What a mess parking for this event was. It literally took 40 minutes to get through the parking lot to where the $6 parking fee was collected and we were able to park. We missed all of the first period of the Bulls hockey game mainly because of the parking. Yes, we were 10-15 minutes late for the game, but the parking process made us much much later. I would Uber next time and park somewhere else. read more

My dad and I love spending time together coming to watch the Birmingham Bulls hockey team. To us it's just very simple, easy, and most of all SAFE coming here. A good night out here would cost around $30-$40 a person including ticket price and a parking spot. We haven't tried the concession foods yet because we always eat before the game. The crowds and the people working have all been nice and you can tell that they are happy to be there! read more

Large space to have an event. Not too cold even by the ice. The concessions were reasonably priced, even the drinks. I was surprised. It was very loud so bring Loops or ear plugs if you need that sort of thing. Very exciting game but no fighting in the stands. The parking situation was strange. We were told to park at the local Walmart and ride a school bus back over to the complex. We had gotten there early on purpose for free jersey night but not having that information about parking made us later. We were disappointed that they ran out of jerseys before we got up farther in the line. We didn't have to wait in line long for the bus to get back to our car. 05/24/2022 Shout out to Pelham Civic Complex for allowing Calera High School Class of 2022 to graduate here together at their facility vs separately at The University of Montevallo. The graduation originally was scheduled to be outside at the Calera football stadium but due to inclement weather those plans were altered. Overall the facility is nice. Adequate seating. We were able to see the stage with no issues. Parking was insane due to graduation and this being a voting site also. What a mess! Nevertheless, I'm thankful to this facility for opening their doors in a time of need. Congrats Calera High School class of 2022!! read more

The five stars are for the clean bathroom. Attended a wedding ceremony (a small cultural ceremony done for the bride before her actual wedding) and I found this center to be charming and efficient. The room was just big enough and comfortable enough for the party of 100 people or less. Lighting could be better for the pictures. They provided a dance floor and the chairs we sat on were comfortable and the tables spacious. Caters were given ample space to set up as well. Event staff were friendly. My car stalled while parking and the parking staff rolled jumped, and helped me get it parked. I think this parking staff were apart of Oak Mt Amphitheater. There was a huge concert the night of which caused a huge traffic delay. I'd recommend checking their schedule before scheduling an event. read more

I come here a lot to watch the Birmingham Bulls! It's a great place, all seats are good seats, bathrooms clean, and the concessions are fast. My only complaint is that sometimes the pretzels are covered in SO MUCH salt, to the point that I spend more time trying to get the salt off than eating it. read more

Went ice skating recently with my girlfriend. Had a great time ice skating but noticed an individual that worked there by the name of Alex had a very snappy mouth considering we were customers. A small issue had arose in which we needed to seek the help of an associate. Was not a big deal but customer service that day could have been much better read more

Parking is horrible. Went to a Birmingham bulls game tonight and there were only 2 lanes roped off that went around the parking area and it took an hour to get to a parking space from the time we got there. Never again! read more

Decided to go to the Concession stand as I was waiting for skating lessons to finish. The concession stand was a bit on the pricey side, but it was convenient and the individual working the stand was very friendly and efficient (I am not sure how organized it is during busier times). There was not much COVID-19 precautions, but the individuals were wearing gloves and there was hand sanitizer available. I decided on a hot dog which totaled to $4.50 not including tax, again it was a bit on the pricey side, but for the convenience, the price was acceptable. Overall the hot dog was tasty, however I did not see much options for toppings. I would return if convenience permitted. Overall, I would rate a 4/5. read more

We attended the 2019 Theatre on Ice Nationals in Birmingham. This rink is spacious and well maintained. 2 ice surfaces. Wonderful. Really a top notch facility, and we are spoiled coming from a four surface rink "up North". read more

I have been to the Pelham Civic Complex many times over the years (mostly to ice skate or watch Alabama hockey games) and this place has never looked better! Some MAJOR renovations were done after the Birmingham Bulls (SPHL hockey team) announced their return to the Birmingham area and that the PCC would be their home. More seats were installed in the main rink along with various concession stands and stands selling beer, wine and liquor. It definitely has a brighter and cleaner look than it in the past. Some of the smaller corridors and walkways can get crowded during intermission, but I think that's pretty standard for all venues. Surprisingly, it's not as cold (temperature-wise) as it used to be in the main rink, which is nice. This is a great facility to have in Birmingham and I look forward to attending more hockey games here! Go Bulls! read more

Did a weekend tourney out here . A really decent is rink in Alabama, two sheets of ice, surface is just okay. Locker room are small. I would rate this a two star rink but given that there is a ice rink in this region earns it a bonus star. read more

As a guy who basically grew up at Alpine Ice Arena, it's nice to have another venue to take my kids to. There are two rinks with scattered public skate times, but it's easy to find the schedule on their website. $7 admission and $2 rentals make this a very affordable activity for kids and adults. In fact, it's probably the best rainy day fun you can have. The rental skates seem to be in good shape as well. This is something that can separate a good rink from a bad one. As you would expect, they also host general skating lessons, figure skating lessons, hockey lessons, broom ball, and pick up hockey. read more

What a terrific facility! They hosted the National Theatre On Ice Championships this weekend and it was the perfect space for all of us. (72 skating teams of approx 20 people each, plus all their coaches, handlers, props and fans) The space felt roomier than it is, the competition ice surface was as good as it could be in 100 degree June heat. Fairly remarkable actually. Great location, near to many restaurants, hotels and birmingham. read more

I've been here more than once, and everytime I go, I always have fun! I love ice skating, but in Savannah, they only ever offer ice skating during the winter. It's always so hot. It's amazing that there is a complex that offers it year round. Last Friday, we had a ice skating date. I found out he could skate, and I just had to see him do it. I'm not the best skater, but I always enjoy it. We went right when they opened at 11 and there were some other people on the ice, mostly ice skaters practicing. We rented skates since we aren't professionals. I'm not a pro, but my only complaint was that the skate blades were super dull. It made me skate on the side of my foot. We were there for more than an hour then we left for lunch, but overall, it was super fun! Anytime I want to cool down and skate some, I'll head here and lace up! I will be back! read more

We haven't been in a long time so I brought my daughter and her besties ice skating. The facility is clean and the ice looks well maintained. There doesn't appear to be too many unsupervised children, which make me happy. There are a tin of people here but they seem to be playing nicely together. The girls are having a great time so we'll definitely have to make anither trip down! read more

Bought a groupon to skate and checked the website before to see if they were available which it said they were. I drove 16 miles to arrive and see they are having a theatre on the ice competition and their is no public skate. The website spoke nothing of this and said they were available all day. Which is unprofessional as hell and I will not be using their services any longer. read more

Proceed with caution. I'm a seasoned skater, 4 decades of skating experience. I've coached. But, the arenas I skated in were top of the line. You never had to worry about incompetent employees. I'd hired a coach and was working towards competing in April. As a result of Pelham Civic Complex's poor ice, I ended up with a fractured wrist. Apparently one end of the rink was melting, while I was having my private lesson on the other end of the arena. No one ever returned my calls. No one checked to see how I was doing. That was my first red flag. I did a little digging and found some interesting information. They have a history of people sustaining injuries due to wet ice. Don't expect the City to serve justice. I think they have a lot of people bought off, personal injury firms. In fact, their big sponsor is an Orthopedist/Sports Medicine practice. The same practice where I was seen by Dr. Gene Watterson. This doctor carries his bible, then asked me to lie to another specialist; to help treat me. When I confronted him, no one returned my calls. I believe this facility has a racquet going when there's an injury. One fills out an accident report, says it's done all the time. Another calls the EMT's, "It's a free service." Pelham EMT's show up and refer you to the ER in Alabaster. I didn't go. Had I gone immediately, the x-ray wouldn't have revealed the severity of my injury. My advice, go rollerskating in Fultondale. read more
