I have an issue with a National chain repair shop. I own a 2014 Nissan Frontier SV with 70k miles. It is an exceptional pick up, well maintained and very reliable. 1. On Wednesday, 7/24/2024 at 6:30 pm I noticed issues with the truck while I was driving it. The truck died 3 times while I was slowing down to a stop light. The check engine light did not come on. The truck restarted easily. It had never done this before. I was alarmed and I felt like this was a serious safety issue. 2. On Thursday, 7/25/2024 I contacted a local repair shop that was highly recommended on ND. I drove it to their shop. They inspected it and they recommended that I change the spark plugs and the intake manifold gasket. 3. On Friday, 7/26/2024 I contacted again the local repair shop for more details. I discussed the issues with them again and their recommendation and I decided that they were not equipped/qualified to correct the issue with my truck. I called the dealerships, I called a few local repair shops and I decided to take it to this National chain repair shop. I was interested who can diagnose it properly and correct the issue. 4. On Sunday, 7/28/2024 I had the truck towed to the repair store. 5. On Monday, 7/29/2024 the service manager contacted me and told me that the truck needed a new fuel pump, a new fuel filter, new spark plugs and the fuel injectors needed to be cleaned. 6. On Tuesday, 7/30/2024 the store advisor contacted me and told me that the pick-up was repaired and it was ready. I went to the store, I paid and I started it. The check engine light came on. The technician connected the Snap-on diagnostic tool and told me that the NEW fuel pump was defective and it had to be replaced. 7. On Thursday, 8/1/2024 I drove it during the day and it seemed to be ok. At 4:00pm I pulled out of a parking lot and it died. I restarted it and it was dying every time I approached a stop light and stopped. It was difficult to restart it and the check engine light came on. I managed to drive it to a fuel station and fill it up with premium gasoline. I called the store and I had it towed to the store. The truck is driving the worst it has ever driven in the last 10 years. It is driving a lot worse after the store repaired it than when I took it to the store. 8. On Friday, 8/2/2024 I did not hear from the store advisor. 9. It is Saturday, 8/3/2024, 11:00am, I have not heard from the store advisor. 10. It is Saturday, 8/3/2024, 4:30pm, I have not still heard from the store advisor. I contacted the store at 4:30pm to try to correct a billing overcharge. On Friday 7/28/2024 I was told by the tech advisor (by the way, I was told today that he is no longer with the company) that they charge $99.99 for engine diagnostic, but they remove it if they do the work ( I found that to be a statement that every auto repair shop offers). Today, Saturday, 8/23/2024 I was told by the tech advisor that they never remove the engine diagnostic charge. He also told that they found an issue with the crankshaft position sensor and they are still test drive the truck. I had the truck towed twice and I had to lease a rental car twice. I am very angry, disappointed and mistrusting of the repair shop. I am seeking a solution asap. I am seeking recommendation, ideas and advice to help me correct this problem. I called on Tuesday to see when they could get my car in for a oil change. Mind you they have been doing this car for over 6 years. The guy that answered the phone he ask what type of car it was. We told him its a smart 4/2. He said he would have to check to see if his technician was comfortable doing our car.. What!!! So apparently after 20 minutes I got an answer from someone else who answered the phone. Get their at 11 am today, now my appt was at 11:30. He said he had our paperwork written up. I said make sure you put Mobile 1 high milage synthetic in it.. he pauses and said OH we only have penzoil(sp) i said don't you ever put that stuff in my car. He said well we will have to order it. My profile was pulled up it states what we have been using for 6 years.. so we waited for him to get a price he quoted 44.00 for the oil. We said yes. Howeve, while we are waiting on the oil we are going to go grab a bite and bring it back. My husband and myself are both handicapped. Walking across the street was not an option. Once they got done with the oil change 4 hours later finally at 2pm. They couldn't get the payment device to work. We tried it 5 times and two machines. We finally paid in cash just so we could get out of there. The last 2 times ha e been cluster F****. We will not ever go back. read more

I called 8-19-23 to obtain the FREE inspection. I was informed that they were full and I was scheduled for the following day, Sunday 8-20-23 @2pm. How high was the triple digits on Sunday? Who cares, not Pepboys. This is how I was treated when I arrived at 1:45pm on Sunday after driving across town in the heat. Store Manager/Keelan (at least that's who he said he was) was standing behind the register on his phone when I arrived as if they were not busy and he had nothing to do. He didn't even greet me. When I told him that I had an appointment and what it was for, he responded , "What kind of vehicle is it?" I let him know and he stated they couldn't look at the car because they have no openings. He added that they were too busy and that I should have been informed of that the previous day. So why even ask about the type of vehicle (of which I informed them of when I made the appointment), if you have NO openings? I inquired why no one called after looking at the schedule for the day. I asked to speak to a manager, of which he proudly stated that he was the manager. I inquired to speak to his manager; after he looked through his phone, he looked up and stated, I can't give out the Area Director's phone (then what were you scrolling through or was he simply ignoring me and texting-hmmm)? As I headed out the door, I turned around and inquired why he was responding so uncaring, apathetic, and unapologetic. He responded, "I was getting ready to," and then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to come in Monday morning. I've never seen or experienced such a low, uncaring level of care. I called in the morning and asked if I needed to set up an appointment for an alignment. The guy who answered the phone was very kind, and he stated that no, I could just come in because they would be there until 8 PM. I work in Norman, and I ensured I got to this location before 6 PM at like 537. I walked in, and this African American guy; I guess he's like the manager at that location, was aggressive, carefree, and just very dismissive and told me that I couldn't be seen, that there was nothing he could do about it, and oh well I can't be seen. He stated whoever answered the phone was new and, oh well. After I told him this was unprofessional, he still did not care, and I just walked away. It isn't pleasant. It isn't nice. I went in and didn't know if my battery was going out or my alternator. I asked them to check both. They came back and said it was my battery. I bought a new battery and as soon as I left my car stranded me. It was the alternator. Not knowing really where to go due/to elevated cost world wide, my husband and I called around to get the best affordable option for tune-up on 2008 ford frontier after being informed tube-up needed, but current location was squeezing budget. After calling around Pep Boys on N Rockwell had best deal and too far from home. Waiting area, bathroom and coffee area was clean. After tube-up was completed we found out other repair needed to be done but consisted of ordering part, after we agreed part was ordered, overnighted. It did consist of having to leave vehicle, which was okay had a plan "B" just in case anyway, we'll next day my husband received a call stating ordered part not on truck, but to keep "promised repaired delivery time" my husband was informed they ordered from different company and part would arrive by 5:30. Part arrived and vehicle repaired. Manager Kimberly I. Was awesome she made what could have been an "not so good" experience into a very pleasant one. She among the other staff was professional and knowledgeable about the repairs, even the new staff employee did not give information she was not familiar with when I asked a question. She stated I am somewhat new, and I am not aware of the answer to that, but if he will give me a moment, I will ask my manager, so not to give you wrong information. That was very impressionable. I respect the honesty, and the determinant of going down a rabbit hole, and it costing us more unnecessary. $$. I was such a fan of this PepBoys location- so much so that I drive past 2 other locations just to go to this one. I scheduled my oil change and new wipers replacement yesterday at 3:30. I took off work early for this appointment and when I arrived at 3:20 I was asked by the fill in manager if I was leaving my car. I said I was not as I drove across town to come to this location and explained I had an appointment that was confirmed by this location yesterday. He proceeded to tell me that he and the mechanic are the only ones there and it will be 30-45 minutes before they can get to me. I could not wait due to having other plans at 5pm sharp and to be honest, he didn't sound too convincing that I felt they likely would not get to my car for quite a while. This Pep Boy store has been phenomenal until yesterday so I am highly disappointed and disgusted that my business didn't matter. I can go to my Hyundai dealer for much cheaper oil changes, I just truly liked this Pep Boys. I did calk the store today and the same fill in manager answered. He was flippant and defensive when he told me I should have waited because they could have had my car back at 3:45- how would I have known this? This place is very poorly ran and managed I made an appointment on line for Saturday morning at 11am they called me and moved it to 1pm and I dropped it off went back by there to get something out of my vehicle it was still sitting in parking lot at 4 then they finally text me at 610 pm saying it would be Tuesday before it's ready they had to order a part I sent a text saying please order call them back 7 times on Monday with no anwser they finally call me back Monday night at 6pm and he said I didn't tell him to order the part which then I had to send him a screen shot because he blamed me for not texting him back which i did then he told me it would be Thursday long story short don't use this place I wish I would have looked at the reviews before using them they have a ton of bad reviews please go somewhere else! read more

Went in at 4:45 to get my oil changed. I was told it was 31.99 for a standard oil change. I asked them if they were going to use the oils that is recommended from the factory on my truck and they said yes. When the asked me to select the brand I told them the brand but that my truck requires synthetic blend. They then told me my oil change would be $67. I was disappointed that I was told they would use the recommended oil but when they showed me the oil, it was not the right kind. They then said they would start on my truck in 25-30 minutes. I said that was fine and that I was going next door to academy. They then said they would call me when it's done. I spent an hour and fifteen minutes at academy. When I went back to pep boys they said they hadn't started yet but I was next and they will start in 5-10 minutes. I went to the waiting area and waited 45 minutes and my truck never moved. I walked to the service desk and asked them what was taking so long. They then said they were about to pull it in. I went to the waiting area and sat for fifteen minutes and my truck didn't move. I went to the service desk to see four of their employees goofing around. I then asked for my keys and left. No one at the service desk apologized for the poor customer service. Went there for an alignment and tire rotation. After more than an hour, was told they "Don't have the proper tool" to do an alignment on my vehicle. Odd that a ship that does alignments wouldn't have the proper tools to do one on my Dodge Ram pickup, considering everything on it is s5andard, but whatever. When asked if they had at least rotated the tires, I was given a flat no, with no offer to get it in quickly and done, or explanation as to why they hadn't done it. So I made an appointment for 1230 Sunday didn't get out of there till 2:15 PM came in for two flat repairs they recommended rotation and balance the four tires were bought at that location the young kid working the tire machine wanted to put two weights on both sides of the rim. The service manager got involved and also doesn't know how to run the balancer machine. After leaving there one weigh blew off and I have a vibration so I will be taking my vehicle to another location to get them re-balanced at my expense thank you Pep Boys. Nick went above and beyond for us. My wife and I purchased a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder from Orr Nissan 2 months ago and a bearing went out in the AC fan. This is a known problem for Nissan. We took it to the dealership and they told us it wasn't covered under warranty and would take 3 hours of labor. When I asked them why it would take so long, they told me they would completely remove the radiator to be able to get to it. The cost of parts and labor quoted was $910.53. Then the parts guy said, "If you don't get it replaced, there's a good chance it'll ruin your radiator and you'll have to replace both." I felt like this was a way to manipulate me into rushing into the replacement. I talked to the Orr manager and he told me there was nothing he could do. I talked to Nick, the manager at PEP Boys on Walker, and he told me he could do it for about half that price. I told him I didn't want a Nissan part because this is a known design flaw. He got an entirely different part, replaced it in an hour, and charged me $401. Nick told me the book time to replace the part is 1.6 hours. Great Professional Customer Service!! Very disappointed with my visit. I have been a member of Pep Boys for years and a returning customer. I had scheduled a visit around lunch time for an appointment at 6pm. I got there at 5:30pm and told the employee that I had an appointment at 6pm but I am early. He found my appointment but then told me that they didn't have anyone. He offered to reschedule but I told him I can reschedule online and left. I was a little upset because I had scheduled an appointment, if something changed the store should have notified me that they did not have anyone and that we should reschedule. I would have been fine with that but instead I drove to this location, along with wasting time and money for no reason. read more

After reading the other reviews, I was skeptical about coming here. Seems they have become too busy to give great customer service. I must have gotten lucky. I showed up and there was only one other person there. I needed an alternator on my car and they fixed it fast. I took a long lunch and my cell phone rang before i was done. I am not sure if I just got lucky, came on the right day or what but I will definitely come back here based on this one experience. I have been using Pep Boys on I-240 and walker in South Okc for my last several oil changes. The primary reason was the low price and location. However, the customer service was pitiful having to wait between 1 hour as my shortest wait time and 1:45 as my longest. That was until today, I was giving them one last chance and if the service was as bad as it has been this would be my last visit. I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment and was greeted by the new manager of the service department. He explained that he had just taken over and they were short handed as he was working to fill his staff, and told me it might take a little longer than expected. I immediately thought it would take a few hours, but my car was ready in 35 minutes. Nick the new manager personally changed my oil and apologized for my wait. He had no idea that was the shortest wait I've ever experienced at Pep Boys. I was so impressed I will be going back to Pep Boys. One mechanic was still on his way was overheard. 2 1/2 hours later my car is just sitting in the parking lot waiting for an alignment. Always had good service and repairs. I had lost my checkbook after paying for auto service three days before, went ahead and canceled all my checks since I did not know what check numbers I had used. So I went down to Pep Boys and explained what happen and told them I could write another check, I was told no they would just wait and see if the check cleared in time, if it did not they would call me. Great, until a few days later the collection agency called and wanted payment. Oh, explained what happen and told them I would called them back. After calling Pep Boys and unloading on the Supervisor for 4 minutes of why this customer service person had gave me a load of sh _ t and he needed to be retrained on procedures. Had a appointment today 9/13/2016 to have alignment check @8am. waited til 8:17 when counter guy showed up. All for him to say I needed 2 front tires! seriously and gives my quote of $435.77...I replied are you not going to drive the vehicle ot have it check for alignment before suggested about my tires. Well customer service was HORRIBLE not a apologizes for being late at that. Didn't even offering coffee, water or where was the freaking lobby. I then ask for my estimate and walk out. I called my brother and he referred DISCOUNT TIRES. Sure enough the staff was awesome from the time I enter the door til they where done with my vehicle and didn't need alignment I did need 2 tires and had them put on and half of the price Pep Boys was charging . Came in because I found a "conventional oil change for $24.99" including a tire rotation. That is a great deal in or area, as my most recent oil changes have been $40+ and did not include tire rotation. We scheduled an appointment online AND arrived a full half hour early, and it was still an hour after our appointment time before they took the vehicle back. And it was another hour and a half before they were done. On top of all that, they didn't have a very friendly customer attitude.
