They have decided to stop the music and the people stopped coming and now there's very few vendors. Bad decision you guys. And what makes it even worse is they are still advertising live music. You see people walking around with lawn chairs asking where the band is playing. Horrible.

On the plus side: local farmers, local businesses, live band, kids' activities, on the premises of The Promenade Bolingbrook mall - so plenty of parking plus if you need to shop at the mall you can do both. Lots of people, which is great! On the not negative side: in our eyes, a farmers' market should promote local, family-owned, small businesses, not huge corporate chains. We were disappointed to see there were a lot of chain restaurants in their own booths, promoting/serving their food. Yes, there should be hot food served at the farmers' market, but it should come from local restaurants. We probably won't come back. We decided to stop in and check it out mostly because we saw the signs coming out of IKEA. Overall, not a bad experience, but not fabulous either.

True story. So, now I eat meat, but try to only think of it as originating in the package it comes in. We had been eating more and more organic meat, but I still didn't feel that great about it. I mean, I am not the folks from Portlandia, (http://www.hulu.com/watch/208808) but I would prefer that my food be antibiotic and hormone free and actually know it for sure. So, I did some research and found out that Nature's Choice was available right at the Frankfort Farmer's Market. Hooray! We signed up for the CSA and egg share and couldn't wait for our first delivery. We get to choose from two different bags and there is always a great selection. Not only do I know exactly where our meat is coming from, but it tastes great. Unlike anything I have ever had. Like what meat should really taste like. The eggs are also delicious and we go through quite a few each month. Before Nature's Choice, my husband lived in fear that I would give up meat again, but with this quality of a product, he can rest easy that this won't happen. In fact, we have already decided that we will continue with the meat and egg share throughout the winter and spring. It really is a great value and a great product. Try it out!

Then on a different order we had a slight issue with our ham slices being discolored and having an odor. This was over the course of buying from them for about 2 years and about 10 different orders. They black listed us from ordering from them because we had pointed out those 2 things. Be careful when you order from them because they don't take well to anyone trying to mention that something may have been bad or wrong.

Boley Farm on 151st Street in Orland Park is now run by a new person who bought out the old operators, but he just seems to be getting up to speed and the selection wasn't as broad ... hence the search for a new stand ... and I think we found it in Just Picked. We stopped in at Just Picked on 171st Street in Tinley Park on a weekday and they had a very nice selection. We have driven by this place dozens of times over the years but never stopped in ... glad we did this time. While the selection looks relatively small as you drive by, once you stop in and look around you'll be more impressed with the variety and quality. This is an everyday kind of farm stand during the Summer and Fall, and the people running it were very nice. The owner (Tom) grows much of what is sold on his farm just outside Kankakee ... thus you get fresh, local-grown FFV everyday where the stock is refreshed daily. All the FFV ... and oftentimes flowers ... are presented outside under an awning ... the barn is for his work equipment and other stock. If you are in the market for a farm stand, you have to give this place a try.
