Just about my favorite club period! The drinks are strong and affordable, the bartenders have real talent, and the music rocks!

Truth Lounge & Bistro - Salad with salmon bites

Truth Lounge & Bistro

If I were playing Truth or Dare, I would dare you to try one of the newest and most popular soul…read morefood restaurants in downtown Beaumont. I'm talking about the one that is gaining a lot of attention, Truth Lounge and Bistro, located at 672 Orleans St. The name of this restaurant does not lie. Their food is GREAT and that's the TRUTH! Over the top flavor in every savory bite. Luscious and delectable, you will not disagree. This place SLAPS!! Everything from the fried fish, chicken, steaks, burgers, oxtails, and I must also add the healthy delicious salads... are full of that soul food southern flavor that will grab you on the first bite (menu pic included). They load your plate with food that is enough for two meals or share it with someone else. This is Real Soul Food Here!! The restaurant is rather small, with about ten tables and four chairs at each. There is a full-service bar and flat-screen televisions on the wall. Where they lack in size they make up with flavor. There were three of us in our party and we dined in. The atmosphere was inviting, friendly, and even a bit cozy. Beverly was our waitress and she was attentive to every detail and request. It was cornbread bowl day, and if you don't know, you will when I finish. It is a ring of sweet honey cornbread with a protein of your choice and two or three sides cuddled right in the middle. The proteins include lamb chops, roast, chicken, or fish. The sides include yams, collard greens, mac & cheese, pinto beans, green beans, or baked beans. My two lunch friends ordered the cornbread bowls. One was the cornbread bowl with fried chicken (OMG), mac & cheese, and green beans. My other friend ordered a vegetarian bowl with cabbage, yams, and mac & cheese. I ordered a salad with salmon bites, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, and a side of ranch. It was beautiful to look at and even better to eat. Freshness and flavor throughout this beautiful and savory salad. I would order it again. We had an amazing and fun time, our plates were filled to capacity. You better bring your appetite when you go to TRUTH because you will need it to finish all the food they pile on your plate. You definitely get your money's worth. Please give Truth a try and you can Thank Me Later! Tell them you saw it on Best Bites. What have you enjoyed at Truth Lounge & Bistro? This is a recommended Best Bites. #Best Bites #WeSupportLocals

I agreed to go without any expectations, except for having a great time with friends who have been and Mamou's international reputation for its genre of music. I was amazed by the experience, to say the least! Fred's Lounge is small, intimate and its music broadcasts live every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to around 2 p.m. on KVPI AM radio out of nearby Ville Platte, Louisiana there every Saturday. There was no cover, people there were friendly and embraced visitors as family. Even a wall flower could not help rump-rocking in their seat, clapping to the beat, stomping their feet, or even being coerced to cut-a-rug with a perfect stranger, while embracing the unique Cajun music rhythms. The band that day was local famed Don Fontenot and the Louisiana Boys. I could not help admiring the bass player's guitar strap made out of alligator hide. The craftsmanship was incredible! Also Don Fontenot, the accordion player's passion and creativity was spot on! The band played traditional music in Cajun French, however at times they played American classics like Proud Mary. They even played La Grange by Z. Z. Top in both English and Cajun French. However the most memorable song was "Ride the Donkey" with a guest performance from a local lady in the lounge, who he-hawed better than the best Jenny! I am certain it wasn't her first time performing this song! If you are a music enthusiast, looking for a fun destination trip or a simply a unique memorable experience in Louisiana, Fred's Lounge is a must!
