You want to spend thousands of dollars and have your dog die in the end? This is the place for you…read more You will bring your 19 month old puppy to the internal medicine department with chronic diarrhea and vomiting because her normal vet referred her to a specialist. The specialist will say "Change her diet" even though you will have told him that you've already done that multiple times. You'll follow his instructions and see no changes in your dog. She begins to lose weight even though she is eating. You will go back, your dog will still have diarrhea and vomiting, and he'll suggest doing an ultrasound. You get the ultrasound done, and he'll say he's found "abnormalities" and then suggest "changing her diet" instead of trying to treat the abnormalities, and if we really want to find out wrong, she'll need an endoscopy procedure. So, you'll change her diet again, see no changes other than increasingly concerning weight loss, and spend multiple thousands of dollars for the specialist to perform the procedure. Your dog will be under anesthesia for several hours while he obtains 20-30 biopsy samples. The results come back a week later and the specialist will point out further abnormalities and stomach ulcers, and suggest you "change her diet" instead of treating the problems. Three months will go by and your once vibrant, healthy 50 pound dog will now be a walking skeleton, losing roughly 20-25 lbs. You've done everything in your power to save her life. She will stop eating and drinking water altogether for 4 straight days and become unresponsive at times, spending her days laying helplessly on a bed, with no energy do move at all. Her body temperature will noticeably drop, even though the room is at 75* and she's under a blanket. She will struggle to climb stairs or hop down from the couch, when she does decide to move. You see her suffering and on CHRISTMAS MORNING you will make the painful decision to end that suffering. You will bring her to MedVet, where she has already been seen for 3 months, including an ER visit, where they suggested hospitalization and an estimate for services which she has already recently had done, instead of an IV or any real treatment, and the vet tech will come in with a cone, because she is scared a dog with no energy will bite her. That vet tech will then, with all the compassion and empathy in the world, pull your dog by her neck, trying to drag her to the back, so, apparently, the doctor can look at her. 10-15 minutes will go by and nothing will be discussed with you as to what's going on. Then, the American Hero, who was an Army vet will come into the room and tell you you have have beautiful Belgian Malinois and say that she used to treat them while she was in the Army, and even though yours is severely emaciated, and has IBD, she will not euthanize her. If we want, however, we can surrender her. No one will ask why you are there with your beloved family member on Christmas morning, trying to end her suffering. They will just assume you are a piece of garbage who does not want to take care of a sick dog. You will leave and endure watching your dog suffer another two days before her normal vet clinic reopens. So, after nearly $7000 of credit card debt from procedures performed by the specialist, and visits to the ER and clinic, and prescription medications with very little instructions, in order to try and save my dog's life, all I have to show from it is a lifetime of pain, many years of payments, and a little cedar box that contains the ashes of my beloved dog. This place does not care about you, or your dog. They care about your wallet, and trying to obtain every dollar that's in it, at all cost. I love you, Coraline, and I'm sorry I took you here.

She had been living in a neighbor's garage and was in rough shape - malnourished, fleas, worms and ear mites. This was the only vet that could see us immediately and I'm so glad we ended up here. They are tremendously kind and compassionate. When the kitten escaped and climbed up inside the car seat (a long story) they came out to help get her out. Loaned us a carrier. Really just have consistently gone above and beyond. We have been clients ever since and would not consider taking our fur babies anywhere else. This visit was for our older cat who had a cut above her eye. Doc had her diagnosed in less than 5 minutes (ear infection and she scratched herself trying to make it feel better) noticed she also had some gum issues, got us all set up with antibiotics and ear drops and we were finished in under half an hour. Perfect when you have to fit a vet visit into your lunch hour. The place is super clean and we've never felt overcharged. Bottom line, if you're looking for a vet that really cares this is where you want to go.

I was devastated and terrified that I was going to lose him. In desperation, I found Anicira and called--completely in tears. From that very first phone call, the staff was incredibly compassionate, patient, and understanding. They listened, reassured me, and immediately eased my fears. Most importantly, they were able to perform the surgery for significantly less, making it possible to save my baby. When I dropped him off, they carefully walked me through the entire procedure and explained exactly what to expect during recovery. After the surgery was successful, they once again took the time to go over every detail of his aftercare so I felt confident bringing him home. At every single step, the staff was kind, professional, and genuinely caring. Without Anicira, I truly believe I would have lost my baby. I am forever grateful for their compassion, expertise, and commitment to helping pets and their families when they need it most.

I called in and they were able to see me just TWO (2) hours later. This was perfect as I knew it would take about that time to get the cat from under the bed and into her bag. :-D Parking was not ideal, but it was also at 12pm, if you park closer to the wing place, there is a set of stairs up from that lot so that you don't need to take your chances with climbing up the little, but steep hill. When I arrived there was nobody else in the very clean waiting room and staff immediately greeted me and checked me in. My fur baby was brought back to be looked at and within a few minutes she was diagnosed and I was provided with an estimate. The staff began work, providing regular updates, getting authorization to put her under and minimize pain, etc. It was clear that they were focused on her. While I hope that I never *have* to see Dr. Mushtaq, Henry, and the staff again, I would definitely come back when the need presents and enthusiastically recommend this practice to others. Thank you for taking care of my cat and me!

During yearly checkups they take the time to answer all of your questions and educate you about any issues your pet might be having health wise. If your pet is sick they will call you at home later on to check and see how the animal is doing. When our 15 year old Siamese developed a thyroid tumor and could not tolerate the medication used to treat the condition, Dr. Ihrig researched the other options and costs and got back to us the next day. We opted for radiation treatment at a clinic in Gaithersburg that Dr. Ihrig found and we are happy to say our cat is still going strong at 17! Another time, I was taking care of a diabetic cat for a neighbor and Dr. Bostrom took the time, possibly out of her lunch hour, to teach me how to administer the insulin treatments with a syringe, which I had never done before and was pretty anxious about. She had me practice until I felt comfortable, but just in case I ran into any problems she even gave her cell phone number. Luckily her tutelage was so good I didn't need to call her, but I really appreciated the gesture. We are getting older and sometimes we think about leaving the area for the coast. Our animals are very important to us though, and relationships, such as the one we have with Drs. Ihrig and Bostrom, are what help to hold us here. I'm sure there are many other good doctors out there, but we wouldn't want to take Digger and Bandit any place else.
