You have to be uber cool to get into the Fringe Club, or an artist…read more Unfortunately my VUP status means that I have only been in here once for a Yelp event but I managed to make a new friend who is also an artist and reckons he can "sneak me in." Let the adventures begin! Cheap drinks, freshly cooked Jimmy's Pizza smokin' away and ice cold gelati means that the 9pm, 10pm and past midnight munchies are catered for. The layout of the place is like if Harry Potter and circus clown got together and spewed a technicolour coat all over Rymill Park. It is truly spectacular! Walk on floor boards throughout the venue, pose in front of piles of suitcases and walls papered with books, sit under circus tents and try to open all the doors that form the boundaries of the venue - probably not with much luck. If you do get in and you don't turn into a pumpkin at midnight stay until after 1am. All of the artists are finished their shows, want to make some noise, strip off other people's clothes or get compete on stage for the best improv act. It's a hoot and is when the Fringe Club really comes to life.

This is definitely my favourite of the 2013 fringe venues. I'm one of those lucky cool kids who…read morenabbed an artist pass, so coming and going is something I just get to do. To the GENIUS who thought to put a deck down, I salute thee! Free from dirty dusty shoes of a well worn down parkland, kicking up the heels on the dance floor is such fun. Funky overhead lighting enhances ten quirky decor of the area, and screams fun. The cheap drinks, and tasty food (that's cooked and served till late) with the grassy knoll to rest and recharge upon, for another round of dancing. I feel like mentioning things that happen after 1am are to be kept secret, for us special people... But of you're here it's worth sticking around for.

The Adelaide Festival Centre, whilst not as big as some of the other entertainment venues, provides…read morea certain level of etiquette and charm. The foyer is always well decorated and the audio systems in the theatres are very high quality. Staff are friendly enough and they have a range of cafes and bars to get a snack, meal or drink during intermission or before the show. Parking is quite over priced though and the snacks and food can be too, however if you are having a special night out, then that doesn't matter too much. Seating around the place is ample however when it is busy, there is really no where to sit unless you are the first out of the auditorium doors during the break. All in all, there is a good variety of entertainment, a clear floor plan, nice architecture and above all, a vibrant sense of culture to complement the northern district of Adelaide's CBD.

As a born and bred Adelaidean, i feel like my attempt at doing the Adelaide Festival Centre (AFC)…read morefull justice with a review would be like asking a blind person to review the Louvre (no disrespect to blind ppl of course!)...but I'll give it a go. It was a rainy evening typically Adelaide in May. Not cold, but wet nonetheless. We were given tickets to a show and prepaid parking as my parents couldn't make the date. And lucky us. The show was astounding but i will digress from that and focus on the centre itself. Steeped in South Aussie history and local feel, the AFC is a quirky and fascinating venue. So much thought has gone into its design and it shows, from outside and in. I discovered that it now has a couple of bars for pre-show drinks and hosts a well-attended black tie show if you're that way inclined. We saw a well known Adelaide jeweller schmoozing in the foyer before our show and I'm sure plenty of Adelaide celebs get here when they can. To note : the bistro is down next to the new bridge and right on the river but access to it is mostly outdoors (not ideal when it's raining cats n dogs!) The piano bar was exquisite. ..from the ambience to the service and the main pre-show attraction, the food. Well thought out menu and suitably matched wines were a stand out (again, not including the show! ) The theatres themselves are impeccably designed and the visual and sound experience is one you could imagine spending thousands on every night if you had unlimited cash! An amazing experience to be lucky enough to have a night out like this. If you ever get a call offering tickets to the AFC, do not hesitate. Go to woe this place rocks!

But this year I was very excited to see the new venue "The Octagon". I think this really opens the doors for the Gluttony to get some bigger acts within its walls. Good move Gluttony! I was fortunate enough to see Tom Green in this Venue. I was really impressed with it's size. Kind of deceiving from outside. The chair set up in there was unusual though, the sides were facing the crowd rather than the stage. Nonetheless, great venue and well air-conditioned with a little bar. As for the rest of the Gluttony, loved to see more food on offer. The drinks lists were ok, but still costly. The set up seemed to change a lot this year and stretched out longer at the back. Which meant more space to sit and enjoy your surroundings. It was good to see the steampunk pigs again. But, I am hoping for something different next year. My thoughts are that the Gluttony has improved drastically this year in comparison to 2015. I imagine that 2017 will be bigger and better than ever!
