Stayed here for one night at Oxford. I have to say, the building is absolutely stunning and gorgeous, but so are many of the other colleges here at Oxford. During the summer, when there are no students, many colleges will treat the dorms like motels and rent them out to tourists and visitors. I made my booking 3 months in advance from the comfort of my home in the States.
The staff was so nice and welcoming, and they were quick to look up my booking and give me my keycard in an envelope, along with directions of finding my dorm room. I have to admit, even with instructions, I was a little lost with finding my building. It was all the way in the back corner of the college, and I was a bit disappointed to find that it was a boring, square building, unlike the rest of the college, which has such beautiful architecture.
When I found my room, I was pleased that it was rather spacious, complete with my private sink and mirror. The bathrooms here are communal, but one of their toilets was gross and clogged up, and I had to report it to the front desk. Thankfully, they were quick to fix it.
Showers are also communal, and I showered as quickly as I could and tried to not look at the vents, which were gross and moldy and creepy to look at.
I have to say, although the staff was very friendly, and it was at least a decent place to sleep, I'm glad I was only here for one night. read more
