving visible inconsistencies. To make matters worse, again, overspray was left on surrounding surfaces, indicating a lack of care.
* Wall and Ceiling Preparation Issues: Although a great job was done on the ceilings in the kitchen, bonus room and living-room, the remaining wall prep resulted in high and low spots still visible after numerous coats. The finish is uneven and highlights flaws that should have been properly addressed after each application.
* Neglected Detail Work Around Electrical Fixtures: Years of paint buildup around switches and outlets were simply painted over with no attempt to level off these ridges. This has caused new wall plates to fit poorly or not at all, indicating no attention to detail or effort to properly finish these areas.
* Poor Finishing in Corners and Angles: Cracks, rough edges, and sloppy seams in corners and angled surfaces show a lack of care during both prep and final paint application.
* Policy Violation - Unauthorized Use of Bathrooms: Per company policy, as confirmed by the owner, Joseph, crew members are not permitted to use the client's personal bathrooms. Despite this clear guideline, the crew disregarded both our expectations and the contractor's stated policy by using our private facilities during the project.
* Unacceptable Cleanup Practices: Painting tools and brushes were washed in our kitchen sink, and a mess was left behind. This was not only unprofessional but also unhygienic.
These are just some of the issues we've documented. While Joseph seems to have the clients best interest at heart, his crew has certainly, at least in our case, fallen short of his own expressed expectations.
