First time here after moving to the area. Wasn't totally sure what to expect. It certainly isn't…read morethe biggest farmer's market but it has a lot of good stuff. I was worried at first as I saw mostly vegetables, which wasn't what I was there for. But when you move to the other side there are a lot of local businesses selling their goods and I ended up buying a few things I never would have anticipated (dips, sauces, etc.). Parking is super convenient (and free, which is interesting with the fair going on parking in the same lot and paying for it). The vibe seems super local. At multiple points people told me the stall I was at was great, had great stuff, etc. And also at multiple points other patrons interacted with the vendors like friends. You can tell that these people go here weekly and support these small businesses/vice-versa, which is really nice to see.

On Thursday mornings between 9AM and 1PM at the OC Fairgrounds there is a farmers market..... if I…read moreremember correctly it is in parking lot D and I entered through Gate 3 from Fairview - just keep an eye out for the vendor tents along the west side of the amphitheater. The tents were arranged in a rectangle with the Douceurs de Paris coffee truck in the middle sort of like wagons around a campfire. There were a number of produce stands, prepared food stands, and condiment stands. There wasn't much in terms of food vendors selling something you could eat right there nor were there any real accommodations for anyone wanting to sit down and eat other than the few chairs and tables at the coffee truck. At the time I entered the market area there was a long line at the La Bahn Ranch stand - people waiting their turn to buy eggs. I ended up buying some persimmons from the Kandarian Brothers (surname - and not related to evil dead) stand after they gave me samples of their delicious ripe persimmon pieces. I didn't stick around too long though as it was a rather hot day and the setup was not conducive to just chilling and hanging out - it's just a parking lot after all.

The quality of the food was great and I appreciate how clean the ingredients were. With that it also made the food almost dry. Seemed like they only had one server and she was so sweet when she helped us but we didn't see her often. It was a quiet and calm in there.

You routinely find tables covered in at least one previous customers mess. The non-waiters ALWAYS attempt to place your table mat on top of the previous patrons toxic spill. Getting anyone to ask you if you want anything is a miracle. The food takes forever to be brought out, not made, but brought out. How can one tell? Because its so often cold. Beautifully made, but cold. If a Health Inspector attempted to eat lunch here, they'd be cited and possibly shut down until they could prove they have a staff trained to keep the place clean. CORPORATE: You need to GUT the staff. Hire people with experience serving people. People who know how to hustle for a tip. We will reward them well. The mystery of how so many Mother's have closed has been solved. Seal Beach, Manhattan Beach, it all makes sense now. Your competitors have moved in with SERVICE. Stop hiring entitled rich kids. A players hire A players. B players hire D players. Which are you?

So for those who love eating a lot of greens and variety, I definitely recommend it. It's also a good store when you just need to pick up small items like milk, eggs, or vegetables. Their fruits and vegetables are cheaper than Trader Joe's. They also often carry halal organ meats like liver and chicken hearts. Some items can be a bit overpriced, but the fruits and vegetables are definitely worth buying - they taste like they're straight from the garden. The downside is that you should be careful while choosing berries - sometimes there can be mold (though this can happen in any store). And that there's a credit card processing fee. However, despite a few drawbacks, I'm giving it 5 stars because their business is really valuable, and I wish them continued success and prosperity. I definitely recommend stopping by - there are always many interesting and tasty things to find at affordable prices. The cashiers are also very kind and friendly, thanks for the service!
