I have had countless in patient in grown procedures, wart removal on the bottom of my left foot, and heel surgery on my right, and soon to be left. My foot issues have been the result of improper foot wear and jobs where I'm on my feet 12 plus hours a day. This doctor and his staff is amazing with pushing conservative care first and foremost. They listen to you and take your pain seriously.

My mother had a colposcopy here in May 2025 after a + HPV test result done elsewhere. It was the…read moreMOST traumatic experience for her. In the initial visit prior to the procedure I had mentioned to Dr. Levy that my mother has very low pain threshold and if they use any topical anesthesia or pain medication prior to the colposcopy. He stated, "No, she won't need it". I emphasized the low pain threshold again and he said, "It's like a Pap smear, she won't feel pain if she wants she can take Ibuprofen". I ask what's the maximum dose she can take he states, "800mg". I trusted his medical advice. During the colposcopy Dr. Levy was QUIET the entire time that I had asked him if he could explain what he's doing so that it could ease my mothers nerves (Side note: My mother is Hispanic and speaks Spanish only and I was there to help translate along with his assistant) When I asked that he seemed annoyed, did he though? BARELY. I had to ask at certain points what he was doing because my mother was in so much pain each time. (Ex: He put a swab inside a solution and I had to ask what's that solution? He said it was a vinegar-like solution. Nothing else. I asked is it supposed to like highlight potential cancer cells? He goes yes. That's his definition of explaining which clearly was me asking the questions). You would think since there's a language barrier you would want to explain to the patient so they're at ease. He did not empathize with her or provide comfort during the whole thing at all. Needless to say, my mother was in pure agony. She cried throughout the entire procedure. It was heartbreaking to see her go through that and as a daughter being unable to do nothing but trust his judgement. He stated, "You've given birth already, this pain is nothing compared to that". Yes, you read that right. To make matters worse during the procedure my mom started to hemorrhage. The only reason I even knew that wasn't because he blatantly told me. I saw him ask his assistant for more gauze for the past minute which raised my question, "What is going on? Is there something you're not telling me". He was being quiet until I asked him that and he very angrily stated, "I can't keep explaining to you everything I'm doing. She's hemorrhaging I'm focused on controlling that right now". Mind you I didn't ask him to explain to me what he's doing at that very moment all I wanted to know was if there was a complication because he kept asking his assistant for more gauze!? Wonder how many other patients he's treated like this. Unacceptable. 5 months later my mother has persistent pelvic pain post colposcopy. He told us it would be gone within a week which clearly hasn't. She is traumatized and doesn't trust doctors anymore. She cries everyday because she is left with this pain since the procedure. She's unable to lift heavy things, walk fast or go up the stairs like she used to. Also, the results from her colposcopy were + for cervical cancer. So imagine, she's supposed to be getting treatment for her diagnosis but because of this horrible traumatic experience with a uncompassionate, non communicative and unprofessional doctor she trusts NO doctor now. To Dr. Levy: You don't get to diminish a patients pain. Pain is subjective! Also, if someone tells you from the beginning that this patient has a very low pain threshold you need to believe that not brush it off. Can't handle a patient like that then refer them out. You DON'T get to comment on what labor pain feels like because you don't have the same reproductive system as women do. Completely insensitive and highly unprofessional. I hope you can sleep at night knowing that you literally ruined my mothers trust in doctors. Know that because of you I might lose my mother since she doesn't want any treatment at all. You completely failed her.

Dr. Zaiff has never rushed me, always answers my questions, and makes sure to fully explain everything that is part of my treatment. Jackie, his assistant, is also very nice and organized. I've never needed to wait more than a few minutes for the doctor and I'm usually out of the office within 15 minutes. Dr. Zaiff has the rare mix of a warm and caring personality and incredible medical competence. The entire staff, from the receptionists, to Dr. Zaiff are fantastic. I highly recommend this practice.

I called back less than five minutes later to say that I could get the referral and your phone answerer stated that everyone was out to lunch, there would be no appointment that day and that someone would call me back not her but someone and she hung up... spoke to somebody else in the neighborhood and they said the same thing about your phone answerer, advice:: monitor her calls without her knowing and you will see for yourself.

I need them to be experienced, instill in me a sense of confidence about their work, and I really need them to listen. I need them to tell me why they make the recommendations they make. I'm not the kind of patient who just sits back and takes whatever a doctor says without a grain of salt. I may be a doctor's worst nightmare, in this sense. When I visited Dr. Martin Gilbert for some trouble I was having with my knees, he took the time to get a detailed history of my health and my family's health, and to listen to everything I was saying. Throughout the exam, whenever I had any questions, no matter how silly they sounded to me, he answered them thoroughly and with respect. Although I wasn't a serious case, or a case that was going to lead to big bucks for him in the long run, he spent plenty of time with me, and gave me recommendations that seemed reasonable and were clearly explained. Though I'm thankful I don't have to visit him very often, I think Dr. Marvin Gilbert is a fantastic physician, and I recommend him very highly to anyone looking for a good Orthopedic Surgeon.

He seemed like a nice guy, spent time hearing me out, but me living with pain everyday, having difficulty standing, getting up, getting out of bed, doing everyday things and begging him for more PT did not concern him. He kept asking me if I was looking to sue and said I won't get anywhere because there were no broken bones! I am not looking to sue, but to live without a large amount of clumping scar tissue in my back and buttocks, as well as pain and soreness for the rest of my life. I was too young to feel this old. He said it was a contusion and it would take a long time to heal, maybe two years. He said he doesn't believe in PT, said "It doesn't work" and "it is a glorified massage". What is striking is Dr. Gilbert's ambivalence. He said, "Eventually, we all need our parts replaced" and explained how he just had his left knee replaced. What he doesn't seem to understand is he is 30 to 40 years older than I am and he should not be using his own personal experience when treating a 30 something year old patient. He told me to continue to do the exercises on my own at home, take Alleve, but what he would like to continue seeing me for is arthritis in the hips, which he claims to be early onset but I saw nothing in the X-Rays. It was shocking that he didn't care for what I was actually seeing him for but was looking for something else to treat me for. We all know, arthritis is incurable therefore, it would only amount to costly medical bills, where only his practice would benefit. But as far as the contusion to the sacrum, which affects me due to radiating pain from neck to buttocks, quick degeneration of my back and butt muscles from further development of scar tissue, he said there was nothing he could do for me. I contacted the NY Workers Compensation Board and they did not assume I was looking to sue and told me to get another Dr.'s opinion. They also thought Dr. Gilbert was crazy for telling me, "Eventually, we all need to get our parts replaced." Honestly, may Dr. Gilbert retire peacefully and not ruin the chances of another person living a decent life without pain. He had served as a doctor but perhaps he is too jaded to be a good one now.
