I don't know what it is about some of the PDSA shops in Leeds, but they seem to be prime locations for hunting out cheap furniture. Of course, you can't rely on there always being something of use, but every time I've been to the one in town they've a huge dining table or similar. On my virgin voyage to this lovely branch in Cross Gates the furniture items were there in full glory too, with a huge armchair on display accompanied by some incredibly reasonable vintage style cabinets!
Had I the room to store some extra furniture I would have, hands down (or money down, should I say), gone away with both cabinets. However, I was more than aware I'd have to face a muchly non-plussed displeased boyfriend face on his return so resisted temptation. That was not the only thing of interest in store however, they also sported an unusually large collection of collectables and ornaments too. Nearby stood proud a collection of half price winter clothing and coats, with some shockingly good deals that I'm still kicking myself about - gorgeous knit cardigans for £1.50! Still, I was behaving and not giving in to my money gremlins, so I came away empty handed. Boo.
Being PDSA there were plenty of cute little items too, such as plaques which stated "happiness is being owned by a cat" and of course being a charity shop they had some eighties classics serenading out from their hifi - Simply Red if you don't mind! The staff were lovely and the store is in grand nick. All good! Better, in fact. read more
