I was stunned. I checked Craig's List as a last resort and happened on Simon & Son Lawn Care. After looking at our yard they told me their minimum fee was $25, which was a whole lot more tolerable. I hired them immediately. Simon & Son has already finished our Spring clean up and I just called them to start mowing for the Spring/Summer season. They did an excellent job. They were careful of all my plants, yet they got all the leaves from under our deck in the backyard. They picked up all the sticks and branches that had fallen over the winter and got all the leaves from under the pine trees near the road. There are bigger lawn companies in Kalamazoo, but they charge almost twice as much to do the exact same job and they pressured me to fertilize, seed and water before I had even hired them. We are very happy to have a small, locally owned, and efficient company taking care of our lawn again.

The pictures do not do it justice to the amount of labor- all done by hand- that was required to fix the boulder wall. There was a LOT of perennials and hydrangeas to work around as well as a tree and shed. They did an amazing job with very little damage to the plants. I spoke to my local company that recommended John for landscaping (because they asked how he did). Once I told them about the issue, they took his business card and threw it away and stated thats not the first time they have heard this. Then I was in Mattawan Landscape supply looking at their hardscape options. When I was talking to the owner he pointed over to a contractor that he says does great hardscape work. He pointed to John. I informed him that John has not returned any of my calls, even to just say the project is too big for him or he does not have time. He never answers his phone either so you are always leaving a message. I am very reasonable about timing. I can have someone start tomorrow or a few months from now. I know these guys are busy. To completely ignore a potential customer shows lack of professionalism through my eyes and brings great concern to the actual project if he struggles to communicate on the front side.
