The staff get 5 stars at Pellston Lodge! So kind and accommodating. Old school wood lodge decor, rooms are spacious and clean and the airport is right across the street.

Bedbug

BEDBUGS!! No excuse. This hotel hasn't encased their mattresses in bug blockers, which is pretty much the universally accepted standard these days. I stayed here on Sunday evening, December 8, 2019. When I visited the front desk with photos taken just then, they acknowledged it was a bedbug, and handed me keys to another room 40 feet down the hallway, which probably had no impact on the likelihood of being free of the pests there. Normally, I would have packed up, found a room elsewhere, and left after making sure I wasn't charged for my stay. As it was, this was 10pm, it is a very rural area with nothing close by, no vehicle at my disposal and a 6am flight out in the morning from the airport across the street. I didn't turn off the lights or sleep that night...I personally know many business colleagues who have returned from trips with dozens of big, red, raised welts from bedbug bites at hotels that don't have stringent pest prevention programs in place.

"Premium" room with jacuzzi bath, but when you turn on the jacuzzi jets a TON of black crap shoots out into the water. DISGUSTING!

Dump! Staff never at the desk. Room was dirty. Breakfast absolutely deplorable. Stale bread products and nasty coffee.

When we arrived in the evening, the inside fireplace and outside fire pit were both burning. Sitting by the fire outside was so peaceful, keeping warm and looking at the stars while enjoying complimentary beverages- they always have tables in the lobby stocked with water, iced tea, coffee, and hot water for tea or cocoa. Our room was nice, nothing crazy luxurious but spacious and well appointed. The king bed was comfy and the shower pressure was better than at home! My dog loved the little patio space looking out onto the back lawn. I saw reviews talking up the breakfast- it was fine, good to great if you managed your expectations. There were 2 hot food options and the rest was a regular continental breakfast spread, albeit lots of options. Like one morning they had a French toast bake and scrambled eggs. But it's not a made to order diner or omlette bar or something. Still good and plenty filling for us so I'm not casting this as a negative at all. The grounds are nice as well but the nature trail was a bit muddy- but it was early May after some rain! We'd love to come back, as a weekend wasn't enough time to explore all the places nearby that we wanted. Also shout out to the staff who found my sleeping eye mask in the room after we checked out and called me to let me know (and offered to hold it or mail it!)

The hotel is located in a village with dining, shops, real estate, and more. Ample parking, clean beaches, and amazing views of the Marina. The Inn at Bay Harbor has been a Marriott property for 22 years. As of 11/1, it will be a Boyne Resort. I don't think the change of ownership will impact the charm. If anything, it will improve things by being a Michigan based company. Love that this hotel has so many room variations - typical rooms to cottages. Outside of the Inn, there are home rentals through Bay Harbor's website too. This hotel is open year round and there is so much to do. Love high tea! Makes me feel like a princess while adulting. My husband and I plan to come up again this summer. Such a special place! Check out the bay harbor website for events if you're interested in their art festival, hot balloon festival, or any festive activities. They have so much going on! Definitely great for a romantic weekend or coming up with the family. The hotel isn't dog friendly but there are rentals that will allow dogs in the village.

Rooms are super clean and comfortable. The grounds are impeccable. Pots bursting with color, modern hammocks, and lawn games welcome you to lounge. The beautiful pool area provided free sunscreen, lush large towels, and ice cream! If you want to be pampered or just relax I highly recommend.
