While the building itself may be a bit dated, it more than makes up for it in service. Get past the lifejackets stacked in the corner of the store and the general disorganized feeling and you'll find that this place has a lot of options for boaters, including several types of boats (with variable speeds) that can be rented out. My group ended up settling for a 15-horsepower boat that cost us $80 for the day plus gas charges. Luckily, they'll refund a portion of the gas charge based on what you have left at the end of the day. This is a very laid-back place. The owner's dog saunters around and sees visitors off in the boat (by sitting at the end of the dock), and we had some old (very old) paddles in the boat that we attempted to use to row (to no avail). The boats get you to where you need to go and the general experience is very good. The owner gave my group a short lesson on how to use the boat (one of my friends had boating experience and knew how to operate one), which was appreciated. Sturgeon Bay Marine is a great place to rent a boat if you don't have any other options.

It seemed like we would learn about local history of the area- but it was a prerecorded tour that was out of sync with what we were supposed to be looking at. This made it confusing and we were unsure of what we were supposed to notice. It was pricey for what it was. And there is an additional charge for the museum. Crew was moving furniture from the dining room for the carpet to be replaced. The tour felt like an imposition for the crew to get their work done on the boat. Not great pictures of the beautiful dining room because there were chairs stacked everywhere. There are many great museums in the area and lots of cool experiences, many that are free.. I have for many years used another marina in the area. I am historically a cheap fellow but I now…read morerealize you get what you pay for. My normal marina has slid into bad customer service so I made a trek across the harbor. Was I glad I did. The staff greets every customer as if they are an old family friend. It is staffed well and with great people who work for you and will help you or your guests. I talked with the owners and the are great and on hand to talk. They don't hide from customers and present the company extremely professional. I would recommend this place to all that come to the area. And the charge extremely competitively which helps my cheap side. Well done All!!
