Its layout is cluttered and difficult to navigate with a pushchair, meaning I usually need to go alone. They stock a few items from the petite range, everything else is just basic. I am surprised that they don't stock any of the maternity range or tall range, as no other shop in alfreton does either. They do allow you to order goods into the shop though, and also through their website, which can be returned to the store if not suitable, although you do have to pay P&P. The staff are friendly and helpful, and are usually cheerful. There is no parking directly outside, but its a short walk from the pay and display car park.

The reason for this is that if you require a non-standard size (in my case size 8) you have to order a larger size, take delivery, return the garment for alteration to the required size and await final delivery. Despite the website stating 'Should you require a size that is not mentioned in the brochure, please ask. With our modern computer pattern sizing, we may be able to make a garment specially for you to your measurements.' I was informed, when I tried to order a third garment, that I still had to follow the standard process of ordering a larger size, returning it and having it re-delivered in my size. Reluctantly I have decided not to purchase any further garments from David Nieper, as by the time I have received the garment it is out of season and a new range has been launched in a new catalogue.

There are only 2 changing rooms and so when it is busy it can be annoying if you have to wait for the changing room It can be difficult to walk around without knocking things off because everything is spaced so close together.

The staff are friendly, polite and helpful, and will take you to the area where items are if you enquire. They get regular deliveries and stock a broad range of sizes. The only downfall to this Peacocks is the shops size, as I know the range would be even better if floor space wasn't an issue.

The staff are generally friendly and helpful, but you are well out of luck if you want to pop in 5 minutes before the official closing time, as the door is likely at being locked!
