It's very homie, the rooms and building itself…read moreis full of history (1920' vintage German building) The rooms are super affordable, the two guys who run it are not only very friendly and professional but also quite handsome haha. The time when I stayed there I got breakfast made every morning and the guy who cleans the place is exceptional. It's very close to everything. The Gay area of Berlin is a block away, the buss stops to all the tourist attractions are two blocks away. You can literally walk down a block and run into great restaurants and bars. The are where this guest house is super safe. I walked around back from a club and women and children were walking the area late. That to me says safe. The building is to die for, incredible 1920 German building that survived the war. I'll post some pictures for you to see. The guests were very friendly and told me they researched guesthouses around here and this one was the very best in Price, location and cleanliness. I can go on and on since I've traveled through out London, Paris and last stop Berlin and this was by far the best place I have stayed in. Great to meet you Maik and Carsten.

Our first night, we saw some little bugs on the bedsheets, but didn't realize they were bed bugs…read more The next day we told the housekeeper about them, and she told us that she'll report it to the main office, but no further actions were taken by the office. The morning after that my wife and I woke up with dozens of bites and plenty of bugs in the bed. We were frustrated and disgusted! I had to iron all our clothing to get rid of them. We reported this to the main office ourselves, and they sent a taxi to transfer us to the main building. I talked to two supervisors- Maurice (Marian?) and Sasha (I may be misspelling the names). Maurice took me to a pharmacy to buy some anti-itching cream. I asked for a refund for the two days we'd stayed, and he told me that they'll definitely give us one. However, Sasha told me that according to their policy they can do only a 10% refund. A month has passed, and we still haven't received anything. Avoid this place and save your money.

The rooms are clearly pretty old, the furniture and the radio built into the bed make that pretty clear but it's clean and well taken care of, the old style of it was personally charming and combined with the relatively cheap prices was what convinced me to stay longer. The main downsides were the lack of AC and that the cold water wasn't regulated well and somehow ran low sometimes. The wifi could also be a little faster. Berlin was cool enough in the summer during my stay that leaving my window open at night was enough to keep the room nice but the first night when I kept the window closed I woke up sweating. If you are looking for a 5 star resort this probably isn't it but if you're looking for something well run, charming and cheap this is it.

A really unassuming building off one of the main roads in the Schoneberg district is this little…read moregem. It may look like a strange bedsit from the outside but inside is a wonderful clean mish-mash of old elaborate staircases and architecture. I loved this place which was really old fashioned without being grubby or faded. It had this ole style radio build into the headboard of the bed!! The Mrs and I enjoyed listening to German radio while drifting off to sleep. The room was quite big with high ceilings and had ample space for swinging cats. I do remember the doors were a bit tricky to master. There was this trick with swobs and pushing buttons, waiting for lights to come on then twisting. So be prepared for a challenge and leave plenty of time to figure out how to get into your room!! There's a little bar just past the main reception area which was cute and open until 10pm I think. The staff were polite and the breakfast looked Ok, but to be honest the area is perfect for breakfast with a wonderful bakery right next door you'll find it hard to resist.
