I wish I had Pepe's near Laguna Beach. I'm going to say Pepe's is the best Mexican fast food you can get in the area.. and another wish is for Pepe's to be open until 1AM Friday-Saturday. Service is usually quick and straightforward in the drive thru. Food is consistent with my expectations every time, I recommend the carne asada fries (sub for al pastor), the crunchy beef tacos add sour cream, the green chili quesadilla, and the green/red chili cheese fries. Get red and green salsa. I've personally never dined in, so I can't speak for the dining room. Pepe's is a must try! I'd be here 1-2 times a week if I was a local hahaha read more

We were craving Mexican food (again!), so we stopped at Pepe's. I always order a chile relleno burrito (the BEST ever!), and my husband always orders the machaca burrito. We both decided to switch it up and order something different. I ordered a sope with chicken. It was really good, but it had a bit too much cotija cheese. And, I added tomatoes which made it even better. My husband ordered a shredded beef hard taco and a chicken hard taco. He said both were really good. This place is not a bad one for good Mexican food. I think the portions are pretty good. The tacos here are better than a lot of places around the area, so I really do give them credit for serving more authentic style Mexican food. The workers here are kinda funny in a good way. They like to joke around and make customers' time here interesting. As for the place, perhaps more tidy would be preferable. Some areas in the restaurant don't seem to be as clean, so I'd say it'd be nice for the workers to try to clean every so often. But overall, nice place. read more

Im addicted to their machaca burrito, especially with their pickled red onions. I've had the asada and it's not bad. The meat is very tender which is hard to find at most Mexican food chains. My daughters love the al pastor which I've tried and that too is not bad. But like I said I love the machaca the most. read more

Pepe's has been such a staple in both cities I've lived in (Alhambra and Hacienda Heights). They've always delivered in the quality and quantity of food. Recently (prob last two months or so) they've made a change to the container size of the small carne asada fries BUT I'm not complaining haha. The box is bigger than the slim hotdog-sized container and packed with delicious goodness. The only thing I wish would return to the menu is Fanta Cherry. Food prices has gone up. They even charge for the Yellow Chilis 3 pieces for $1.50!!! So expensive and the chilis are way smaller than before!!! It doesn't even cover the container that it comes with. They used to give those out for free But not anymore. However, they're really good!!! And tasty!! I usually just get the Carne Asada Fries. It's super filling. It comes with guacamole, asada, and cheese, and sour cream. It's really good! I like their hot sauces that you can choose too. Don't forget to ask for the radishes, lemons, ginger. Cuz they don't automatically give those out. There is Drive-Thru. However if you drive straight out to the street, your car underneath will get scratched and it's very very narrow to exit. The dip is very deep. I support all small businesses and I've been coming here for many years!!! And with what I saw that day, they lost my business!!! So I pulled up to the drive through, I ordered my food and of course there's other cars in front of me. I turned to my left and I saw dead rats not one 3 rats!!! Dead!!! Just laying there, and the worst thing about this issue is, there was a worker on his break just sitting there like nothing!!! On his phone! I will never go there again, rats carry a lot of diseases!!! So , I would advise everyone to be cautious if you do decide to eat there.... If you have a rat problem or roach, closed your business for one day exterminate and get rid of the rats seriously, I got sick eating what I ordered. Their tacos are never not crunchy and a delicious (love their potato tacos especially). The carne asada fries never fail to be a great late night treat on the weekends. I haven't been here in about a year but I'm surprised by how much they have raised their prices considering how much food you receive. I understand that all fast food prices have gone up but I don't think the food here is worth the increase. I mean, you can definitely get better and more Mexican food for much cheaper at other nearby restaurants. It's also interesting that they charge an extra 3% for paying with a credit card which you won't see until you get to their drive thru window.
