"There's a Pedritos in San Carlos now!?!??!"
Back story: My family, for DECADES, have always enjoyed whatever Pedritos had to offer, whether it's their baked goodies or their sit-down restaurant grub. The catch is we had to travel to Dagupan for it (a mere 20-25 minute drive, but a trek still.) So when I found out there is now one nearby, I was more than ecstatic!
I met with a childhood/elementary school friend here for lunch to play catch up. He, too, hasn't been here before, so we were both excited to pop our SC Pedritos cherry!
We seated ourselves and were handed menus immediately. I wondered for a bit if we had to put in our orders at the cashier or if we were going to be waited on. After a couple more minutes, a server finally got to us so I asked. He said we had the choice to put in the order with a cashier OR to just put in our order through him. (I thought that was weird: wouldn't that get confusing?)
We told him we decided to just do things through him, if that was okay, or asked whatever's easiest for them. He said it was our own preference. Be it.
ICED MATCHA LATTE: I was parched and this did the job. This might be the first time I had this drink and it wasn't green. Regardless, it did the job of quenching my thirst!
PINAKBET: Being half Ilocano, my expectations for this is a bit on the high end. The one they had here was average at best, it can use a bit more work. It had many of the main ingredients, but for some reason it lacked a bit of flavor. Not great, but not too bad.
PORK SISIG: It's amazing what a raw egg can do to a sizzling dish. Not only does it add texture and flavor, it somehow elevates the overall bite. And this without compromising the main taste of the pork. Seasoning was perfect and loved the little crunchies. This one, they did great.
BANGUS SISIG: Again with the egg! The fish, however, was a bit overdone and dry. Still delicious, though, but they may wanna play around with its cook time to make it better.
FOOD: 3.75.
SERVICE: 3. Average at best.
VALUE: 3.5. Slightly above reasonable for what we got.
PARKING: Located in a mall. It can be maddening because it's always packed. Plan accordingly.
OVERALL: 3.5.
I was going to order more food, but my friend said the three we got was way too much already. I made sure every leftover we had was packed and had it sent home to his Mom.
I also grabbed a few baked goods to bring home. Those may be a bit on the pricey end, but I feel is worth it.
There's a reason they've been around for the longest time. I honestly don't remember a time in my life I didn't know about them. That said, I'm looking forward to more visits! So happy to know I no longer have to make almost half hour drive just to have their goodies! read more
