No longer would we go to the store to pick up a lightsaber and pretend to be in Star Wars and no longer would we experience the joy and happiness that filled our hearts.... Until now! Toys R Us is back and better in a new location down Cardiff Bay I must admit that I was never a big fan of the other Toy's R Us because it seemed dark and unfriendly. But now there have been some big changes to the current store filled with the brightest lights and the bubbliest of people. This is a gigantic store that a child could get lost in for months. It has such a fantastic variety of toys and I can live my dream once again and pretend to have a lightsaber fight in order to defeat the dark side. The number of aisles are staggering but there is always an assistant prepared to help if you need some help about an item or just finding your way around the store. Toy's R Us has the renovation it needed. It is now a happy and bright place that is filled with all the toys in the world along with excellent service. What more could you need from your favourite toy store?

I appreciate this place will only hold a small interest to the majority of people in Cardiff, but if you're a child of the 80s and resolutely deny the call to grow up that society places upon you, then this place is freaking ace-a-tron. So many memories are contained with its four dark walls. WWF figures, those tiny models of footballers with massive heads that rarely looked like the actual person, Simpson Figurines, Atari stuff, a Super Nintendo in the original Street Fighter II box that I received for Christmas when I was 9. There's a small section of girls toys, but really 80s Toy Shop is all about the boys. It's a tad pricey, but then this places saves you the time and effort of trawling eBay or trudging around boot sales. 80s Toy Shop is a must for any manboy between the ages of 21-40.

Some of September's new products include a Mego Spiderman 12" play figure for the boys out there, or an Anastasia 'Fantasy in Paris' for the girls - then there's a Nintendo Nes Console for any retro gaming geeks, complete with controller and power supply! Although they run an online shop as well as their store in Canton, it's better to drop into the shop if you can because their online shop doesn't always show all of the latest stock (although they do update it regularly).

One sheet of shiny chocolate wrapping paper was so gorgeous I nearly framed it. They have a good range of stock from equipments for your babies, through pre-school learning toys, to traditional games and video games. Not much of a bike selection of like I love about Toys 'r' us but its still good to have another option at good competitive price.

There's a lot of products crammed in to the small narrow shop and is hard to browse if your not sure what your looking for. However there is a lot of things in here your just not going to find elsewhere in Cardiff. Rare collectors items, figures etc are some of the things your not gong to find in your local Toys R Us etc. They will also get things in for you or help you find certain items if you cannot see them in store. The staff are always enthusiastic and ready to help in that sense.

The shop is the brainchild of Ken and Jackie Pile, whose "fun-learning policy" is evident when browsing most of the products on display. I only had time for a quick visit, and for such a small and quaint shop, they really pack in a wide selection of stock. It's like the opposite of faceless enterprise Toys R' Us. Jacken also carry environmentally friendly soft toys called "Ecochums" which are made from an unbleached woollen fabric, natural cotton and stuffed with wool. It's a fantastic shop and definitely worth a browse if you're in need of unique and educational children's toys.

The Entertainer has a good range of toy from pre-school up, including lots of board games, lego and more specialist toys like Hornby trains and Scalextric's. The people who work here really know their stuff too. I was totally lost about what to get a four year old, and they were more than happy to give me a few suggestions in different price ranges. I really like that you can see what your buying here and get a feel for it. Its a really good place to shop, I only wish it was even bigger!

Ahhhh, The Entertainer…read more Do you remember that scene from Home Alone 2: Lost In New York when the kid goes to that really boring looking toy store, and is given the chance to choose any toy he wants from that place? I still haven't gotten over the fact that the stupid brat picked a turtle dove. How is that even a toy? How is it suitable for any kind of fun at all? I always assumed that whilst the part of the toystore we saw was pretty lame, the part out of shot that the Macaulay Culkin could see was even worse. Probably filled with Transformers knock-offs and those really racist black dolls that my best friend's nan used to collect and saw nothing wrong with. That's why he picked the turtle dove; because it was either that, or be labelled a horrible little racist. ... the point of that is, The Entertainer is like someone watched that scene over and over and over, Clockwork Orange style, and then at the end went "I'mma make the best toy store ever, just to make extra sure that no poor child has to play with a turtle dove ever again!" The Entertainer is that store.
