The staff seemed friendly, although one employee did confuse vegan and gluten-free, presuming it would still be okay, so allergy training should be improved, especially considering Marks and Spencer are generally pretty clued up about gluten-free / allergies etc. The mobile scanning system seemed to be down, which I was told is due to the wi-fi the store is on, which seems to be intermittent - hopefully, this will be fixed to improve reliability and consistency. 3* - I do prefer Booths across the way, but this isn't a bad alternative if you're in a hurry.

Once in if you havent an item in mind you serach for an empty space on the catalogue shelf,, and having found one proceed to look in the index of the extremely large catalogue, of which you have gone to the back of , only to find it's in the front. Once the item is found and chosen you check in the little blue machine thingy, by tapping in the 3 and 4 digit code and then it tells you ( Sorry None in stock ) Great try again. lets try that one, The one I didnt really want and it's dearer, but hey its MP3. Good ok,,, that one they have, Now get your little free blue pen. ( free to use not take home) Scribble in the code and how many you want . ( dont get the 3 and 4 digit code in the how many box,,, it will cost you a fortune ) Now take said piece of paper and totter along through the maze of metal bars until you reach a till. Upon being summond , present said piece of paper , pay money and then recieve another piece of paper. You are then directed to sit on a row of hard back seats like you are waiting for a bus Watching a TV until your number pops up, A bit like watching the Lottery on a Saturday, But all you win is what you paid for. Suddenly up pops your number . and presenting your new piece of paper they stamp it and return it to you as a memento of your trip Along with the Mp3 player and a bag you can get all of the days shopping in. Simple. Must admit I juist love it. A little update. Just been in and bought a Gordon Ramsey Slow Cooker/Tagine. I have this horrible feeling if I don't use it correctly It's going to start swearing at me.

The checkout area is well-managed with multiple self-service checkouts, this is good to see as it can be poorly managed without self-scanning checkouts at other locations, especially outside of big cities. The beverage and fridge sections were a little lacking, compared to other stores, but overall the selection was OK. They were low on staff, I always find Poundland to be a mini jumble sale and can struggle to find items, it's a shame there weren't staff on hand to assist here. 3* - Average Poundland store, some good products and A-OK for sure. Another nice brand to have in Chorley's town centre.

It's mainly cheap stuff, so there isn't a set list of items you'll find here, which means you have to prepare for disappointment, I couldn't find what I wanted sadly as the cupboard drinks section was rather poor. 3* - OK, well worth a look in every now and then as some (but not all) items can be a good deal.
