We live up near Akron, and before recently, we had never known about this beautiful farm. Fall Festival was so much fun - perfect for our 1 year old and I'd imagine fun all the way thru school agers. Corn pits, short corn mazes, friendly farm animals, slides and playgrounds, and activity areas galore made our little one's day. He loved seeing the resident rabbit hopping around the farm. Beautiful decor, treats, and gifts were inside the temperature controlled barn near an outdoor pumpkin store and even a small area for the littlest ones to pick their favorite tiny pumpkin. We brought friends for Christmas on the Farm, and everyone had a great time. We werent sure what to expect, but everything was organized and done really nicely while keeping a good pace. We started out with ice skating in the main admissions barn, followed by decorating cookies in Mrs. Claus' barn. She gave us lots of time as our 6, 4, and 2 year olds iced cookies, telling us about different things, reading stories, and engaging the kids. Next, we ended up in Santa's barn which was nicely decorated to look authentic. He told the older kids some fun tricks while slowly warming up my cautious two year old. Before long, he had gotten my son's attention by giving him fives and my son was in his arms at his tool bench helping him build a project with a toy hammer. SC spent a lot of time with our children which was a special bonus, and afterwards they got to participate in an "indoor snowball fight" and make reindeer food amongst other crafts. On our way back to the main barn, we picked up the fresh, hot cocoa and cider included in our admissions. We will be back to Nickajack for future events especially in the fall and at Christmas. The Christmas event just blew us away, especially for only $12 admission. If you're looking for fun for the younger set in the fall or an absolutely magical (or convincing) visit from Santa, look no further.

Last summer, Fiancé and I got placed in sit-in kayaks for the first time. Less than a mile down the river, he complains that he's really uncomfortable, and isn't sure what to do with his feet. Turns out they set him off on a 6-mile trip with NO FOOTRESTS inside the kayak. So Fiancé's excursion ended with a lot of lower back pain. This summer, I went online and reserved an 11-mile trip at 10:00 on a Sunday, three weeks in advance. They called to confirm that I was squared away. Then when I showed up at 9:55, I was told they weren't opening until 11 that morning. When I said I had a 10:00 reservation for the 11-mile trip, they said they hadn't been doing the long trips all week. They didn't have any of my information available, or lost it, so instead of a phone to call give me a heads up, I find this out after driving 35 minutes to the livery. Until they can fix their equipment and have a better booking system in place, I'm done with this company. Our bodies and our time are far too valuable to risk any more mishaps.

Very large campground!…read more I highly recommend bringing bikes or renting a golf cart if staying here. We booked in advance on the online system. It can be a bit confusing because they want you to pay extra for a specific site. The campgrounds prices are on the higher end and more than we traditionally pay but we like to do at least one camping splurge each year. We ended up getting site 340 at check in. It was along the river which was great bc my kids enjoyed playing in it. However so did everyone else in the campground so our space didn't have a lot of privacy. Lots of people cutting through it to go to the river. They had several events throughout the weekend. We decided to try the Easter egg hunt on Saturday. It was a big disappointment. Even though we showed up at starting time the eggs were already gone and lots of empty handed kids. I think they laid the eggs out early and kids came early and picked it up. They had a cool indoor rec area for the kids. We did a craft that the kids enjoyed and went back after the water park but it closes at 7 so the timing didn't work out. Even though they said they would be open the next day we rode by several times and it was closed on Sunday. The water park was nice. Although crowded the kids enjoyed the pool and water playground. They also had wibits for adults and kids. Included is also kayaking or paddleboarding but there were not many paddles to use. The campground also has put putt, a bounce pad, volleyball, covered basketball court, playgrounds, restaurants, and cornhole. I recommend bringing your own life jacket. Although no real listed trails there are lots of areas to hike. There are only 2 shower houses in the campground so showering was a challenge getting a stall and having hot water. 2 dump stations if your don't have a hook up at your site. Everyone had a great time!

Our campsite was right next to cabins. We heard f-bombs and rap music talking about sex and drugs all night- which was great exposure for my toddlers (NOT!). After searching ridiculously hard for a park security phone number, I was finally able to submit a noise complaint. The guard told the perpetrators we were the ones who made the complaint so they harassed us all weekend. We had people walking thru our campsite all the time. The bath house stayed dirty with trash on the floor, dirty toilets and dirty shower stalls. The cleaning crew came thru but you couldn't tell what they did because everything was still a mess. The app is only half way functional and is full of links to 404 pages and old phone numbers. The Adventure Park was the best part of the stay. The lake, splash pad and water playground were awesome! But it was full of entitled, rude guests. There were plenty of life guards to patrol the water but not much staff for anything else. On Sunday, we went to the Rec Center for activities with a bear. They no-showed for 3 activities. We waited nearly 90 minutes and saw no sign of people in the Rec Center. We talked with the staff in John O's and they tried to help us, but were not successful. This was our second and last time staying with a Jellystone campground. We stayed at Mammoth Cave and had a very similar experience. I'd rather stay at a state park and only pay a fraction of the cost. The campground is not all that close to town, so I hope you're able to pack in what you need! Our campsite was a complete after thought. They had just mowed and weed eated and left bunches of grass and tall weeds all over the ground. And the ground was saturated from the water spigot that constantly leaked. We had huge rut from the lawn mower in our site and that stayed soggy from said water spigot. There was no guidance on how to contact park staff nor for check out. When we left, there was nobody at the check-in station, so I left my mirror tag on the desk and left because I got tired of waiting around. Huge let down. I found old episodes of Yogi and HB Friends to amp up my toddlers and get them excited for the trip. We were all excited for the trip and it was a total bust of a stay.
