Bogus tent violation removed from staff tent onto my tent

Pickaton 2023 Trip Day 1 Thursday August 3rd Music was good. An eclectic mix that I was pleasantly surprised by. I didn't know any of the artist but they all were fun to listen to. Really enjoyed the high energy of Po Ramblin Boys. Jackie Venson was a joy to see. And Yot Club was an unexpectedly talented and fun artist. I was super excited to see the decor and art at Pickaton from the hype on Instagram but coming from a similar size festival Northern Nights Music Festival, Pickaton decor was pretty disappointing. The NNMF Grove stage was beautiful with relatively simple design and artistic flare. The Pickaton Grove Stage, there's some ropes suspension, but it didn't seem like there was enough substance to really transform the space. Some of it like the Windmill stage looks like they just used random shit they found. Maybe it's a recycle theme? Cherry stage wood backgroud was probably my favorite so far. IDK it did not live up to the hype. Had a horrible experience with a "staff" camp that was super hostile. They lied about their staff campsite because other staff camps were clearly marked and this one wasn't. And on duty staffer confirmed that if unmarked, all sites were free for all. They went through my stuff when I was gone, and posted a bogus tent violation tag that was dated in July. It's August 3rd right now. They complained about my privacy tent that I had a camp toilet. Say it was prohibited, but it's not listed on the Pickaton website. They did have a canopy, which actually is listed as prohibited. They even got the "founder of pickaton" on the phone to tell me off. I was a solo female surrounded by at least 5 men. If this is Pickaton staff and policy, they are pretty terrible, and it is unacceptable to intimidate, harass, and bully an Asian 5'3, 110lb woman. I imagine if I was white, they probably wouldn't have as much hate. I cried alot from frustration and general sadness about the lack of kindness at Pickaton . They eventually said I could stay at the site. But I moved as I did not feel safe there with people who are disgusting with their lies and going through my things. Totally ruined the rest of my day and night. Ruin my idea of Pickaton being an inclusive environment for music lovers. Honestly if I didnt spend over $700 for the 4 day pass and curation dinner I would have left. Be warned this organization does not actually care about the people and experience as clearly represented by its staff. Don't waste your money. There's also a very large gap in diversity. Which may be reflective of the culture of Pickaton. Nearly all of the staff and attendees were white. Overall, there was a lot of disorganization. I arrived early and got to see things unravel. Staff started checking people in without being trained on how to do it. Staff confusion on the gear drop even existing and then where or when it would actually start. I had to move all my things myself since things weren't actually running as advertised. Sadly, the few hours of music I saw were fun, but the horrible camping experience completely destroyed any positive experience. It does appear that these horrible camp bullies are staff, which only mares Pickaton further. Super sad and disappointing experience thus far. Aside from the camping experience, the festival operations were amature and disorganized.. First time and last time at Pickaton, but it almost felt like this was their first rodeo too. I had a lot of high hopes for Pickaton and was horribly disturbed, disgusted, and deeply sadden about my experience. Update: today is Saturday August 5th and the site that I was forced out of is sitting there empty. Canopy in the staff camp is still up. And no response from Pickathon about the camping incident.

Wanted to like this place cause we can really use another nicer restaurant in Happy Valley. Sadly,…read morethis ain't it. Came here for dinner with wife and toddler. After getting sat down, we just... waited. For about 10-15 minutes, nobody showed up. Eventually a server came and took our order in a very disinterested fashion. We ordered a cocktail, the bruschetta appetizer, and then a burger, the king salmon and a plate of chicken pasta in white sauce for the little one. Everything took forever to come out (even the drink), nobody came out to check or refill waters in the 90 minutes we were there. Cocktail (Spring Break) - 5/5 great! Bruschetta - 3/5. Generally good but the bread was carbonized and as hard as a rock. Burger + fries - 3/5. Burger looked sad but was actually pretty tasty, if a little overcooked. Fries looked great (hand cut) but upon us closer inspection in the low light, you could see they were 50% those tiny peel pieces that get burned when frying. Guys! You are supposed to take those pieces out! Salmon - 3/5. Kind of... fine. A little fishy, not really what i expect for King salmon. Chicken pasta for toddler - 4/5. Actually this was delicious (if a bit overcooked) and it will my leftover lunch (toddler didn't eat it but that isn't the pasta's fault). Total bill for everyone, with tip: $126 So pretty mediocre food, downright bad service, and premium pricing. It's a pass from me!

Baffled sometimes when people say theatre is expensive to watch. We have so many great places to…read moresee plays for many different budgets, and Portland Center Stage hits the mark on it. They have a number of programs, like $25 tickets, Rush/Standby Tickets, Arts for All, Pay What You Will days. All very affordable! And for the quality of the shows here, it's absolutely worth it to go see at least one show a season. The stage crew and actors put on great shows! Every staff member I've encountered there have been friendly, patient and accommodating. I've done the Standby tickets for a few shows now and it's a great experience. Put your name on the wait-list about 90 minutes before showtime, go grab a bite to eat, and if you get a seat, that's great! If not, they can put you on the wait list for the next show (and then you can go do another activity downtown). They keep the place pretty clean too, really nice bathrooms haha.

I need to do an update as I have become a lot more attending of the performances here. The reason…read morefor this is accessibility. As someone with limited mobility often - I have a tissue disorder and some days I am far more mobile than others. I am also, due to the tissue disorder, more modest means. Thankfully Portland Center Stage is a proud Arts for All member. In addition - they really do welcome people. They have a lot of seating for ADA and accommodate you should you need chair arms or no arms or will have a spot cleared for your wheelchair. I appreciate tickets being low cost for me but with ADA it can be tricky and the events at the most challenging ADA locations expect you to show up right before a show hoping they will have an extra ticket which I cannot physically do and would not want that on ushers either. When inquiring, I have been treated with less than stellar attitude. I would love to have money and mobility and I used to! I know so many who are starting to struggle with mobility as they age and I really encourage them to go to spaces like this where they can easily get in and out. But even just calling - they actually answer the phone and are so helpful! I get that they want to sell as much at full price but it makes me really appreciate how truly welcoming Portland Center Stage is. Arts are healing and the productions here really are top notch. Their staff is very diverse throughout the theater making it feel like a safe space for everyone also. When seeing shows here, they do have a great concessions stand/bar with a great wine selection and some decent snacks. The theater is in such a great location - to the back of the theater is a favorite gelato place of mine and also some of the most delicious West African food if you want to make a whole night of it!

They were absolutely fantastic; we had seen their R&B songs before online, and they were great. But when they arrived for the party it was clear that they had added new members, especially in their horn section. Wow! All of their songs just popped. Even though it was a 100 degree day, the outside dance floor (under a tent, luckily) was packed for all of their songs. My mom and my new in-laws, all in their 70's or 80's, were dancing along with everyone. Absolutely the best live R&B we've heard. McMenamin's has a Good Neighbor policy that limits noise past 10pm; the Kats were understanding about this but they were genuinely having a great time - and so were we - and were disappointed they couldn't keep playing so we could keep dancing. Several of our guests were so impressed that they are planning to (or already have) booked the Kats for upcoming parties. Dan, our contact (and the drummer), was a pleasure to work with. He returned messages within a day at the latest, was really accommodating and helpful. This band is a terrific choice for any of your events where you want guests to smile, tap their feet, cheer, and dance! We had a wonderful time, and you will too. Thanks Kats for making our wedding reception amazing!

From many email convos over the 12 months from when we booked them to when the actual wedding event was he was always quick to respond. Especially when about 2-3 days before the wedding I decided to change the song our pianist was going to play for the wedding procession. And when I asked for what I thought was maybe a little out there he always responded with a casual response in that they were happy to try to make it happen....and they did! On the day of they were amazing and a major talking point at the morning after brunch. We had a small but rowdy group and Hans and the Wanted just went with the energy we were putting out. I am so happy we stumbled across this band. The entertainment for our wedding was one of the most important things for us and WOW did they deliver. I would recommend Hans and the Wanted to anyone looking to have great, fun, professional musicians at their event. We love you!
