In terms of these requirements they have done some stuff in the past, that I will not discuss. Lets just say, I will not buy memory or processors from them. No bare chips. I would pick up graphics cards, hard drives, maybe even a motherboard. In this area they have been pretty useful. A last minute requirement will usually direct me here. Something I would usually get from a online supplier, I can often find a suitable substitute here. This is the bigger brother of its Argyle Street sibling. I usually find that they have more selection. Especially in the graphic cards arena. They are not an overclockers or modders paradise but they sometimes can surprise you with the stock that they do have. Finally, as I said about the other store - they usually have the best prices on optical media. Buy a spindle - save yourself a bundle.

Since they are my local computer shop and repair centre, I have used Creative frequently, and find…read moretheir services can be variable. They do have a good reputation, and the actual repair department are very impressive, as are the sales team. I am not always entirely delighted with the quality of online support, though: they can be slow to reply, and it is always better to go into the shop. Their lower end computers are not that impressive: my laptop was cheap, but has never been quite as fast as my old desk top, even though it has more power. On the other hand, my desktop is still going strong after three years, and they are a good place for additional hardware. I'd certainly recommend them if you are close enough to make a trip back to get things sorted out, but I am not sure that I'd use them over the Internet.

To be honest, I only went in here because it's a few doors up from my house, but I'm very glad I…read moredid. They sell laptops but they also do laptop repairs at what I think are pretty reasonable prices (I've not got much to compare them to but I never feel I'm getting ripped off). I first went in when my laptop keyboard started losing keys at an alarming rate and they replaced the whole keyboard for £20. Then, more recently, my laptop was overheating quite badly (probably because it was full of sawdust after I got a new kitchen put in this summer) and they sorted that for £30. I also bought my other half a lovely little notebook computer which came installed with WIndows XP, some open source Office software and Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus software. It was £150 but they gave me £20 off in exchange for an old Advent laptop I'd been meaning to get rid of for ages. The notebook also came with a six month guarantee so I know we can just go back in if anything goes wrong. I've never had any issues with stuff we've bought here or repairs they've carried out. The guys running the shop are really friendly, really helpful, especially the Irish guy who I think must be the owner. I know there are laptop repair shops all over the place nowadays but if you're in Shawlands then I'd definitely recommend this place.

Probably one of the best computer shops in the area…read more I had major, major issues with another computer repair shop in Motherwell who were seriously messing me around, so I brought my beloved laptop here, and they fixed it for me in two days (compared to the other shops 2 WEEK effort) It wasn't even that expensive, but they really did save my life, and all of my Uni coursework too. They also sell other things computery, like cables and mouse mats and more technical stuff that I couldn't really explain to you, and do mobile phone repairs. It's a bit of an all round technological repair centre really. All of the stars go to how efficient and quick the guys here were, and they never bamboozled me with any jargon either. Brilliant.

If you want an R2-D2 or 3-CPO to appear on your posters, Mr Lucas is going to make you pay! So, what happened? Currys and PC World have joined up. Take all of the stuff that was in Currys (poorly organised home electrical displays) and combine it with PC World (well organised displays of over-priced home electronics and computers) and what do you get? A really big store with a lot of stuff in it. The items are fairly well laid out on the floor. Massive wall of flat screens in the back. The individual shelves could be possibly be better organised. I had to price check a Laser printer toner cartridge due to it being misplaced on the shelf. The staff was really helpful and that was a pleasant surprise. The stuff is still higher priced than you could find online or possibly in a competitor's store, but you do get selection. Lots of selection. As I said - large back wall filled with flatscreens. Wow. Unfortunately, it seems the computing bit again has been left behind. Get your components in a different store. I would definitely visit here. Get your information from the internet in place and drop by. Being able to see and touch an item always beats a picture on a webpage. And what was the result on my price check for the toner cartridge. The young fellow check it at one of the tills, then I ran it through redlaser on the iphone it and found it online for half price. (not in front of him though, as I said, nice kid) Not sure if that price difference is consistent with everything in the massive store but I could imagine some items are better bought here.

Ever since pc world & currys merged these stores into a megastore you end up with a very big store…read morewith a wide variety of stuff you'd expect from such a large store. But doesn't take away from the fact that when I'd went into the store during the easter weekend to buy a desktop I had to explain to not 1 but TWO 2 members of staff just to ask. No not ask explain that I DID NOT want the empty case that they thought I had ment but the actual pc without the monitor. Only then to forced into taking 1 month free something or other incase something goes wrong with it (now canceled). IF I had wanted an empty desktop case I would have went somewhere else with a better variety of cases & or at a cheaper price, as for the staff eeerrr I think some1 aged between 8 to 12 would have understood 1st time without having to overexplain what I wanted. Fair doos in trying to up sell or try & convince me in trying to buy antivirus/web protection & latest version of office but I stick with 2007 office version (works ok) & more than enough free antivirus & firewall programs on the net to choose from 1st b4 having to fork out whatever for the latest versions for things that I'll only use at best once a week (antivirus scan).
