The worker at the counter was super sweet with our transaction :) The museum is interactive while teaching you the history of the town and how the people contributed. If you're ever near by and want to have a museum experience, you should definitely stop in! They also do walking tours for those who want to explore even more.

At the time, I stepped in to visit the gift shop and they were closing in a half hour. They said your welcome to check out the museum for free. I was so happy to hear that. At this time, the museum usually costs $7. On Main Street, you will see this historical museum right beside the train tracks. It was a train depot back in the day. They have a nice collection of artifacts dating to back in the day in Dunedin Dunedin. I love that they have some interactive displays. They also house the only full collection of the Dunedin Times from 1924 to '66. Besides visiting the historical museum and learning about back in the day in the area, the website has archives from the Dunedin Times. Definitely check that out. Today Dunedin is the cutest little town bustling with a hallmark charm. Lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and the Pinellas Trail goes right through it. It also has a great water view and is dog friendly. It's definitely a great place to visit! Dunedin Historical Museum gives you a great idea of what it was like before and how it has progressed through the years!

The museum has a vast assortment of weapons, uniforms, news paper articles, and collections donated by locals who served. The best part about this experience is that my dad was telling me things he remembered after seeing various items throughout the museum. The museum is a lot bigger than it looks outside. They have 2 life sized plastic horses on display, a motorcycle, an electric chair, and various other items. Ok the second best part was my dad speaking with the volunteers who also served. He told them he'd be willing to donate some of his things from his military career and making copies of photos for them. They gave him a card and we discovered that one of the volunteers had the same job as my dad a few years earlier. Who knows the next time I visit I may see some of my dad's stuff.

The house was given to the Clearwater Historical Society and moved from downtown Clearwater to its current location within the Ed C. Wright Park. It is in a beautiful setting near a lake. You can walk, bicycle or have a picnic in the park by the lake. The house itself is a farmhouse style and it looks as though nothing has been updated for over 100 years. This is not a grand mansion but rather a simple house that is typical of that era. The house is filled with old pictures and antiques, many with a connection to Clearwater. I found a picture of me in one of their yearbooks. Guess I'm an antique now. Admission is free and they don't publish their hours so call first.

After cocktails, we went upstairs to a ballroom area and had dinner and drinks, listened to award presentations, and then had a live band with karaoke. The catering staff was great, although the fish entree was cold and not very flavorful (not the fault of the aquarium IMO). Literally no fish whatsoever. You walk around the tank as you walk around the aquarium there are window all the way around, but again, the tank was completely empty. There were other areas of the aquarium that were under construction due to either renovations or expansion. Due to this there were multiple enclosures that had no fish are animals to view. It's a little disappointing when you are traveling for vacation and the aquarium was the place that your daughter was looking forward to the most. All this while still charging full price for admission. All that being said, they have a very friendly and informed staff and volunteers that clearly do a lot for the marine life. It is very commendable the way they are nursing injured marine life back to health. Definitely more of a rescue center than an aquarium.
