One of the best ideas in the OC aera was to preserve one of the last remaining large tracts of…read moreoceanfront land that no doubt would have been used to build yet more condos & rentals by creating this park in 1969. Hiking, fishing, the boat launch and I suppose using the beach are the major activities. With that said, in terms of hiking there are technically four trails listed on the park's map but one of them is a micro short offshoot of another trail that leads to the inlet and you can see the end of the trail as soon as you start at the beginning. The other three put together barely equal more than a mile but I suppose the main trail would be the yellow trail or the Ocean Trail. It's about three-tenths of a mile and leads along a sandy path to the ocean (duh). I visited twice last week on weekdays and both times things were more or less deserted. There was a state DEP worker sitting in his truck waiting for someone to come use the boat launch so that he could collect the appropriate fees ($12 per launch or $60 for an annual pass if you're a NJ resident or else the fee goes up to $60 and $80 respectively from Memorial Day to Labor Day). But past another car or two no one was on the trails and the only people we encountered on the beach were people who had walked down from their rentals back in town. The beach yielded tons of shells and tons of biting bugs. I suppose you could catch some rays here but it would have to be inside of a tent or by having a tanker truck of bug spray right next to you. Overall things were very quiet with the only noise being the occasional jet ski or two but past that Corson's Inlet is the perfect quiet place for a nice long walk to just think, relax or explore.

Like it's northern neighbor beaches, you need to drive out through a stretch of marsh to get to Del Haven beach, but it is a lot more built up than the little beaches north of it. Unlike in Villas, you can't really park along the street here unless you get one of the 2 or 3 spots right at the beach entrance, and if you don't live beachfront, it is a long long walk to the rest of town here. Thus my 4/5 stars.

I considered buying a house here, and it is more beautiful than photos can convey. But the flies…read morefrom the surrounding marsh lands can be overwhelming. IMO, the best time to visit is the off season, and close to sunset. There are houses built right on top of beach, on pilings over water! The homes must have amazing views. They also have small parcels of private beach at almost every home. But there is a larger public section of beach too. The public area is recently restored, and still not as big as Cooks Beach, Kimbles Beach, or Highs Beach, but the small lanes where the homes are gathered like a village amidst the marshes are really adorable.

This time I just parked and walked in on the beach. Not very many people, but it was good to see a few people out in the distance with romping dogs. Happy dogs on the beach always makes ME happy.
