The staff was great across the board. The hotel is just a little run down and over the weekend one of the elevator was completely down which caused a bit of chaos as people tried to figure out alternatives. The meeting rooms were it or miss. Some were fine. Some had HVAC issues and one had a loud dripping noise that made us think that ceiling was going to collapse. The bar was OK with the weekend bartender being great. But oof those hotel bar prices were brutal. The restaurant was convenient and the food was OK with great staff. The location was not as convenient as previous locations in Little Rock, with other restaurants, convenience stores, etc being kind of a hike away.

We stayed here mid April. There is dirt caked on the ceilings and air vents in the public bathrooms. The furniture is all refurbished and there is obviously low effort from management or Hilton to make appearance slightly aesthetically pleasing. I had read a comment that this building needed to be bulldozed and rolled my eyes. Yet, after staying, it's not the just a need to bulldoze. Someone needs to update the building (not just patch holes and paint over them). Our bathroom was fine but out of date. Though, I noticed (without taking a picture) that the air vents were taken out and just patched so nothing is removing moisture, leaving it a mildew haven. It is a great location and has SUCH potential. There are several hotels along the path that are MUCH BETTER OPTIONS. As for the workers, no one was hospitable except one male front desk manager. They all looked exhausted and unhappy. We booked a stay, and with an event in town, there was an employee and local enforcement blocking the parking garage. Without asking if we were Hilton clients, she told us they were full and we could go three blocks down for parking. I had to talk over her THREE TIMES trying to tell her we had paid to stay and have parking. After again telling us they were full, she let us through to see. There were TONS of parking spots. Finally, after checking out and returning home, I realized two days later, that I had left a brand new dress in the closet along with my husband's dress shirts. I called the front desk, who seemed annoyed by my request to locate these items with her busy day. She informed me that they use a company called "ChargedUp" that "helps" search for missing items. They search for 14 days and then close your case. I find it absurd to think you can't find dress items that were left in a closet. It seems they have dishonest and careless management/workers. We have stayed in multiple Marriott's across the country that CALL YOU if you leave items Esther than you having to hunt things down.

    Options for autumn when Canada was "closed" (1 of 2)…read more - - - - - Covid may seemingly be a thing of the past, but, for some, it will never be forgotten because it affected them or their loved ones in far more serious ways. It changed how we interacted, shopped, circulated, and even limited our options as to where we could travel. For a while, Canada was closed and it always comes to the top of my list when it comes to fall colors. That said, other options became New England, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and the Ozarks. Garvan Woodland Gardens is located just outside of Hot Springs, Arkansas, thus in the general Ozarks area. Hot Springs itself was already on the map as place of touristic import. Along a major avenue there is nationally registered "Bathhouse Row," a string of private spas in ornate mansion-sized facilities that rose to fame during the 20th Century. Its most famous visitor may have been Al Capone. I came to learn that Capone died a natural death. One might have thought otherwise. I vaguely knew about these gardens - the Garvan Woodland Gardens. However, if in town and you ask questions about things to do, their existence, and their details, become front and center. It's an easy drive from the small city of Hot Springs. The gardens began as a private garden that then flourished when they were donated and "privatized," or realistically operated by the University of Arkansas. As such, there is an admission fee. As can be expected, the gardens are segmented and themed. The most notable might be the Japanese Garden and the manicured plantings that go with that. There are also other themed areas, including some areas which are a little natural, or scruffier, if you prefer that word. There are other areas such as a toy railroad sort of old town, walkways abutting the lake, and odd contraptions that serve as stairs, bridges, and tree houses. Then, there are some areas with art installations of sort that look sort of granola. I didn't have time to read every placard explaining the logic, if any, of some of these things. There is also a non-denominational chapel on the grounds and it closely resembles the state's Thorncrown Chapel designed by the University of Arkansas's famed alumnus E. Fay Jones. I had already seen that chapel in Eureka Springs, but, if you can't make it to its remote corner of the state (actually just south of and somewhat close to Branson, Missouri), this one will almost enable you to check Thorncrown Chapel off your list. Seasonal blooms will affect what you see. Note that, if seeking fall color in the state, it will come later than other parts of America owing to the more southerly latitude. In the fall, it won't be as "flowery." The forested lands in which Garvan Wooodlands Gardens sits appear to be studded in Southern pine, and reminded me of the vegetation surrounding the Atlanta area. The employees on hand were very helpful. Note that, in this state, your bucket list ,at the very minimum, would be about 3 state parks, 2 more rugged natural areas, the historic areas of Little Rock, Eureka Springs, and Hot Springs, which would include these gardens. The beauty of everything you see may exceed your expectations. Just about everyone is giving Garvan Woodlands Gardens 5 stars. For its context and area, it should fetch 5 stars. However, compared to other places with a similar admission fee, I felt it was closer to 4 stars. It is nonetheless impressive and recommended and you should also consider the month in which you plan to visit. However, it could also be that the few hippie-dippy things there made for an eye roll. They always do.

My husband's surgeon, Dr. Daniel McCoy, and anesthesiologist, Dr. Farrell Haas, were incredible--kind, professional, and so easy to talk to. They explained everything clearly and made us feel extremely confident and cared for the entire time. The nurses, registration staff, and everyone we met were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. From the first check-in to heading home, the whole process was smooth and stress-free. We are so grateful for the care my husband received here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend NPMC to anyone needing surgery or medical care in the Hot Springs area!

    am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the care and communication my husband and I…read moreexperienced during his recent stay following admission from the Ouachita Procedure Center. We arrived at approximately 1:00 PM and were not informed of the treatment plan until around 4:30 PM. At no point prior to that were we advised that my husband would be staying overnight. Because of this, we were unprepared for an extended stay and did not bring his home medications. Upon arrival to the room, we were told that a recliner would be brought for me. However, by 7:35 PM, I was still waiting. At the same time, staff asked about my husband's medication schedule. We informed them that he takes his medications at 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Despite providing this information, by 7:35 PM, no one had administered his medications. At 8:00 PM, we finally received food, the recliner, and blankets. However, we were still waiting on his medications. * 9:02 PM - Still waiting on medications. * 10:25 PM - Still no medications. * 10:56 PM - We were informed that he would not be receiving the medications he normally takes at home. * 11:19 PM - Nurse Jen came in and stated she would try to obtain his medications by midnight. * 11:30 PM - Nurse Jen successfully brought the medications he needed. I want to specifically recognize Nurse Jen, who was kind, professional, helpful, and genuinely worked to improve a very frustrating situation. Her efforts were greatly appreciated. Additional concerns occurred throughout the night: * 12:00 AM - Maintenance arrived to address a sink that had been clogged since we were first assigned the room. * 12:30-12:45 AM - We were required to change rooms because the sink could not be repaired. The following morning, additional communication failures occurred. A lab technician arrived to draw blood while my husband was receiving assistance with bathing. Rather than returning afterward, the technician reported that my husband had refused the blood draw, which was inaccurate. Staff began preparing him for his procedure at approximately 9:50 AM. However: * 12:06 PM - We were still waiting for him to be taken to the procedure. * Staff informed us he was next for surgery, but we then overheard staff in the hallway discussing that he was not actually next. * 12:33 PM - He was finally taken back. Later, while waiting, a physician informed me that the surgeon had an emergency and that my husband had been returned to his room. While I completely understand that emergencies happen, communication throughout the day remained poor. His procedure had originally been scheduled for 10:45 AM. By 2:27 PM, it still had not taken place. At 4:04 PM, I received a call stating that the procedure had finally begun and that someone would keep me updated. Unfortunately, I never received any meaningful updates. Instead, I learned that my husband was in recovery from a young man waiting to perform dialysis. He was very kind and helpful, and I appreciated his willingness to provide information when no one else had. While I understand and respect that medical emergencies can affect schedules, the numerous communication failures throughout this stay are unacceptable. I should not have had to repeatedly track down staff members to learn what was happening with my husband, why his procedure was delayed, or why his medications had not been administered. Delayed medications are concerning enough, but discovering they had not even been ordered is especially troubling. Throughout our stay, whenever we asked questions, the typical response was that staff did not know the answer, would have to find out, or had not been informed. Communication between departments and between shifts appeared severely lacking. This was one of the worst hospital experiences I have ever had. My husband became understandably frustrated. He had not eaten from approximately 4:30 PM on Monday until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, and then was placed on NPO status for Wednesday. Under those circumstances, anyone would have been uncomfortable and frustrated. Again, I would like to commend Nurse Jen for her professionalism, compassion, and efforts to help us during an otherwise very disappointing experience. However, one outstanding employee does not offset the significant communication issues, medication delays, lack of information, room maintenance problems, and overall coordination failures we encountered. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and that steps be taken to improve communication, medication management, patient updates, and coordination between departments so that future patients and families do not experience the same issues.
