Every year the Taos Open Tournament keeps getting better and better; it's well organized, brings a great level of play, and has a generous party and trophies. The accommodations are getting better and better every year, the Golden Pinon restaurant on the property is delicious and busy with locals. Playing at altitude is always a great challenge and the "high altitude" balls sold in the pro-shop are a necessity. Can't thank Kurt or his staff enough for all the fun days spend at the Quail. As a friend said, "this is summer camp for adults!" I am not planning on growing out of summer camp style anytime soon. Cheers.

Kurt is the head pro and owner of this facility who can also rent you a courtside condo. We were visiting Taos to see the tourist sites, but were pleasantly surprised to be able to get in some enjoyable tennis. We would like to go back for a week-long tennis vacation.

Decent basketball court. Nice area for a soccer or wiffleball game. A xeriscape demonstration area. You'll see a lot of people walking their dogs - pretty much always. They aren't supposed to be off-leash, but you will generally see a few that are - and their owners are generally on top of them. Not a grim amount of dog "dirt" left behind - lots of bags and receptacles provided, and they're generally used. You'll see lot of tennis and pickleball. Sometimes there are swarms of kids; sometimes just a few; sometimes none. The park is pretty and is well maintained by CABQ. If you're looking for a calm place to have a coffee or a picnic lunch, give it consideration.

The McDermott Athletic Center offers what appears to be a regulation-sized rink, well maintained, with bench risers for spectators and heart-slobbery pop rock (think Gin Blossoms) on the speakers for teens who really don't have much to do in Rio Rancho besides flirt on ice. It's sweet, it really is, and such a law-abiding way to pass the time. My daughter also learned how to skate on this ice, she's eight, and I had a good time, even if I didn't represent my tribe very well. Obviously, this Center staffs a team of skate instructors and hosts team play on the regular. We visited for a birthday party, checking on pricing, a group of up to 10 kids, rentals, pizza and soda included appears to be a great deal. Moreover, the facility has a sizable weight room, good batting cages, a basketball court and gymnasium, and... wait for it... ZUMBA. That's right, you're going.

MY GRANDDAUGTERS are now members and that should tell you we are loyal to this club.
