But if you have a photographer like Brian, it can be FAR less painful. I still hated having my picture that much, but at least I had someone fun and super talented on the other end of the lense. I met Brian at the Bravo Wedding show. If you are getting married, I recommend going to this show. He was friendly and chatty and gave us a coupon for a free engagement session if we used him. I was sold, but the hubby wanted to talk to a couple other photographers. So a few weeks later we made the rounds to the 4 or 5 we had narrowed our choices down to. Don't get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with the other photographers, but I just knew that Brian was going to be the right fit for us. And can I add that the price was right? You will spend a WHOLE lot more with some of the comprable wedding photographers in Portland. Brian did our engagement photos for us in Cannon Beach, where we got engaged. We ran all over the city taking pictures and finished with some pictures on the beach. Not only was the session free, but he only charged us $150 to travel all the way out to the beach. A steal if you ask me. The day of the wedding was just as good. Everyone was smiling and really enjoying the whole experience... which if you knew my husband and some of his freinds, the amount of smiling they did was a miracle. I give Brian all the credit for that. :) He even managed to pull of a last minute save as my mother tripped over her pants and went tumbling forward. Not a bruise on her or his camera. How many people could pull THAT off? The website he posts the pictures on is simple to use, which is a bonus for those not-so-computer-literate family members. And he will sell you all of the negatives. We got our wedding, wedding rehearsal, and engagement photos all for one price. And when one of our books didn't come back the way he wanted it, he turned around and ordered a new one. A several hundred dollar loss to him, but some two very happy clients. Seriously, I have no idea how he made any money off of us... My only warning is that it can take a couple weeks to get your photos. We got our about a week after our honeymoon, which was fine with us. But if you are going to want your wedding photos the next day, Brian isn't for you. But the quality of his work makes it worth the wait. So, if you need a wedding photographer, give him a call. You'll love how friendly he is and how relaxed you will be. Oh, and ask him to show you the jelly bean trick he does with his dog. :)

We had the same photographer in FL for almost 5 years and we loved her and her style. That said, I knew the minute I met Jess and John that they were going to do beautiful photos for us. Their style is what I would describe as having someone take a photo of a treasured moment. They created opportunities for us to have special, close, treasured moments and then photographed them. We got our "sneak peak" and I have never liked all the photos prior. I cried because every single one was absolutely stunning. They were intimate and beautiful and a perfect reflection of my family. I am SO glad we worked with Jess and John. They would be amazing for anyone to hire. The price you pay for what they do is beyond worth it; they should probably be charging a lot more because they're worth it! We had had a disappointing engagement shoot with another photographer, so we approached Jon and Jess about splitting the hour between engagement shots and bridal photos. They were so easy to work with, and put myself and my camera-shy husband at ease - to the point where my hubs even enjoyed our engagement shoot! Jess and Jon went above and beyond on our wedding day - our guests said they didn't even notice them taking pictures during the ceremony (despite the awesome shots they took!), and they were so kind and down to earth. Our engagement/bridal shoot photos were given to us a couple of weeks afterwards, and they gave us our wedding photos six weeks after the wedding (both with sneak peaks within a few days!) All of our photos were given to us on a lovely engraved flash drive, in a beautiful wooden box with some of our photos on it. All of our images turned out beautifully; we are so, so grateful to have such amazing pictures capturing our love and wedding day for the years to come.
