If you find yoursef in Kona looking for beautiful gift or a piece of jewelry for yourself, The Pearl Gallery is the absolute last jewelry store you should ever set foot in anywhere in Hawaii.
While living in Kona for two years I made the mistake of walking into this shop one day. I found a ring I liked very much listed at $2,500. I inquired about their layaway plan & was told by the owners Chris & Dylan Bureat that if I made cash payments they would knock the price down to $2250. I left a deposit and over the span of the next several months made three more cash payments to fullfill my contractual obligation. Prior to the final payment I re-located to Oahu where upon completing the final payment I spoke with both Chris & Dylan Bureat by phone to confirm that they had in fact recieved it. For the next several weeks they each assured me that "the ring was being fed-exd" to my new residence.
After over two months of literally not being able to reach either of them at any point, I called a neighboring business who was kind enough to walk over to Pearl Gallery & put owner Chris Bureat on the phone. She once again assured me it was on the way. A few days later she called me to tell me that I still owed $500 & that she would not send my ring until I made one more payment!
It was a tedious task to gather all my receipts documenting my payments, but I did. I also had to go to my bank to request a copy of the final payment in the form of a cashier's check
(which of course was immediately cashed). When I shared this all with a very unprofessional & irate Chris Bureat she screamed at me that I had somehow "tricked her son" & called me a "F******g Cu**"! before slamming the phone down on me! At one point she called my CPA a "bit**" & told her to "go breast-feed her baby"!
The insanity & harrassment did not end there, for months she has called & texted me demanding additional payment so she can send me the ring I had long ago paid for that has literally become THE MOST NIGHTMARE CONSUMER EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD or even heard of in my entire life. Unable to communicate with someone who becomes immediately beligerant I asked my close friend & CPA as well as my Mother to attempt to resolve the matter with her. Our stance has been clear and unwaivering; The ring has been paid for, it was never sent, they have been completely unprofessional in their communication or willingness to complete the transaction even after being faxed & hand-delivered certified documents demonstrating completion of payment, & not only do I want absolutely nothing to do with The Pearl Gallery or the ring at this point, I simply would like my money returned. Chris Bureat to this day continues to call & harrass my Mother demanding another payment, claiming their store has a "no refund policy". The last time I looked up the definition of "Refund" it is indicative of a good or service actually ever provided which is not the case here.
Not only has Chris Bureat continued to harrass us, refuse to return the money I paid, threaten to sue me for posting this review, she actually called my mother just yesterday & called HER a "Fu****g Cun*"!!!! We have had it with the nightmare experience of the Pearl Gallery & as a result have filed with the Better Business Bureau, DCCA, & now may have to take her to small claims court if the matter is not resolved this month.
If you don't value your experience as a consumer, money or your sanity & have a compulsion to do business with someone who in my opinion clearly has some type of substance abuse or mental health issue, Go to The Pearl Gallery, if it is a Wednesday when the Cruise ship comes to Kona they just might actually be there.
