Stopped in for a late lunch. First time here. There are a lot of menu items to choose from, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and even rice bowls. We both opted for the Single Jumbo Hamburger Combo. I asked if I could try half fries and half onion rings. The lady said I couldn't do that. The hubby wanted a milkshake instead of a soda. The lady said the combo comes with a soda. He asked her if she could just up-charge for a shake, and apparently that was ok, as he got a chocolate shake. The burgers were good, but had too much mustard for our liking. Any who I found the service to be excellent, the food was prepared in a timely fashion and the man and lady working were very nice. They had no problem chatting it up with me while the food was being cooked. (I like that) I found the menu to be extremely deep. This alone peaked my interest for repeat visits. I've heard this place was the best but I don't agree. Buns were smooshed and soggy. Pickles tasted like cleaning supply. The burger meat tasted bland. Refills were .50 cents. It's been YEARS since I've been to Peach Pit. Like, at least 15 years. It's been suggested by my wife for lunch in the recent past, I just don't remember Peach Pit being a destination stop. For me, it was always one of convenience. I will say this, they were probably the first restaurant to make a little bit of everything. You want Chinese? Done! You want burgers? Done! Other restaurants have followed suit, and even do Mexican, ice cream, and anything else they can think of that is quick and cheap. But Peach Pit has stuck to its original items it seems. My first reaction when walking in is that it's been remodeled since my last visit. There are so many local places that never update their location, and eventually the place gets so run down that potential new customers are put off as soon as they walk in. Anyways, I got the Western Burger. Looks like your standard burger with onion rings, grilled onions and I think a hint of BBQ sauce. What I would have preferred to try was the pastrami or tri-tip sandwich, but the lettuce on the sandwiches didn't sound good to me. If I'm being honest, I think other restaurants do the Peach Pit strategy better. Same frozen meat patties, same stop bought fries and onion rings. I went in ordered a grilled ham and cheese with jalapeños (the only thing ive ever ordered) First of all i asked for hot sauce got an ugly attitude and an eye roll for asking ummm okay? Building looks old, I see it as classic..
