You really can't beat the atmosphere at the Pearl. Whether it's a weekend morning for the Farmers Market or a weeknight for dinner, it's easily one of my favorite spots in San Antonio to just walk around and soak in the vibe. * The Vibe: Always lively and beautifully maintained. It's the perfect blend of historic architecture and modern energy. * The Food: So many incredible options--I love swinging by Pullman Market for local finds or grabbing a bite at one of the spots near the green. * Pro Tip: If you're driving, the garage parking is usually the move to save time, especially on busy weekends! Always a 10/10 experience for a staycation day or showing people around town.

The Pearl Historic District is a historical district that turned into a fun area that is useful to the masses. There are amazing dining options, an enlightened grocery store, spas, hair salons, cafes, boutiques, bookstore, hotels and apartments. Not only is it a great hub for the locals to unwind, gather or shop, it is also connected to the San Antonio Riverwalk and suitable as a tourist destination. The shops in this district are suitable for those looking for a vibrant area that has quality of life. However, it is to be expected that the price points are on the higher end. It is a nice addition to San Antonio's cultural and food scene. The main attractions are fabulous restaurants, Hotel Emma, Pullman Market, bars, shops, bakeries etc.

The Pearl area is beautiful and has a lot to offer. From Pullman Market, to the many food options both inside the market and at the bottling company (several food vendors and a bar), market shopping, the outdoor grass area and water features for kids, and several other restaurants (Mon Chou Chou, Ladino, Best Quality Daughter, to name a few) and shops (Twig book shop). You could be here the full day. Hotel Emma is here as well, with their lovely bar and restaurant. It feels a bit higher end than the market area, with a great lounge (that does not feel very kid friendly but the rest of the Pearl area is extremely kid friendly). Gorgeous hotel and interior. Pearl also has weekday Night Markets, movie showings, and a weekend (Sat and Sunday) Farmers Market. The Pearl also has access to the River Walk, which is never crowded and a nice walk as well. Be ready to take the stairs to access it. The river shuttle ferry has a stop there also, if you'd want to take it from the other parts of the River Walk. They have parking lots under the highway, or at the Pullman Market, or street parking.

Came through for the Pearl Market on a Sunday and it was super busy! I love this area to walk around and explore the events, restaurants, boutiques and the weekend markets ... Saturday and Sunday markets host different vendors, so check their website if there's something you are looking for specifically. There was an ice rink since it was around the holidays when I visited this time. The area is clean and very family friendly! I'd definitely recommend this if you are interested in shopping local!

I was here at the Pearl yesterday reviewing the Central Market Rotisserie Chicken when it dawned on me. San Antonio is AWESOME. There is so much soul in this city. I've had some amazing food from Taquitos West Ave, 2M BBQ, Al Carbon Pollos Asado, etc, but what really sold me was the community feel in this city. The Pearl is a huge walkable plaza with great restaurants, coffee shops, seating areas, a river walk, public events, etc. Yesterday there was a seemingly endless farmers market going on with local vendors selling everything you could ever need, kids playing tackle football in an open green pasture, and people just enjoying their Sunday in the sun with a beer or some fresh grub from Palmer Market. There is such a strong community here. It's infectious. I pride myself on forming my own opinions on damn near everything, almost to a fault at times, but this weekend has made me realize that I let Charles Barkley and my hatred for the early 2000s San Antonio Spurs form my opinion on this city. Never again. I will ride or die for San Antonio for the rest of my time here on this planet. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

This was a pleasant "1st-time" experience. Came here with some friends and sat outside for their little one to play. Unfortunately, the outside splash pad area was "under maintenance ". We still enjoyed the overcast and lite breeze. Ordered some oysters from the Pullman Market, a Wagyu burger, and some slices of pizza. Oysters were another 1st for me, and they just taste like the ocean. That's the best way I can describe it. The burger was a miss for me. It wasn't horrible, but it just didn't make me want another. The pizza got a thumbs up vote from the kiddo! Not sure how crowded this place gets typically, but I think the crowds were missing due to the day we visited was Memorial Day. ‍ I'll definitely return, because there's so much more to explore/experience here.

Just an overall nice space to take in for a couple hours with nothing on your agenda. You can enjoy a walk, shop, and dine. I found parking to be pretty easy in a nearby ramp. There's also a small park in the center, just outside the food hall, where you can just sit and enjoy some food or a nice day.

Best vibe ever! Cool wine bars, different shops with unique finds, great restaurants...people just hanging out in the different spaces...lots of gorgeous historic buildings. There's a market that makes fresh pasta and has all kinds of great things in it, including bars and restaurants. You're also on the Riverwalk...so lovely places to sit and look out over the river.

Super chill spot to hang out with a decent sized lawn, splash pad for kids, food call, and upscale restaurants around the Hotel Emma. Right along the riverwalk and about a 30 minute walk from the touristy area of the riverwalk. I loved this area with nice architecture and greenery. There were multiple people taking wedding or professional photos with the beautiful scenery at the Pearl. They also have a farmers market on Saturday and Sundays.

This little district is super cute. We opted here instead of the main River Walk area. So many places to chose from and very dog friendly

The church itself is beautiful and provides the perfect backdrop to the images. The music that goes along with it seemed to match up and provide the right mood. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the sound system was. At 25 minutes long it was just right for hanging out in the square to check it out. There are small tables - try to get an upfront one for the best view. 100% Recommended!

Okay, so I showed up with my out-of-town family thinking this was a Christmas light show. Umm,…read morespoiler, it's not. I was pretty disappointed. But now that I know what it actually is, I've got to say it's great for a free downtown show. There's also a parking garage super close, and they've got chairs set up in front of the church, which is helpful. The light show itself is an artistic take on US and San Antonio history from a French artist using laser lights and sounds, but no words. There's also a great deal of religious Catholic symbolism. To be honest, I was lost for a good chunk of it. I wish they'd at least flashed the years they were showing--I couldn't really keep up with the timeframe showing was until they hit Frederick Douglass (I think?), and that was way deep in...but still everything was visually pleasing even if I didn't understand. Tips: 1) If you're sensitive to lights, bring sunglasses like I did to let your eyes adjust. The laser lights are super bright. 2) Check the website before you go. 3) It's not Christmas-y at all, but if you're up for a free 24-minute artsy history vibe, you might enjoy it more knowing ahead of time.

Historic sculpture on the Commerce Street Bridge. Commissioned by the San Antonio Express, Waldine…read moreTauch created a seven foot tall sculpture to honor the Native Americans. Ms. Tauch was a very well known sculptor in Texas. She was paid $1000 for her sculpture. The sculpture features a First Native American in a full headdress holding shallow bowls in each hand. Each bowl served as public drinking fountains at some point. Pause to think about the historical significance and history that happened here as you visit the San Antonio Riverwalk.

If you can figure out how to get here without a car, this is a great vantage point to see San Antonio, and a great place to start off an adventure downtown. I've always wondered who built this, and Helene S.'s review was quite illuminating! So this sculpture is next to Sebastian's International Torch of Friendship, a maybe 30-40' high red sculpture that's hard to miss. Between this sculpture and that one is the famed Portland Loo- an outdoor free restroom. There's also the elevator that takes you down to the Riverwalk here. Standing on the bridge where this First Inhabitant sculpture is, this is a good spot to eavesdrop on the river cruises below, or just smell the Mexican food coming from Casa Rio. The Indian depicted in this carving must be a Yanaguana Indian chief, as they were the first Indians who were known to inhabit the San Antonio River area thousands of years ago. They covered an area a bit more up river near the University of Incarnate Word down along this river to where the Missions are today. Today, down the street at Hemisfair Park, you'll find Yanaguana Gardens, which celebrates this tribe.
