At 3 o'clock in the morning on Monday, I finally saw a doctor, but the doctor said that he might have acute appendicitis and needed to be transferred to another hospital. We struggled like this until we were discharged from the hospital at 11 o'clock on Monday morning. I don't believe that anyone can still afford to take their children to Kumon. I called them and told them. To my surprise, one teacher told me that my child could get free tutoring due to illness. I gladly accepted. When I came to Kumon today, I asked when I could make up classes for free, but a teacher at the front desk asked me to show a certificate issued by the hospital. To prove that my son did go to the ER. This behavior makes me feel insulted and ridiculous! If my son only has vomiting and diarrhea and does not see a doctor or go to the hospital, do I have to bring my child in front of them to prove that my child is sick? I didn't care that there would be this free make-up lesson. But I felt insulted. Insulting me and my children.

So when I came across Xceed, she was opened to visit the campus and surprisingly, she liked it a lot. So we decided to enroll her even though she was super anxious but we figured that Xceed would be a great way to help her transition back into a regular school (at some point). Well, that was 2022 and now it's 2025! She is starting her Senior year at Xceed. She has made lovely friends. Teachers and staff are great and super supportive. Xceed is a great format. It's a cross between home school and a brick and mortar - but has enough structure that it emulates a college vibe. It's what school should be :)

Struggling with keeping up with our daughters school standards in Kindergarten we were searching…read morefor any program that could help. Her school offered tutoring but in no way shape or form could present the curriculum or plan. Her confidence was low and every parent teacher meeting left us feeling helpless since we were doing everything we could to boost skills at home. A close friend of our reccomended Kumon at the Tower Shops after hearing our daughter was doing summer school instead of camp. We started her immediatly the next week and we were astonished at the mountains she had overcome during the summer. When the school year began she was not even phased at her classwork and in our household Kumon became mandatory before homework. You know "eat the frog first" kind of thinking. It is a lot of work on top of homework and at times we were concerned if she was working to hard. Than she started getting faster and faster at mathematical computations. She began reading harder and harder books. Her handwriting improved. Most importantly she became disciplined all her own. Looking forward to her next Kumon buck and getting dissapointed when she had not completed the work. She was confident and assertive in her classroom. The owner requires a sit down every six months and has an open appointment policy whenever we feel as though our daughter is struggling. She definitely a no nonsense woman but was always very helpful when we needed. As an unconventional family with mt husband being asian and adopted our latin and caucasian daughter we never experienced racism? The owner was nothing but helpful and even worked hard to find another Kumon in our new location. Thank you Mrs. Ireen and all the tutors that helped our daughter get to where shes at. Were happy to say our daughter is a Kumon kid!

Now with that being said, the days are winding down. It's been four long challenging years, but she has made it. This is baby girl's last year of high school....Class of 2025! Am I excited? I'm not there yet, probably might get emotional when I see her get all dolled up in her cap & gown, but I'm neutral for right now. I'm more reflecting on the journey....the many sacrifices I had to make during the transitions through Elementary, Middle and High school. I am slowly letting go of the reigns.
