I am surprised that they don't stock any of the maternity range or tall range, as no other shop in alfreton does either. They do allow you to order goods into the shop though, and also through their website, which can be returned to the store if not suitable, although you do have to pay P&P. The staff are friendly and helpful, and are usually cheerful. There is no parking directly outside, but its a short walk from the pay and display car park.

The reason for this is that if you require a non-standard size (in my case size 8) you have to order a larger size, take delivery, return the garment for alteration to the required size and await final delivery. Despite the website stating 'Should you require a size that is not mentioned in the brochure, please ask. With our modern computer pattern sizing, we may be able to make a garment specially for you to your measurements.' I was informed, when I tried to order a third garment, that I still had to follow the standard process of ordering a larger size, returning it and having it re-delivered in my size. Reluctantly I have decided not to purchase any further garments from David Nieper, as by the time I have received the garment it is out of season and a new range has been launched in a new catalogue.

The majority of the shop to the rear is separated into aisles of sizes, so all the shoes of the same size are all in one place. There are aisles for both men and women, but the female range is a lot more extensive. Prices are reduced because it is an outlet shop, but they are still fairly pricey. Nevertheless the CAT shoes I bought for work had a decent level of discount. The front of the store has more specific ranges of shoes from certain manufacturers like Loretta. The shop (renovated house) is huge and has two floors of rooms stuffed full of antiques This shop sells period clothing which is the main reason me and my friends visit because we are interested in such things. It is enjoyable to walk around, yet a little creepy at times, especially if you are on your own. Staff are generally friendly but a little weary about youths and so when we walk in they follow us around the whole shop in case we do something stupid i suppose. The antiques are crammed in and so you have to be careful when you are walking round and this can be hard when things are hanging off of tables. It never seems to get very busy at all. The prices can be quite expensive.
