I needed it fixed quickly so the contractor can continue his work without me staying here 24/7. I also wanted a quality opener with a decent price and good workmanship by the installer. I called EZ Garage Door and they met all these requirements with flying colors. I contacted EZ and its owner, Robert, responded immediately. He was on vacation but scheduled me the next day after his vacation ended. He offered me a free inspection to find the problem I was having, but I already was planning to have a new opener installed. As a courtesy, he sent me a list of openers I could have installed, with the total OTD price for whichever one I chose. He had at least 7-8 to choose from. He installs only quality brands and is very knowledgeable of what each can do, which depends on what you want the new opener to do. He arrived at the scheduled time and was ready to install immediately, since I had already chosen the opener I wanted. Robert is extremely knowledgeable and very prepared to do the job. He had to work around a "remodel in process", but had no issues or problems with the situation. He said it would take about 90 minutes to complete the job: 60 to complete the installation and 30 to explain any and all nuances of my new opener. The installation was very clean and professional. I not only want quality but appearance as well. It must be good AND look good. Robert was excellent! It looks clean. He spent the last few minutes explaining all the new functions of my new opener and how to use them. If you haven't purchased an opener in years, BE READY FOR AN EXPERIENCE! They have modernized the opener to meet today's automation. My business with EZ Garage Doors was a great experience. Robert is young, knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. He's clean, organized and leaves no trace of even being here. He truly deserves a 5 star rating, and if you're looking to replace or upgrade your opener, this is the place to go. There are a couple more I would consider doing business with because I've dealt with them before, but Robert is the cream of the crop. One guy, working with quality parts and offering professional installation, is rare in this day and age. If you need work done, start your search here and work down. Previously, we had been told by another contractor that we immediately needed to replace everything and was given an $1,100 quote. Paul and his partner (I think his name was Ron - my apologies for not remembering!) not only said that it wasn't necessary, but easily fixed the issue as well as explained in detail as to what the issue was in the first place. And on top of their refreshing honesty, they also cut me a break on the repair costs. We will eventually need to get a new door and we will 100% be using Do It Right Garage Doors. I would love to rate this provider higher but unfortunately I just can't. I paid $2,000 and after…read morethree visits I still have to hire another vendor to retouch and undo what John did to my home. John worked on my job over 26 hours and it still is neither completed nor at the caliber one would expect for $2,000! The Job: I requested weatherstripping and paint on two exterior doors. I selected John because he seemed friendly and kind in his bid. In person, he was indeed friendly and kind, even eager to please. Unfortunately John doesn't possess the skill set to do this job well. He lacks any sense of time management and is obviously not a painter. Plus, he has terrible choice in assistants. The Assistant: A creepy man in a cowboy hat, constantly attempting to hug me full front and also side arm. He landed a few kisses on my head and face. He told me over and over that he loved me and he tried to get me to write down his phone number to call him personally. "Don't tell the boss he doesn't like it when I do this." No kidding! I felt UNSAFE in my own home. I consider this behavior harassment and I spoke to John about it. The assistant wasn't present at the subsequent visits. Thank you, John. Communication: John was over 2 1-2 hours late for two of our three meetings. Read that again. 2.5 hours late twice, texting me at the time he was supposed to show up. For our third meeting I had to coax him into coming at our agreed upon time. He contacted me to say he'd be late and I convinced him that he needed to show up at our agreed time. Furthermore, John told me the work would take an hour, two at the most. At the first visit, the job took 8 hours for two men to do. The work was very unsatisfactory, so John came back a second time. He said it would take at the most 2 hours. It was an 8 1/2 hour day and the work was not satisfactory when he left my house. On the third and final day John said it should take an hour, two at the most. We know what that means ... ELEVEN hours later my Business Manager sent John home. Conclusion: If John couldn't get a simple paint job right in 26 hours, he never will. The most disturbing part of all was that he couldn't see or identify the errors. We kept asking him, "what do you think needs to be corrected," and he couldn't tell us more than the areas I'd already pointed out. I'll share some photos. Can you see what went wrong? If so, you're several steps ahead of John and his creepy assistant.
