There has not been one single staff member here that has been anything less than patient and empathetic throughout the entire process. They have made me feel so comfortable and at ease through a relatively difficult time and I am eternally grateful to the entire team for that. Dr. Petersen is not only highly skilled but also deeply compassionate. At every appointment he is always more than willing to answer any questions I have (though I've had to ask very little, as he is so thorough with the information he provides). One thing that has stood out to me greatly is how far they go to make sure you are comfortable here. After explaining some of my personal history to the care team, they have made such an intentional effort to guide me through the physical examinations in a way that makes me feel safe and supported. This was my biggest source of anxiety going into my pregnancy journey and after beginning my prenatal care here it's no longer something I even concern myself with. They truly have made a world of difference to my family. I am so appreciative of their exceptional service and highly recommend them to anyone in need of prenatal care.

What a mistake! I traveled 40min to pick up my hearing aid,…read morein their Leesburg office, that was out for repair. After several questions about why I was there with verification after verification the person at the front desk finally went to the back to retrieve my hearing aid. It took two of them to find it. When I tried it on it didn't work. It wasn't communicating with the app on my phone. I asked for help and was told the person in the back would help with this problem. Do I took a chair in the waiting room. Someone tried to enter the office but it was locked. They knocked and I informed the person I saw earlier. She mentioned they were closed for lunch. I thought nothing of it because I was already in the waiting room and they were supposed to help me. 40minutes later I called for an update on my request for help only to be informed that they were closed for lunch and the doctor was out. I objected stating that I have been waiting for 40min for someone to help. They said it was lunch, nobody was asked to help and the doctor is out. Things got heated and I left without getting any help. On my way out the door there was a box left in the doorway which I tapped inside. The rude person at the front desk yelled "Don't kick our box. It's someone's hearing aid." To be clear ,I never kicked the box. I just tapped it inside the doorway so I could close the door behind me. If I can't fix the communication issue with the app on my own I will get help online with the manufacturer. I will never return to Family Hearing Services and I encourage everyone else to avoid this establishment.

He took the time to ask me several times if there were things that I wanted to discuss with him which I appreciated because I did have questions that I forgot. At the end of my visit, he gave me directions to the lab near his office and answered my questions about fasting before the test. He could have easily passed me off to one of his staff to answer those questions but he didn't. When I first arrived, the receptionist was on the phone and had me sign in but didn't give further direction. I sat around for a few minutes wondering if she was going to provide me with paperwork once she was at a good stopping point with her task, but she didn't. Finally, I asked one of the nurse practitioners who showed up around reception if I needed to fill out paperwork and she gave me a clipboard. There were a few elderly couples who may be longtime patients which could be interpreted as proof of a good family doctor. The receptionist told me that Dr. Ham inherited the practice from his father and that he's "well liked." She said Dr. Durr joined the practice about 6 years ago. There was a waiting list the receptionist was calling for patients who wanted appointments. If you're looking for a doctor, Dr. Ham is accepting new patients. In case your insurance doesn't cover stuff or you have a co-pay, bring your checkbook or a wad of cash. No credit cards. The office only accepts physicals on certain days. It's not like you're going to the doctor looking for a great experience, but these people are simultaneously rude, officious and unhelpful. They must be relatives, because otherwise I cant figure out how in the world these people keep jobs that they so self-apparently hate.
