We love, love, loooooooooooove the produce from here! The major draw for us initially was that the produce is certified organic. The other major draw is that we're reducing our carbon footprint by not having our produce travel from Latin America or the West Coast for that matter...plus, purchasing/consuming produce closer to when it has been picked ensures a tastier product that is more nutritional. We have gone to the Farmer's Market on very hot Saturdays only to get produce that is ridiculously fresh. The produce we've gotten is just gorgeous. I rarely gotten veggies this beautiful from our commissary or local markets. They stay fresh in the fridge for a while and I love knowing that I'm giving my family quality vegetables. We will definitely subscribe to their CSA next year. We totally believe it's well worth it.

I am reviewing the CSA this farm offers. We purchased the summer small share and we're very…read moredisappointed. First of all the portion was very very small and by this I mean you would get three tiny potatoes for example in a week, not even enough to make a side with a meal. For the first 5 or 6 weeks you mainly receive greens and lettuce. I found it unfair that they offer you to PURCHASE for a premium price certain items like blueberries that they don't even include in their CSA, what a bummer. I felt as though our CSA was what ever small amounts they had left over and the best produce was offered at their stands in the farmers market. I wish I had taken photographs of our weekly bag, one week we literally received a 2" piece of rosemary. This really made us laugh considering we have it growing in a pot on our patio and it grows like a weed. To be fair we had a CSA through an organic Pungo farm last summer that was fabulous(Cullipher Farms) In the spring they gave us live herb plants which produced all summer and even came back this year! Their small share was far more than two people could eat in a week and we ended up canning and freezing many yummy things. It also included fruit often, which was a sweet bonus. Cost and quality wise Mattawoman Farm's CSA just didn't add up to other area CSA's we have experienced.

The event included food trucks and a variety of vendors. My friend and I grabbed some BBQ from S&J Catering and it was delicious. We also grabbed donuts from Klassic Donuts and Glazed & Infuzed as well, which were very tasty. As we walked through the different shops, I absolutely loved all the fresh local, produce that was available. One of the shops offered a variety of jarred items and sauces so I purchased Crab Salsa and Spicy Pickled Okra. Both were very good and I definitely need to go back and get more! I absolute love supporting local businesses and I will definitely be returning very soon! Everyone was very nice and I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

I complained but they didn't take the wine back or give me my money back. one last note, the mixed drinks they do have ate weak and not good. overall the place is overpriced and underwhelming

This is a seasonal market that runs from 10am-2pm every Thursday; mid-May through mid-September. They had a great variety of vendors. The food vendor that caught my eye had lobster rolls. There were two or three stands for fresh produce. They also had a few craft vendors and vendors selling homemades like soaps and dog treats. Only 1 MLM company from what I noticed. They also had a few local organizations. I spent most of my time talking to the local 4H Office representatives. As a former 4-Her this was a really nice surprise! They are open every Saturday 9-noon (May-Oct) and every 3rd Saturday 9-noon (Nov-April). This is also a pet friendly market. Parking is street parking or there is a small free parking lot nearby. Old Beach farmers market has over 30 vendors each weekend. You can find fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs, seafood, flowers, cheese, mushrooms, sauces, baked goods, tea and much more. You can even find a food truck. Some of my favorite Vendors are: Capstone Mushrooms, they always have a great selection of Oyster mushrooms (blue, pink, gold, king) , beech, Chestnut, lions Mane and shiitake. They sell grow kits if you want to try your hand at growing your own as well as extracts and blends you can add to your soups, sauces or drinks. Life is Gouda, they sell a variety of cheese based spreads. My favorite is the smoked gouda. It goes great with crackers, celery and carrots, a must try! Cromwell's Produce & Fritillary farm is my go to for fresh produce. This market does have a few produce vendors to choose from but I frequent these two the most. They always have fresh greens and fruits that are in season. Nick B's Chimichurri sells absolutely the best chimichurri sauce. It has a long shelf life and doesn't need to be refrigerated. This Sauce goes great on everything, steak, chicken, fish, lamb, even a chip. I find the prices to be very reasonable and comparable to the large chains. Definitely recommend stopping by and supporting small business and local farmers.

All of these small courtesies add up to a wonderful family-friendly environment and event. -- Hours -- KGFM runs on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month from May through September from 4-7pm. -- Takeaways -- Local produce, local artists, great prices on seafood, and more offered in a well-spaced outdoor market allows for social distancing. With the inclusion of food trucks you can make a family dinner out of your shopping trip. Food truck prices are on par with others, which doesn't make for the most affordable dinner, but the offerings are excellent. KGFM is great option for families who want to frequently support local vendors!
