There's onsite parking which they share with the other businesses on the industrial estate, so you may have to squeeze in next to cars waiting for MOTs. Inside, it's nothing like a shop. You'll squeeze down a corridor lined with other people's orders waiting to be collected, all neatly wrapped up in bubble wrap. Above these orders are samples of the types of frames they work with - everything is made-to-measure, and you can choose the mount and frame to match your taste and budget. These guys can turn around frames in quite short notice - like 48 hours! - but be warned, because of their religion they are closed for quite a bit of Friday when they attend mosque. Which is fine, as long as you remember and plan for it! (We once sat in the carpark on a Friday for quite a while waiting for them to get back... oops!)

The team are friendly, helpful and professional and have a wide range of wood and metal frames made to order using in stock materials or special order material. You can also pick up a ready made frame with standard or non standard sizes dotted around the shop alongside artwork for sale. There is the option of non reflective art glass for a really reasonable price and finished frames are amazingly priced for the quality. I would be lost without this service and would highly recommend them. An added bonus is their sweet Jack Russell colleague who always brings a smile to my face. I could probably have found the same or a similar thing cheaper online, but sometimes you just don't want to do that (plus if there is something wrong you have the hassle of sending it back and trying to get your money back). I was satisfied with their product and service. The place itself is in a back street and takes a little trouble to find as it is set off the road, but it is quite well-presented when you get inside, plus they have a lot of ready-made frames that are cheaper than having one specially made if you can find one to suit you. I always feel that this is a place to occupy those with no creative thoughts in their own head and too little time on their hands. On the one hand coming from a Fine Art background myself I am kind of glad that people are trying to make and do at all its just its all soooo twee and derived. Ok controversial rant over. They sell a huge array of paints, canvasses, sewing/embroidery, and craft materials. They sell model making kits and gift sets, dried flowers and balloons. You name it and they probably have it. And its huge. But vastly overpriced. The thing for me is if you know what you want and what you are doing and you just want craft materials - its alot cheaper on the net. However if you do want idiot-proof step by step instruction on how to be 'arty' this is probably the place for you. Certain friends of mine will argue that this is a great place to get kids involved. Maybe it is , and call me a scrooge, but my kids will be collecting worms,feathers and leaves and making collages from them just like I used to do.

Matalan is such a great store for everything 'arts and crafts'…read more They sell things for people of all ages and skill groups so if you're bored on day, go down to Hobby Craft and you will definitley find something to do. Some of the things can be quite expensive but it's definitley worth it as the quality of the things they sell is very high. It's a very big shop though and there's something to look at down every aisle so make sure you give yourself plenty of time if you're planning a trip there!

What's worse is that people think these look good and willing buy them as well. Thankfully, Art Framed in Ormskirk is not such a shop. Unlike their cheap imitator's, Art Framed offers its customers a range of pictures that are framed on the premises on frames that are finely crafted and beautiful. They do sell pictures of celebrities and people in general (their catalogue boasts 30,000 images), but they are all tastefully done and look quite professional whilst at the same time not being too expensive. Art Framed also sells a small selection of art from local artists which are also very tasteful pieces of art that are perfectly framed and again available for a small price, a nice touch.

He instinctively knows which colours and frames will be best for your picture and, while he offers advice, he never puts pressure to influence your choice. He is always welcoming and helpful and I look forward to my visits. I am amazed at how his frames enhance what I have produced. It's hard to beat having your work professionally framed by someone with Roger's skill and expertise. It's worth every penny! I have just left two more pictures for him and can't wait to go and pick them up in a couple of weeks time!

Park View Gallery is a picture framers and gallery on the corner of Avenue and Vicarage Road…read more Not only does Park View offer a bespoke picture framing service but also exhibits the work of local and national artists in a wide range of mediums including paintings, photography, jewellery and ceramics. My family have used Park View for a couple of hanging and framing jobs and even had a piece of jewellery mounted, which highlighting Roger's versatility. At the most recent exhibition the work of Jon Jones, a portrait painter was shown and was in fact the artists first solo exhibition since 2008 and his first in Birmingham for four years. His work was striking and gave a real sense of the lives of his subjects. Park View is expanding with a cafe planned by owner Roger, so if you have never visited then there's all the more reason to do so.
