Dump! Staff never at the desk. Room was dirty. Breakfast absolutely deplorable. Stale bread products and nasty coffee.

Booked a King Jacuzzi room. When we arrived, we notice the breakfast area had signs indicating that pancake machine was broken and there was only decaf coffee. The room was very cold when we arrived, so we set our suitcase down and turned up the thermostat and left to go explore the area and have dinner. When we returned a few hours later the room was warm, but it was also full of ANTS! Not just a few ants, but an ant infestation. They were all over the bathroom floor and the jacuzzi area. We also found them on the bed and on our suitcase! The water was also brownish, smelled terrible and there was no way you could take a bath with it. We went to the front desk to inform them we would not be staying and requested a refund. The young lady working was very apologetic and called a manager, but she was informed we could only move rooms, and a refund was not an option. There was no way we were going to stay in this ant infested hotel. We left and drove home. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!! read more

We stayed here for two nights with our snowmobile group. They called to inform us that there wasn't any snow but we didn't care. We were going anyways. It worked out well for us. The place is a somewhat rustic decor. It's not a 5 star motel and the price reflects that. It's clean, and the beds are comfortable. There is a microwave, coffee pot and refrigerator in every room. In the lobby there are tables to play games and relax. There is comfortable couch and chairs seating to hang out. We used a room for a pizza party and group activities. The room comes with a breakfast in the morning. The staff was amazingly helpful and friendly throughout our time there. There is a pool and a hot tub. We hope to return for another fun time. read more

I had reservations the weekend of the worldwide computer outage in July. I was at the Atlanta airport and it was chaotic and our reservations were canceled on Delta to Pellston from Detroit. I called the hotel and canceled the reservation but they would not refund, even though this was a very serious WORLDWIDE outage. Absolutely would not. We slept on the floor in Detroit. I think they should have done so. This was completely out of my control. Some compassion should have been extended to us. Beware. I would never recommend this hotel. July 22. We had a pleasant experience at the Pellston Lodge! The room was clean as well as the bathroom. The Lodge is very cozy and welcoming. Staff was helpful and kind. We enjoyed the breakfast bar too which served pancakes with butter & syrup, sausage , biscuits and gravy, an assortment of cold cereal, hot cereal packets, watermelon, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, muffins, bagels with cream cheese or peanut butter and very good coffee! The pool looked clean and inviting although time did not allow us to swim, and they even have a coin-operated laundry room. We definitely recommend the Pellston Lodge! read more

Please don't do it. You're better off staying at DTW for the night if you're coming in after 3 PM when the shuttle service is closed. There are no Uber's or Lyfts to take you to mackinaw city. Whatever you do plan accordingly so that you do not have to stay here. There's only two stories and there are NO elevators. The carpet, bedding and bathroom is disgusting. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a few bed bugs. You'll wake up to the smell of boiled eggs which they serve for breakfast. The closest restaurant is Hoppies which is located upstairs from PLN airport. The food their is actually decent and the staff is nice there but please avoid this place at all cost. read more

I and my wife had to stay several days due to location while I made arrangements for my daughter that passed away Friday December 27th. Room was adequate and clean. I had to have the maintenance guy disconnect the bathroom exhaust fan because the noise would wake the neighbors. Breakfast was very poor. No meat except the first morning. French toast that was so tough you could barely cut it with the plastic knife. So wife tried a bowl of cereal and the milk was sour. Krista at the counter was sour and snotty. She knew my daughter had just died and she was plain rude. I don't recommend this place if you have another option. I. Wish to add that other than the one girl every other staff member have been pleasant and as accommodating as possible. The GM, Mary, was especially helpful this morning with the body donor information from the University of Michigan. We were disappointed that the hot tub was inoperative at this time. read more

While I'm not the type to be brutal, I have to say that this place leaves a lot to be desired. Living in the past, the Pellston Lodge is absolutely devoid of any modern standards; the wallpaper is tearing, their towels are inadequate, the air conditioners are either too hot or too cold, and the upper floor carpet looks so dirty that you'd think it's a horror movie. The overall standard experience, even IF without hiccups, is painfully inadequate--and likely caused by a lack of competition. Discussing the staff, they felt cold and closed off, doing the bare minimum without a shred of hospitality. In our case, we were lied to about transportation and practically trapped here without a rental car. They lied to us about an 8/11 am shuttle; we saw nothing of the sort at said times. If you want my advice, just stay in Detroit or otherwise, and drive up here if you want to make it to Mackinac Island. This place will tear your plans to the ground just as the quality of this place continues to decline. read more

BEDBUGS!! No excuse. This hotel hasn't encased their mattresses in bug blockers, which is pretty much the universally accepted standard these days. I stayed here on Sunday evening, December 8, 2019. When I visited the front desk with photos taken just then, they acknowledged it was a bedbug, and handed me keys to another room 40 feet down the hallway, which probably had no impact on the likelihood of being free of the pests there. Normally, I would have packed up, found a room elsewhere, and left after making sure I wasn't charged for my stay. As it was, this was 10pm, it is a very rural area with nothing close by, no vehicle at my disposal and a 6am flight out in the morning from the airport across the street. I didn't turn off the lights or sleep that night...I personally know many business colleagues who have returned from trips with dozens of big, red, raised welts from bedbug bites at hotels that don't have stringent pest prevention programs in place. read more

Staff like robots, no one smiles, no one says hello unless you say hello first. They did not know ( did not care?) that the Mackinaw shuttle which they recommended me to call 8 am next day, only runs twice in the morning 8 am, then 11 am. She said " just call them at 8 tomorrow". So, I missed that and wasted time. There are no rideshares , taxis are booked in advance(!), stuck in this ugly lodge. Thankfully no bedbugs in my room, as they say ignorance is bliss. Breakfast is subpar, tasteless bagels, how did they do that?(!), tasteless boiled eggs. Don't stay here! read more

This motel is staffed with friendly folks, but leaves some to be desired. They sent a van to the airport to pick us up (don't expect an Uber in Pellston!), and the clerk on-duty was super sweet and helpful. Our non-smoking room smelled like old cigarettes, though, and the entire room (carpet, bathroom towels) felt damp (from humidity?). The toilet looked like it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. Breakfast was standard fair--only hard-boiled eggs for those looking for a bit of protein, but the biscuits and gravy got good reviews. read more

I have all my paperwork regarding my service dog but they refused to look at it or accept it. They charged me for a $50 fee for dog to do extra cleaning. What a joke the room they gave us had stains all over the carpet. Didn't look like it was cleaned ever. Bathroom looked filthy. Ice machine did not work. I will never go back. Looks nice from the outside but the rooms are nasty. We found dead bugs and trash behind the bedside tables, carpet has stains and gunk stuck on it, bathrooms are moldy, very dusty room, smells like smoke, sheets are very yellow with stains on them. We would have stayed somewhere else but we came in late and we're very tired. Had backache next day bed is very lumpy with metal springs stuck in your back. Breakfast was mediocre but no fruits, not even a banana was included! Run from here! Nasty place! read more

I got in late and exhausted. I appreciated the desk clerk suggested a room on the first floor and nearer the lobby. The decor would be a hunter's dream with deer and wild turkey wall borders and paintings. The lodge is older but the room and bathroom were clean and maid service was prompt. Shower pressure was excellent and drained well. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was also was a nice flatscreen tv, microwave, and fridge. I was there for a wedding so skipped the pool and hot tub but others said they enjoyed it while socializing at the free breakfast. Bonus? I pulled into the Pellston Airport, Michigan at 11: 59 pm with fourteen others, most from other countries including Jamaica, and Australia plus from distance states in the USA, like Colorado, Vermont, Massachusetts, New York and Florida. We were all headed to Mackinac Island, MI for work, conferences or simple touring visits. There were musicians, dancers, cooks, wait staff, and others among us ready for the Island's hosptiality. From this destination at the Pellston, MI Airport, we still had ahead of us a shuttle, a boat ride, a horse and buggy drawn taxi and a walk to get to our ultimate destinations. Upper lower Michigan is where I grew up and the friendly, hospitality was just as I remembered. There was only one person on the reception desk and she also drove the airport pick up van that accommodated three passengers at a time. Patiently she carted us back to the Lodge which fortunately is only 1/2 mile from the airport. She called the hotel manager to come in and help her get us all into our rooms. Together, one by one, they got us all into our rooms and our beds for the night. The rooms are refurbished, updated, clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was great. At 9:30 am we were all off on Mackinac Shuttle to the boat lines Shepler's or Starline that took us to Mackinac Island where we disbursed our separate ways. But a little taste of Michigan hospitality warmed our hearts, thanks to the competent, friendly, gracious and patient staff at the Pellston Lodge. read more

Recently stayed 1 night! The Bad. Room very outdated, stains all over carpeting, room smelled like smoke, remote control didn't work, water smelled so bad we chose not to shower, stained toilet, Would not recommend this hotel! The Good. Friendly front staff, let us check in a little early. (The reason it gets 2 stars instead of 1) Price $150, way to much for the quality of hotel, I recommend driving to Petoskey nicer and more affordable rooms. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. When we checked in, they had to go around checking if rooms were clean, the first one wasn't, the second one was, but had not toilet paper or tissue (after we got in we noticed, they didn't). The bathroom was pretty clean, but they gave us a handicap room with a shower head that is removable & moves up an down & it wouldn't stay high enough to just take a normal shower, so I had to duck down super low to rinse my hair. They do not have bedspreads, which could be good or bad, just a sheet and blanket. Super hard, cheap bed & tube TV with no remote. The heat just blasts on high or low, no temperature control, so I woke up sweating in the middle of the night. The "exercise room" is three cardio machines facing a wall (even though theres a window) in a super hot small room. Didn't dare go in the pool. We were one of three rooms in the hotel and our room was never cleaned in three days. I even asked the manager for housekeeping to come clean when we left one afternoon & she was very apologetic that no one came the day before, but came back 3 hours later to the housekeeper sitting in the lobby watching TV & our room not even touched. The staff parks their cars under the awning in the front of the hotel, blocking the whole area, so if you want to check in & weather is bad, too bad for you! The staff also smokes right outside the front door (pretty much every 20 mins or so), strangely uncomfortable to walk by on your way in. Continental breakfast is cereal, coffee, mini-bagels & mini-muffins. Ok for free breakfast. Needless to say, never coming back. read more

TERRIBLE! First off, the location; you are close to the airport but there is NOTHING nearby. Nowhere to eat or even buy something, other than the lobby which has shelves full of nasty junk food. Secondly, the staff are RUDE, really don't care about anything remotely resembling "customer service". Specifically I want to call-out "ANDREA" who pitched a yelling fit when I asked if she would print out a document for me, I even offered to pay her if I could get a receipt, she went into a long speech about how that sort of thing "is not included". But not just Andrea, everybody at Pellston Lodge seems to have the attitude that it is unfair for them to be at work, and everyone and everything that comes up is some injustice being perpetrated upon them. Thirdly, the clientele at this place are folks who run their snowmobiles right outside your window revving the engine, party all night, pounding on doors, etc. If you're into that, fine but the hotel shouldn't allow it because not everyone is an inconsiderate fool out to get drunk and make noise, okay? Finally, the water at this place smells like sewage, very hard to motivate getting into the shower for a few minutes to wash-up. So imagine even thinking of soaking in a jacuzzi? Trust me DO NOT pay for the jacuzzi room. I filled the tub and the stench was incredible. Then I turned on the jacuzzi jets and TONS of black flakes shot into the water, see photos. No elevator! Had small kids with us and going up and down the stairs was really annoying. Room was okay and shower didn't have great pressure. Bed was comfy and we stayed two nights for under $150. The breakfast was adequate and there was a nice pool and hot tub. Kids enjoyed sliding from hot tub into the pool. read more

The desk lady Alisha is the rudest most disrespectful person I've ever met. The site says they they have an elevator. They don't ! I'm handicap and they refused to accommodate me , which is illegal. Also I didn't end up staying because I couldn't climb 2 flights of stairs . She tried to shame me , by saying it's not a big hotel and the stairs arnt that bad. I walk with a cane ! I told her I'd like to cancel and go to another hotel. She told me they will still charge me . They did infact charge me ! I had to drive 40 minutes to Mackinaw to get a diffrent hotel and paid double the amount ! She refused to give me a receipt . I will never use this hotel again. This place was not what I had expected. We had a suite. The first thing we noticed was all the hard water stains in the tub and sinks, the shower curtain had hard waters stains as well. The water smelled terrible, there was very small packets of shampoo/conditioner that would not even lather up one head. The TVs were very small, the pull out couch had such a thin mattress on it you could feel the metal bars, the free breakfast was a joke, I realize with Covid things have changed with taking your order down to the front desk but the options were not much. The swimming area was not the worst but there was toys left in there that could have had germs on them. The chlorine was very strong,my grandson got a pretty bad rash from it. read more

The room smelled like old wetness. You know, if you leave towels in the washer too long before drying them. Like mold. The furniture was held together with L brackets and barely standing. I'm actually surprised my ample rear didn't end the life of that rickety chair but something tells me they would have patched it back together anyway and put it back in the room. It wasn't clean at all in the room besides the bedding. Dust and grime everywhere. The bed is like sleeping on a concrete slab. I hurt so bad from the night's "sleep" that I wish I'd saved the $90 and slept in my pickup. The only reason they got 1 star instead of 0 is the girl at the front desk last night was VERY friendly, courteous and kind. My advice? Keep the night front desk girl and fire everyone else. Clean the place up, replace the busted down furniture and terrible mattresses, hire competent cleaning staff and try again. read more

This is an average two star motel. Exactly what I expected for a place to crash for the night. It's kiddy-corner from the Pellston air port, so it's easy to find. It has an indoor pool. White duvee covers on all the beds. Clean rooms. The beds were a little too firm for me and I tossed and turned most of the night. read more

We stayed at the Pellston Lodge before heading to Mackinac Island. This is a nice lodge with very friendly staff. They will pick you up from the airport, though it is just across the street. The rooms are older, but nice. They have a pool and some workout equipment. A nice place to stay. read more

I thought it was rather convenient that it was right across from the airport. the service was good. the front desk worker was polite and helped me out as much as possible. the room was nice. not great but would work for the days that i stayed in the area. the room would be a hunters dream. the breakfast that was served the following morning was a nice selection. i wasn't surprised to find they didn't have gluten free options but. that not a big deal unless you can't have gluten. the pool was big and warm, one of the only pools i can say i just walked in to. i didn't use it but i saw they had a workout room. when i left the front desk assistant was very nice and was quick. read more

Walked in, no one at front desk. Waited 30 min ringing the bell they put out, still no one... finally a lady shows up with people in her van walks by us and continues to do whatever it is she's doing before finally coming back to help. Tell her we wanted a room and was charged $120+ a night !!! (They take advantage of you since your in middle of no where) get into our room and looks like it's from the 80s . Faucet and shower water taste horrible and will leave you smelling worse than the b.o. you're trying to wash off. Breakfast in morning consists of watery eggs and warm milk (since they leave it sit right out on counter next to the warm trays ) only nice thing to say about this place was the pool and hot tub were decent but still not worth the price they gouge you with. Would recommend driving the extra 15 -20 min and spend that kind of cash on a good hotel in petoskey. In passing through the area, we stayed at the Pelston Lodge. From the outside it looks VERY nice. We were surprised at how DIRTY the carpeting is, in the hallway on the main floor, leading to the rooms, but thought "oh, well; it IS the main floor hallway it gets dirty fast"..... Oh, the room (121)!! We had a standard queen room, no problem with that.... However, the DIRTY carpeting that greeted, us was appalling!! Not to mention the DIRTY bathroom!! The toilet has NO lid and you can see into it from the doorway, and it was ONLY partially cleaned. The walls haven't been cleaned since the place opened, as there was dust on them from the fan..The top of the tile-baseboards, around the bathroom floor, have NEVER been cleaned, and it would be SO easy since they are tile.. Now let's talk about the tub/shower!! The drain is very slow, so you're standing in dirty water while showering and the WHITE fabric shower curtain, has NOT been changed in a long time, because it becomes YELLOW after it is wet and VERY STINKY!! (we did see two elderly women cleaning some of the rooms. That may explain the quality of cleanliness in the rooms, as they BOTH looked like they had problems with motility, etc..(not being mean, just honest) They offer FREE breakfast.. Don't bother!! The choices are VERY few and poor.. Also, they do NOT have enough tables and chairs to accommodate a larger crowd. The staff at breakfast time have the "what do you want" look on their faces, while busy talking only to each-other.. Go elsewhere for breakfast!! I expected much better for the price they charge and I would NOT recommend staying in this place to anyone, until they clean it up.. read more

If I could give this zero stars I would. I only had my room cleaned one of the days I stayed there and on top of only cleaning half the room, a laundry bag (clearly labeled laundry) full of my clothes was thrown out. Now I know people can make mistakes and things can accidentally get misplaced, BUT THE BAG SAID LAUNDRY ON IT! Also, when the general manager of the hotel was notified that I had a bag of clothes missing they did not do anything to make it right and they did not even apologize. Instead they tried to blame it on me and said that it was my fault I had left the bag on the floor. The manager could not have been more unprofessional and rude and I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more
